Fantastic experience: Seriously the gold standard of gyms! This really is a great gym... Lots of classes, lots of equipment, tons of amenities, pools, hot tubs, infrared sauna, smoothie bar, it just really is the best of the best as far as I'm concerned. Buuut, with that being said, I also have to share that this gym is also extremely expensive. A single membership per month is around $103-$110 from what I understand. I think it's cheaper for the whole family and if you're a student, but not entirely sure. So all in all, this gym is expensive but also fantastic! I guess you get what you pay for!

Positive experience: Was a member years ago and didn't think twice about rejoining when we moved back to the area. Some things haven't changed (ie: dated locker rooms) but have heard facility upgrades are planned that might address some of those concerns. Looking forward to playing more tennis and getting back in shape.

Negative experience: All I want to know is how much it cost just for the water aerobics only , ( the pool usage only …) and I cannot get a straight answer the front desk are saying that they have no idea of how much it cost, really? I don’t believe a word they say ! They want you to submit you to waste your time talking with a membership recruiter who will try to sell you a bunch of extra that you don’t really want ….you have to leave your name and infos …when somebody could just answer yes it’s $500 a month or it’s 50 $ a month … I like Cacfit because they are very straightforward there’s no “beating around the bush like this” or “shady receptionist “who pretend not to know how much does it cost at the gym?!?! give me a break !!!I wish they had a pool though, at Cacfit that’s the problem…

Negative experience: I had a membership for over a decade but left my membership to my family members in the area when I left for military obligations. When I came back, I was constantly hounded about my membership status. Little did I know, they took my name off my own membership. So I wasn't a member any longer. I put up with the expensive fees and lack of equipment because it was good enough. I'm now disappointed I stayed with this facility for so long. This is not a gym. It's a golf club without the golf. Save your money and time and find an actual gym that encourages holistic health.

Negative experience: They often flood surrounding properties because of "broken landscape irrigation" resulting in thousands of gallons being wasted, and creating a pest nuisance. Not a civic or environmentally sound business.

Fantastic experience: I recently joined the gym after a Covid hiatus. The gym is clean and they take pride in the facility. It has everything for all ages. It’s the best gym in Auburn, hands-down.

Negative experience: Wi-Fi never works or is slower than 56k dial up. Most of the gym equipment needs a serious update as it’s over 20 years old. Get rid of all the freemotion machines they are worthless

We have recently added a new pool enclosure over the small pool, a new infrared sauna, and three gazebos, and we're adding an outdoor workout area. Negative experience: There are very real reasons this gym has a low review. But unfortunately it has services others do not offer in Auburn, namely a pool, hot tub, tennis and racquetball. Having been a member for over 5 years I feel the biggest problem is the leadership and management. They are unresponsive, and poor communicators when you do interact with them. The regular ataff are fine; nice and friendly. Time and again I reach out to management on requests or concerns and NEVER have they been responded to or addressed. Obviously you'll see this is an ongoing issue from the other reviews. Why on Earth something isn't done about this by the owner continues to baffle me. Why not strive to be excellent in what you do in our small community? Why not show that you care about your members? We are all there to increase the quality of our life and yet it doesn't feel like they care. Other problems stemming from poor leadership are lack of cleanliness. The pool, restrooms, and equipment are smelly and dirty. There is inadequate ventilation in the various workout rooms. There is more I could say but no one cares anyway. Good luck. I see that the club responded to this review and there is no reply feature. Here is my reply--- offering to help now is a farce. After 5+ years of ignoring me and many other cuatomers, your offer is WAY too late. You run a horrible business. IF YOU CARED, you would have responded to numerous verbal requests, notes, comment cards, and emails as they occurred. Poor excuse for competent and caring leadership and management.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I just signed up last week, finally! So glad we did. The gym equipment is in really good condition and it’s well spaced so it doesn’t feel crowded. The atmosphere is so welcoming too! I am 6 months pregnant and the group Pilates class I took was challenging, but I felt sooo comfortable to modify while still making it challenging. The pool area is great because there’s a kids play area with a kids pool, hot tub, lap pools, and plenty of lay-out areas. Really excited about getting some sun out there after workouts.

Fantastic experience: Love this gym! Have been a member for the past 2 years. I really appreciate all they do for kids from childcare during workouts, parents night out and holiday activities for kids. The group class are amazing with yoga, Zumba, Pilates and more. During the summer my family spends hours at the pool and the kids get their swim lessons. Great place all around!

