Fantastic experience: Best place to work at

Positive experience: It’s pretty small. Equipment is great. Gets really busy at peak hours, there’s not a lot to choose from in general either.

Fantastic experience: Powerhouse gym has a good variety of workout equipment and machines and lots of it. I go to this gym for both strength training and cardio. Nicely laid out, clean, and friendly staff. Definitely a good value for the money.

Fantastic experience: It's a convenient & good location for me. *Also, they invested in even better cardio machines and a new exercise area for more space. They also invested in a sanitizing crew which also helps. The main staff that I encounter is consistently chilled & helpful (Matt & Ed). I have been at this gym since 2016 and have noticed many improvements. Keep up the good work!!

Positive experience: It’s not a terrible gym if you need a place to get your basic lifts in. I’ve been a powerhouse member for over a decade, and this location is far less accommodating than any other powerhouse I’ve been a member at. The staff is nice, but for how few people I see in that gym it is appalling how often this gym is out of order, and how often they are somehow out of towels. Weird compliant but when I come in there from 5:30-7am I expect the gym to be clean and towels ready for use

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love this place. I've been to a lot of gyms; planet fitness,snap, bfit, etc. But the community and the staff are all top notch, supportive, and friendly. I work across the street so it's convenient but will be a customer even if it becomes inconvenient to do so.

Fantastic experience: I had been around 150/160lbs most of my life. When I joined powerhouse, I started doing classes and eventually I was doing 5-11 classes a week for 1yr & 1/2yrs. Toward the end i was even doing personal training once a week w my husband. I got down to 130lbs before my herniated disc in my neck stopped me from going. I must say I feel like I learned a lot about nutrition from the personal trainer and it was an experience I would do again if I could afford to. I've been getting physical therapy for my neck and lower back because I broke my L3 last summer and I am looking forward to going back and working out here again. I've also been able to keep my weight at 125 for the last 2 years and I'm looking forward to getting more toned at the gym. Last time I was here the people were nice, the gym was clean and they had an awesome line up of classes.

Negative experience: Extremely unprofessional management, especially the manager Matt. I have witnessed Matt's unprofessional and rude mannerism towards other gym members and gym staff. This is clearly not a new issue considering there are other reviews from 2 years ago with the same complaints about Matt. I only hope that the owner of this franchise takes these multiple complaints into consideration as the gym staff would not inform me who owned the gym or give me any contact information for the owner. I was a member at this gym a few years ago and I returned in the last couple of months since they opened back up after COVID. Since returning, I have rarely seen the manager or other staff members wearing masks (which are required by the state). They provide towels and disinfectant spray to clean off the machines but I rarely see any gym members with one. I have also never seen a staff member clean the gym floor during staffed hours. I do not recommend this gym if you have any health concerns because they clearly don't care about member's health and safety during this pandemic.

Positive experience: Machines and free weights are great. Cardio equipment is good. The locker room is a bit dirty and could use a freshening. Price is Right and hours are amazing.

Positive experience: I've been going here since early march and I like it. Good location and good staff. It doesnt have any suanas though and sometimes machines are all occupied. But there are alot of treadmills and more than enough weights. They offer personal trainers aswell.

Fantastic experience: Great Gym can't emphasize that enough. But if powerhouse is reading this, my only request would be a hex bar. Which is more of a matter or personal preference than necessity. 5 stars.

Negative experience: I only signed up for two months so I could get a few training sessions with Tyler. Throughout those sessions, I can say that Tyler is phenomenal, as he really wishes to help the clientele, but the water itself tastes off and it makes me need to sit out for a while as to not throw up in the middle of workouts. Besides the water, half of their lockers are either complicated to use or broken. I also attempted to cancel: “if you cancel before the 16th then you won’t be charged for the next month.” Matt told me that I had to tell them I wanted to cancel 30 days ago if I didn’t want to be charged for the next month. So hidden fees are in your future if you sign up.

Negative experience: Beware of hidden fees. If I could give negative stars I would. They don’t tell you that there is an additional $50 that automatically comes out of your account 60 days after you sign up. And renews annually. This place is Tiny and it smells! And most of the equipment is old! The dance classes are mediocre and the instructors don’t even bother show up for early classes before 9am! It’s a hole in the ground. I hate I left LA Fitness for this dump!

Positive experience: All in all, Powerhouse Clarkston offers all that is expected. The only reason that I did not give 5 stars to this location, is because I went to the Powerhouse near Birmingham. The other location is in a class all on it's own.

Negative experience: Do not join if you ever want to leave. They make cancellation as difficult as humanly possible.

Fantastic experience: I appreciate their childcare and the great women to watch our kids during our workout! The rest of the staff is great, too. They keep it clean!

Negative experience: Sales "manager" Matt is rude and confrontational. He has no respect for customers and it's evident in his interactions with them. I tried to call and register a complaint multiple times but received a call back from someone claiming to be the general manager telling me to contact him at the gym. Unfortunately, every time I called back the general manager was mysteriously never there. If it actually was the general manager trying to contact me: if you're really trying to resolve a problem, you should give me a number I can actually reach you at. With so many other cheaper gym options in the area, you'd think they'd care more about the customer experience. I won't be returning but would still love to let the real manager know about my experience. Until then, I will continue to let everyone else know how terrible the customer service is.

Negative experience: Buyer beware! It's all in the contract you must give them a 30day notice to cancel your membership and then be ready for them to hit you with one last take your money for a maintenance fee! So much attitude at this place I hated going to this gym so I guess I learned my lesson and will get my exercise class elsewhere, I will tell all my friends and colleagues too.

Negative experience: Just contacted them. If you're a serious lifter, look elsewhere. Their DBs only reach up 100lbs. There's LA Fitness in Troy, their DBs reach 150lbs. Powerhouse in Troy/Madison Heights are 150lbs too. Rochester Hills Gym is 155lbs but they lack a few things here and there so you'd have to re-adjust a bit if anything.

Positive experience: Gym is nice with newer equipment and its very clean the morning girl at front desk keeps the place immaculate. Music is absolutely horrible, first gym I have been to that plays Brittney Spears as much as they do and when I asked the chubby guy sleeping at the front to change it he got an attitude, also the first powerhouse I have ever been to where the dumbbells stop at 100 lbs. Other than that its a nice place with everything you need
