Astoria Aquatic Center: Opinions
Fantastic experience: My two year old fell in love with swimming here. Super clean, attentive staff, great music to swim to!
Negative experience: A very disappointing aquatic center.
Fantastic experience: I feel safe with their friendly staff.
Negative experience: I've been coming to this pool for over 20 years, I've only ever worn jean shorts and a swim top. My 3year old granddaughter was in town from Texas and we decided to go swimming and they kicked me out of the pool for wearing jean shorts and completely ruined a memory for my granddaughter. I asked where this was stated and they searched for a peice of paper that says no exposed buckles rivits or snaps. Nowhere on their website nor posted anywhere in the pool does it say that jean shorts are not allowed! aside from the fact that I've come there wearing them for over 20 years and Noone has ever commented about it
Positive experience: Love the local aquatic center. Great staff! Could be cleaner, but I'm not complaining too much!
Fantastic experience: Very friendly desk staff! Checking in is a breeze. We feel very safe in the water there - especially since my son is still learning how to swim. Swim instructors are very patient and kind, plus class sizes are small. They utilize various equipment, teaching the youngsters how to swim. The slide is AWESOME. They allow my son to go down with me! Lazy river is fun too. Such a great pool, in such a small community!
Negative experience: This aquatic center is cozy and has very friendly staff. Unfortunately in this center anyone can take your things and steal them. I went swimming and when I was done, I went to the shower and hung up my swimsuit to drain some of the water. My locker is one meter away and I got ready to get dressed. After 10 minutes when I finished I went for my suit that was literally in front of me but it was not there. In a matter of seconds a woman quickly grabbed my swimsuit while I was getting dressed. We made the report but there won't be much to do. It's that easy to have your things stolen here. So if you go to this aquatic center, be careful when leaving your things even just one meter away from you. There will be someone waiting for the best opportunity to steal your belongings. Especially in the women's locker room. And in the end they won't be able to help you enough!
Fantastic experience: I do wish their open/lap swims were on the same hours on the weekdays as Saturday. That would be convenient for me when I get off work and want to get a swim in before heading home. I would like to mention that this facility does have private changing rooms.
Fantastic experience: The pool should institute more lap pool hours to decrease crowding.
Fantastic experience: This is amazing! There is a deep end and shallow end in the first pool, and a lap pool in the other! 10/10 would recommend
Fantastic experience: Fantastic asset to Astoria and the region. Almost a hidden gem in winter so hope this isn’t seen too much.
Negative experience: Made us feel so uncomfortable. The staff was not on the same page at all. On the phone they say one thing, in person they say another. Very disappointed and upset with our experience.
Negative experience: You as a parent are not allowed to take your child in the hottub or large cold pool. If they are not 6 years old. Extremely frustrating . No consistency. I've been kicked out of the hottub and than seen children under 6 in the hottub. You pay the same fee as people who get to go into the hottub and large pool. Tuesday and Thursdays, you are restricted to a small portion of the pool. They will not turn the lazy river. The Lazy river is only accessible during physical therapy hours making it unavailable. Or Saturdays when very crowded!
Positive experience: There is a 6-lane lap pool, hot tub, water slide, recreation swim area, aerobic equipment, and smaller weight room. The lap pool is on the colder side, great for swimming laps ;) . Of note, Saturdays can be extremely busy; 2-3 lanes are reserved Tues/Thurs for the coast guard in the mornings. I usually get a lane to myself, but, at most, 2 people share a lane. Staff are friendly and helpful. Lap swim + gym use = $8 as of Sept 2023.
Fantastic experience: Great restrooms!
Fantastic experience: Nice place to relax and get some therapeutic exercise.
Negative experience: Very dirty outside!
Fantastic experience: The kids loved the slide, I love the lazy river & the slide, we had a blast it was a wet rainy day but we were inside having fun. ** It's still a blast & they are offering swim lessons again! Makes timing a little more challenging we don't always make it before 1, so we have to wait til after 4 pm. 5 on Tues & Thurs with lessons now, it's the best clean fun you can find! And it's open 6 days a week, rain or shine, just check the hours!
Fantastic experience: Wow! This place is amazing. What a great place for families. My girls are loving their swim lessons. Friendly, helpful staff.
Fantastic experience: This is a very nice facility. Friendly staff and plenty of life guards. Very clean and orderly. There’s a large lap pool, and a big family pool with a water-walking lane. There’s also a big jacuzzi. Generally, the water temps are mid-hi 70s for the lap pool, mid 80s in the family pool and mid-hi 90s in the jacuzzi. Very comfortable temps all around for senior citizens. There’s also a fully equipped workout room with all the weight apparatus, and plenty of bikes, ellipticals and rowing machines. ✅Free parking ✅Towels (with membership) ✅Drinking water station ✅Clean changing rooms & lockers The Astoria Aquatic Center is a great facility and a real asset to this community!
Positive experience: It's nice pool and play area with a slide and a kiddie pool !
Fantastic experience: Great, family values oriented place. Awesome pool, if you have kids, there is a slide, and a swimming basketball hoop. Hot tub and micro gym. Towel heaters even. The staff are polite, and friendly. Lap swimming for days, at a, clean, affordable rate. Where I grew up, Nor Cal, we only had a kiddie pool, and a dillibated Olympic size pool. Again, even with a third less average income, Astoria comes through in an awesome manner.