Fantastic experience: Not only do I absolutely LOVE the club and the many new friends I've made including awesome moms, but I would give 100 stars alone to Cheri and the kids club/daycare program which is worth EVERY PENNY!!! The kids care staff are incredible and I adore them all. Huge shout out to Cheri and her team for giving our son the best care ever!!!

Fantastic experience: If there were 6 stars, I would give them 6. I never review anything but couldn’t understand why this place would have anything less than 5 stars. Great gym, great staff, nice location and views, amazing child care, awesome pool deck, great capacity, workout space, and equipment. This is the most worthwhile money I spend month after month.

Fantastic experience: Super friendly staff, with positive attitudes towards comprehensive health for their members. Pools are great and not too crowded, and they're building a new sauna facility. Spin, cardio and weight rooms are top notch. Altogether, a great offering from some fun people.
Negative experience: This gym has nice amenities. But, is not worth the price you pay and the contract bind you are in. It's not simple as just canceling you must jump through hoops to cancel membership. This gym makes at least $3.6 million annually from member fees and has outdated workout equipment to show for it.. seems like they care only about their racquet members, who mind you, pay extra on top of their ridiculous fees. But, sadly they are the only gym in the area that have such amenities and there for, take advantage of the members. Do not recommend

We go over our contracts before signing up a member and you may cancel at any time. Our accounting department doesn’t have a cancellation request from you, however, we will contact you today to help you. We hope you will stay with us so you will see the many features ARFC will add in 2024. We would like to clarify that we cater to all our members, not just racquet members. We constantly strive to improve our facilities and equipment, as evidenced by our recent additions such as the new structure over the small pool, a new infra-red sauna, and beautiful gazebos on the pool deck. Additionally, we have plans to add more cardio equipment, and a new men’s locker room in the near future. We just added a hack squat, the power sled, and the glute machine to the gym floor with more additions to come. We are grateful for all our members and appreciate the trust they place in us to help them achieve their fitness goals. Negative experience: I am here in auburn for a two days wedding venue touring trying ti get a feel for the town. We had a great experience last night getting pizza but when I went for a nice short workout at this gym. I was looked at and talked to very very rudely! There were threee people at the front desk but the woman working was rude, she wouldn’t help at all. I will never go back there and it left a horrible taste in my mouth. She shouldn’t work there

Fantastic experience: I've been a long time member (over 12 years) and have just gotten around to posting a review. This place is excellent. It is a rare day when equipment isn't available due to maintenance. Plenty of equipment (cardio esp) and tons of free weights. I don't use the classes personally but hear from other members that they like them. I use the fitness facilities(cardio, weights, cable machines etc), pool and sauna. All of these areas are clean and well maintained and the pool area has seen a lot of renovation and improvement. The staff is polite, king and keep the place very clean. For what I spend monthly vs what I get, it's not cheap but I can see the value of a place like this...

Negative experience: Good Gym, good classes and the pool. Read you contract careful. If you want to cancel or put membership on hold they will extend your contract to the month of hold. The hold fee is ridiculously high, for not using Gym for couple of month. Cancellation policy has all kids of hidden strings attached. They requires proof of reason for cancellation even AFTER contact is over??!! No trust to members, not respect. They raising dues every month and trying to squeeze every penny from you if you want to cancel contract. Not worst it!
We are so sorry to hear you are having any issues with the ARFC membership agreement. Just to clarify, membership dues would only increase in January of a new year, or when your membership is up for renewal. Our standard hold fee is $30 for a single membership, extending your agreement for the number of months you were on hold. Should you move, while in an agreement, you save on the early cancellation fees. If you are not in an agreement, you do not need to provide any documents other than your 30-notice to cancel. Negative experience: I think they need at add chlorine to the pools. Everytime my daughter comes home, she smells like mold. :/

Negative experience: Rude uninterested front desk --- too busy talking to coworker to bother with new folks; have checked 3 times over the past 8 years and bad initial experience every time. Overpriced, new money rudeness, and sales hungry and some of the worst customer service. No thank you.

Negative experience: These guys can’t even call a new potential customer back. Front desk is given limited information about the club and really can’t do much for besides answer the phone after 2-3 phone calls back to back. Otherwise you get put on terminal hold. Covid has affected a lot of businesses and they’re all running short on employees and especially those with any know how and that really give a care about their jobs or the customers they’re supposed be taking care of. Will be going another club.

