Skaneateles YMCA & Community Center

Fantastic experience: I recently joined the center and have been blown away by the experience. The facility is huge--there is something for everyone--and it is clean and friendly. I joined primarily for the rinks, and the value cannot be beat: There is nowhere else where you can skate daily, year around, (at multiple times during the day) for the price of the membership fee (most stand alone rinks of this quality charge 15-20 dollars *a session* and more for freestyle). The ice is great, the facility manager was very helpful, and I'm about to head over for my third session of the week. The rest of the facility is gorgeous, and clean, and I'm looking forward to taking yoga and other classes here. Even apart from the rinks, the membership fees are remarkably reasonable (my previous fitness center charges 80 dollars a month for much less in the way of options). A day pass is also very reasonable and I will be taking my guests as well. SCC is a jewel and as someone who has paid significantly more at other centers and received significantly less in return, I feel a bit like I won the lottery. This place makes me wish I lived here full time (I may have to make that happen!), but I will be taking full advantage of it when I am here.

Negative experience: Very negative experience. As out of state visitors we got the family day pass. We were treated rudely and unkindly by patrons. We also were shocked by the negative approach taken by pool staff towards our family- I have never felt so unwelcome or mistreated in a “community” and “family friendly” place. I expressed my concerns to the front desk before exiting; they were kind and apologetic, however the damage was done. I would not recommend this community space to families with young kids (ages 5 and under). The outdoor Austin Park however was delightful to visit.

Fantastic experience: What a great venue for the Home & Garden Show event by McClurg Remodeling. Your community is very lucky to have such an amazing facility. Negative experience: Just want to go ice skating for an hour and have to buy a day pass. I remember the days before this place was built when you could go ice skating with your family and it was affordable. I took my kids a lot and they learned how to skate at the outdoor rink. Will have to travel to Auburn to teach my grandkids how to skate. Not everyone in Skaneateles is rich and when this place was built it was suppose to be a COMMUNITY center.

Fantastic experience: The ball fields are beautiful. The playground clean and well kept. A paved walkway around the fields and park area. The facility amazing. A beautiful place for the entire family

Fantastic experience: Great facility for hockey with two rinks, and plenty of parking. There’s a Starbucks coffee vending machine next to the usual drinks and snacks. Looking forward to the next trip.

Fantastic experience: My daughter and I Ice skate and swim here 2 to 3 times a week ..it's very clean and Professional. The workout weight room has all the equipment needed and there are classes every day that is free if you are a member. I would definitely recommend this place.

Positive experience: Great rink with good ice. Seats have heaters above them to keep spectators warm

Positive experience: Nice facility. Rinks are good. There's heat. The concession stand has a bunch of stuff. We came for Hockey.

Positive experience: Was here for a hockey tournament. Only used the two hockey rinks, but was happy with the facilities. The parking got a little crowded but that's to be expected for a tournament. The rinks were nice with sufficient stands for both rinks. The team benches were good for both rinks. There was a nice large canteen and plenty of space in the waiting area. I didn't use any of the other parts of the facility (exercise room, gym, pool) but they looked nice. I wouldn't mind coming back here again.

Negative experience: I received extremely poor service from this YMCA while trying to get lifeguard re-certified. I saw their flyer online and called to register 2 weeks in advance of the class. The attendant at the desk took down all of my information and very abruptly ended the call. A few days later I emailed the aquatic director because I had not received any information about the online portion of the class. After not hearing back, I called twice and left messages to which I heard no response. The third time I called, one day before the class was scheduled, I was FINALLY able to reach the aquatic director who informed me that the attendant at the desk never registered me and the class was cancelled. Was told on the phone that I would get an email about the reasoning for not being registered and have yet to hear back. This is a MAJOR inconvenience for me as a college student as I will be returning to school in Rochester and now unable to make any other classes. This also means that I can now not work until I update my certification which is a HUGE detriment to me. I've never received such unprofessional service from an establishment and I will not be returning.

Fantastic experience: Spoke to Allie on the phone. I had a ton of questions, she knew all the answers instantly and was very polite. So excited to go ice skating there.

Fantastic experience: Super facilities. 2 indoor rinks! And a great pool.

Negative experience: There are so many programs here you can never just go with your family and have fun because you are constantly getting kicked out of whatever you are using. The gym the pool you name it.

Fantastic experience: There are a lot of free workout classes you can choose to do the first pool is 8 lanes. So sometimes you might have to share a lane but normally it's not need the second pool. Has water works and a slide they have a hot tub. Weight room is nice and gym is good. They have 2 ice rinks never had an issue using an thing but like I said sometimes you have to share a lane.