Fantastic experience: Love the facility. I enjoy working out in the pool and am working my way to laps. Did 53 miles in the pool last month!
Fantastic experience: It was great!
Fantastic experience: One of my favorite places!!!!
Fantastic experience: You can tell this place is managed well and operated by amazing people who genuinely care about everyone who comes in.
Fantastic experience: I enjoy coming to this swim center. Wish they had extended hours. So glad they are open again for the community
Fantastic experience: Excellent Facility, but keep weird hours.
Fantastic experience: Always a fun day, hope they open up fully soon.
Fantastic experience: 5 Star for Aquatic Center. Love (♥️) both the gym and pool. And stay strong to keep on flexing by built muscle () by the new Goonie person name Rocky from Mountain Home, Arkansas. I may come buy there and look around after i moving out of Arkansas whatever i may. May my great god bless Astorian people and that Aquatic Center too. Thank you. Rocky.
Fantastic experience: My partner and I got a membership here. It’s a cute little community; there’s a gym for workouts, pools and a hot tub, and the staff and locals are quite friendly.
Negative experience: Great staff but not so clean. Stalls are kinda dirty and shower liners are really nasty and I have heard the same complaints from others. The water it’s that sanitary but it’s a public pool so take our own risk...
Fantastic experience: I enjoy the aquatic Center so much, I have been building myself back up from being sick and the lazy river is perfect for water arobics I'm up to doing a lap in the Olympic size pool. Great locker and shower room. They also have family changing rooms. My next goal is to start on the exercise equipment. Great counter help too.lifeguards are always vidgulent in their jobs. Great place for family fun.
Positive experience: Very expensive.
Fantastic experience: Great place to take the kids for a swim or lessons.
Fantastic experience: Pretty clean, and the staff is very helpful!
Positive experience: My grandson's are on the North Coast Swim Club.
Fantastic experience: 5am swimming is great

Positive experience: ASTORIA AQUATIC CENTER
Fantastic experience: Get place to swim with your family
Negative experience: Some 1 puke
Fantastic experience: Great place for the family. 1 huge slide, 1 Olympic pool, kiddie pool, cardio room, clean locker rooms, even space to rent for party's.
Fantastic experience: They have great old folks and younge folks to chill with in the hottub ,and even though im not a kid the waterslide is fun to go on .
Fantastic experience: Perfect Saturday afternoon, clean and well cared for. Staff was helpful, informative, and friendly. And slide. Yay
Negative experience: Kinda of disappointed the hot tub was lukewarm and everything was upon request. Just disappointed for price i paid
Negative experience: Disgusted at time My 13 year old couldn't get in the pool with her friends because of the time because they had to have a 16 year old with them but a half an hour later they could swim perfectly fine by themselves.
Positive experience: Love taking my daughter there. But it is always freezing in there! They have that doorway open to the locker rooms and sometimes the door out to the front and cold air just blows in. I couldn't even fathom bringing my baby in during the winter time. Or swimming in the lap pool. Please keep it warmer!
Negative experience: Their website is garbage and no one can answer a phone, or call me back so I can get my kid into swim lessons.
Positive experience: It was really cool accept the life guards were kinda of rude to my children, And my children were being little angel's But apparently the life guard's were being rude and judge mental.
Fantastic experience: Well im on the swim team and i think its a great place all of the lifeguards a super nice but theres one lifeguard that i like the most and is always nice to me ( you know who you are ) the front desk people are really nice
Fantastic experience: They have two large pools. One is an excellent lap pool. The other is mainly a large play area for the kids. It has a huge slide going in. There is also a hot tub. The place can get crowded and loud on a Sat afternoon. If you want some more peace and quiet, go before noon. Cost is $7.50 to enter. Unless you get a membership. Go and enjoy.
Fantastic experience: The Manger is so accommodating And because of this the pool really is totally.accessible. The staff are always friendly and my whole family enjoys swimming here all times of the day!!
Fantastic experience: Clean and safe, great experience. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful, lifeguards were attentive. I don't have kids, but my partner and I come in to do lap swim every morning. Pool is always quiet, not too crowded, and staff has a good attitude. Glad we have the funds for a membership this spring!
Negative experience: No longer a fun, family place. They took our money, and then after an hour of swimming, told us that there weren't enough adults, and wouldn't refund our money! There were no problems ... the kids were swimming peacefully and quietly. No other kids were there, and there were two lifeguards. Out of nowhere, they wanted me to be within arms reach of my kids who are strong swimmers, while at the same time holding my small baby, all the while agreeing that it was impossible. Embarrassing and confrontational. Have been going here since it opened, and never had any issues, whatsoever. Noticed the last few times that it's getting "creepy" under the guise of "safety". The staff used to be awesome! Also noticed that they close the kiddie pool an hour before close sometimes, citing "chlorine issues." Makes me sort of laugh wryly. Kind of takes the fun out of swimming. The lifeguards pace and keep a closer eye on the adults "arms reach" than the kids. Kind of sad, really. Maybe the help is getting lazy or incompetent. I don't know. They told me they had to call 911 for an incident. So, maybe they can't find good lifeguards anymore? Maybe their training needs training. The whistle and the doll splashed in the water doesn't seem to work, but it quiets the place for a while.