Fantastic experience: Great gym with so many different services available. I especially enjoy the multiple pools for lap swimming. Staff here are always friendly. Locker rooms are very clean and have everything you need. Very easy to find an available locker. Lots of exercise machines in their various rooms

Negative experience: We wanted to get a membership for the pool to train for upcoming events. The front desk said we could sign a waiver to use the pool & meet with membership after since they weren’t available. Two women (who call themselves managers) came out to the pool deck and aggressively (with facial expressions that looked like they were ready to brawl- extremely rude/aggressive management) told us we needed to get out of the pool mid workout & sign up for a membership. I asked if we could finish our workout & was told no, that it’s a liability issue. When I pointed out we signed a waiver I was told that’s to walk around the club, but it’s the same waiver I would have signed if I came as a guest with a member. I’ve signed your waiver. I’m mid swim workout & now I need to get out of the pool & sign up for a membership. I’m going to sit freezing & wet signing docs to get back into the pool? The whole encounter was mind blowing. I have multiple gym memberships & am always treated with incredible kindness at them. Unfortunately, they don’t have a pool. I prefer to give my business & money where people are treated with kindness. If you are the same I would recommend going down the hill as many reviews have already stated.

Negative experience: After having an interaction with the GM I was told I was she decides who is a member at AFRC and my membership would be canceled. That woman is insane. Most insane interaction I ever had at a gym. Join at your own risk.
Negative experience: Stopped by to look at pools. Young brunette genius male wouldnt allow me to carry my 14# cockapoo with me. Hypoallergenic. UNREASONABLE. Lost another fanily. Didnt apoear clean either. And i readabout greed of mgmt. ill pass. I prefer to deal with reasonable folks and clean facilities. Your loss
Fantastic experience: AMAZING! Super nice staff who I’ve become pretty good friends with nearly all of them. Super clean equipment along with locker rooms. Very very kind and professional staff as well as fellow members. They have everything, too, from pools, to classes, to squat racks, to smoothie bars (pre covid), massages, and way more. LOVE IT!! Great place and family friendly.

Fantastic experience: My family and I really love the racquet club!! There is something for everyone in the family and we love making memories on the pool deck in the Summer.
Negative experience: Do not give them your business. I fell on hard times (perm disabled) and couldn't pay my fees so I asked for the 20 dollar a month hold which is outlined in the contract. I was told to "allow my card to decline" so they could put me on the 20 dollar plan retroactively. My card was never charged so I called in and was told the accountant was on lunch. Called again a few weeks later and was told everything was set up. Then recently I got called by a collections agency saying I owe them way more money than 20 dollars a month for a few months. I never once received a phone call from the club asking for money or trying to fix the problem before this. They just auto sent it to collections. I called them after I received the call from collections and was told the accountant was on vacation and that they would look into it and call me back. They did not call me back. Now my credit is reporting that they are still trying to collect even though their employee said I was doing the right thing. Honestly I think they are against disabled people because this all happened right when I was declared permanently disabled. Screw this place!
Negative experience: Had an issue at AFRC and found the new GM totally unhinged and 100% unprofessional. Tried to talk to the owner and the owner said the GM felt threatened. After that I interaction I quit and joined Johnson's Ranch and have never been happier. Other than 2 lap pools the place is trash. Oh btw the two lap pools and spas always have issues. Members at AFRC told me owner is the problem and didnt want to believe the crazy stuff they told me, but yes it is 100% true.
Positive experience: Overall, a nice place. Nothing fancy but nice and well kept nonetheless. Good people and clientele and a very easy going staff who do a great job but without taking their job too seriously thus are pleasant to be around. More consistent and publicly accessible pricing would be appreciated versus their top secret, negotiate and learn afterwards that others pay 20% more/ less for 1-2 years.
Negative experience: The club is a bit cleaner than it was before. Its actually at the spot where it should have been prior to the Pandemic. But not Covid friendly at all in my honest opinion. Still really dirty, never see anyone cleaning anything. But, three young idiots sit at the front desk for hours chatting. I would have two of them cleaning all day.
Negative experience: Refuses to pause membership even though the club is CLOSED indefinitely. The management is looking out for themselves over their customers. I understand the need to keep the lights on but being unwilling to work with your loyal customers during a global pandemic is downright unacceptable.
Negative experience: I agree with others that this club is only interested in profit over the health of their members during the pandemic. They mocked me when I complained about them breaking the law and opening when unsafe to do so, and then they terminated my membership. They are only a less than a mediocre gym except for the pools. All else is comparatively substandard compared the other clubs I am a member of. I’m 68 years old and in good shape but I’ll let them take the $150 they refused to refund for future months dues as opposed to becoming infected. Don’t join this club! It’s a loser!
Fantastic experience: Let me first say that I don’t usually write reviews however I feel like they deserve one. I joined the Club a few weeks ago and have been impressed with the facilities and staff. They’ve answered all my questions, and have been extremely helpful. Very clean...equipment is spotless. Pools have been well maintained along with outdoor amenities and grounds. Kids Club was great also, my son was willing to go back, so plus, plus! People are friendly as well...literally walking down the hallway and couple people said hi. Had a couple good conversations out by the pool. Anyway, so much to say, I’ve joined a few gyms in my lifetime and this one is A+ I have no affiliation whatsoever. Just a girl who thinks the Auburn Racquet Club has a little something extra to offer!
Negative experience: Extremely rude management! Constantly nagged by these people, and I'm not even a member! Get over yourselves, and stop yelling at people.
Positive experience: Overall a decent gym and the best option for multiple amenities in Auburn...pools, tennis, volleyball, racquetball, pilates, yoga, massage, hot tub, sauna, the list goes on and on. Minus one star for not having an organized volleyball activity. Their beautiful sand volleyball court was half the reason I joined in the first place. I'd inquired at the front desk about it, they took my number, and then I never received any follow-up. And minus one more star because I know they gave someone else a better deal on their membership than the one I received. It's tough enough to go work out in public...now the club is picking favorites? I'd rather join a gym that treats everyone equally. A member for 2 years and now discontinuing.
Negative experience: I went into the gym to inquire about joining. The front desk refused to answer any membership questions. They said I would have to talk to the membership sales person for pricing. That sent up a red flag for me. In my experience, any place that won't tell you up front what it costs to join is being deceptive. I've read every review about this gym because I did want to join but I found A LOT of comments from people with the same red flag feeling as me. They couldn't get anyone to tell them what the membership cost and those that were members complained of shady fees being charged. Check Yelp too. If the girl at the desk had just said "it costs X for an individual" I would have probably joined. Every gym I've ever joined that insisted on me making an appointment with a sales rep has screwed me in some way. Someone please tell me why the price is a secret!
Fantastic experience: wow, don't understand the negative reviews I'm reading here! I was a member of this club awhile ago (briefly, but had to move out of the area) and loved it. Membership guy (I think his name was Luke) really nice and engaging, and mostly what I loved were the multiple great swimming pools, since I mainly swim laps. Would join again if I lived here.
Fantastic experience: Staff is friendly and helpful, classes and instructors are great, hours, location, and facility very nice. I've belonged to various clubs/gyms in different cities...this one is among the best.
Negative experience: This club is one of the worst gyms I've been to. The kids club is never open when you actually need it. The snack bar is open only at odd times. The construction is ongoing. Over a year and it's not even close to being open. If there was a calfit up here this place would be blown away. On top of all that over 170$ a month for 2 people. Outrageous expensive. Don't waste your time here.
Fantastic experience: This is the place to go if you need day care or a snack from the snack bar or if you want to loose weight or swim in a pool or you can join the shark swim team! If you want/need ANYTHING they have it!

Negative experience: Membership Rep. Luke is cold, rude and impersonal. I requested information and pricing for a membership he flipped open a binder to the pricing and then said "So do you want to sign up?" I said "Let me think about it" he said "Think about it" nothing more. No thank you for coming in, if I can answer any questions for you please let me know, or even goodbye. I let myself out of his office. His rude, impersonal behavior is a telling sign of what membership would be like. He made my mind up for me before I ever left the club.
Negative experience: Don't EVER try to get OUT of your contract due to a LEGITIMATE medical condition.....they have NO MERCY and will ding you a great amount financially. I am very upset and disappointed that they are so rigid and unwilling to work with us to get out of our bind - piling medical bills don't allow us to pay the amounts they are demanding. FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic experience: My family of three have been at the club for nearly 3 years. It is very family friendly and we have enjoyed our experience. Nice facilities and nice staff. We hate to say goodbye, but we are moving out of the area.
Negative experience: They are too busy to show potentially new members around without an appointment. I can't imagine that works very well. It surely didn't for me. Too snobby for me to want to give them my money every month.
Fantastic experience: Completely disagree with the first reviewer. Whenever equipment is broken, a sign is put on the equipment saying what's wrong with it and when it is expected to be fixed. The facility is state of the art & immaculate since the remodel...the best club in the foothills.
Fantastic experience: I've been a member for several years. I love my personal trainer. They just remodeled the place as well.
