Positive experience: No AC and filthy in both locations. I’ve never been to a gym like this before. The bathroom is filthy and the top of the toilet is missing. The shower in the other location is equally as dirty as this one but the final straw for me was seeing the towels in there. Does anyone even clean this facility?! I’m not touching anyone’s dirty towels or standing in a shower full of dirt and grime and hair in it! Let alone the counter for water and other treats has a filthy sink beside it. They need to do better. I’m looking for another gym once my commitment is over. This is disgusting. Let alone the condescending comments on the wall. Seems like there’s just a bunch of careless and combative energy here. I’ve seen previous commenters going back and forth with the owner and I’m not even going to waste my breath. If they don’t care, there’s no point. I guess you pay for what you get. Edit: The owner Steve actually reached out to discuss this. The shower has an issue and someone left the water running so it was flooded which is why the towels are there. He addressed all of my concerns professionally. They do clean the gym it just depends on what time of day you get there and depending on whoever previously used the gym and if they decided to clean up after themselves. Since there is no staff on site 24/7 you may run into stuff like this. People need to do better, but beyond that it’s a solid gym. Definitely beware of the weather when coming here in the summer. Snag a fan nearby if you can. They have plenty on site which help with the heat during your workout.

Fantastic experience: Love this gym. Been going for over almost 2 years. Owner can be tough, but is just a big teddy bear. Him and his Fiancé Jenn are constantly working for the gyms. Tons of equipment I’d never seen at a commercial gym. Can get sweaty but I love that part. Great community. I’ve made some lifetime friends from here.

Fantastic experience: When I came to archetype I was stunned at how it compares to other gyms. It’s clean like no other. There’s no shortage of equipment. And the trainers and owner (Steve) that I’ve met are cool as hell. There’s also always someone playing air hockey in the front rooms which is dope! Definitely top consideration for gyms right now.

Fantastic experience: I used to work out at Ronnie Coleman's gym on my way to two world championships, and Archetype Strength has the same kind of vibe. This is the kind of gym where champions train.

Fantastic experience: I had to come to Raleigh for work and this place is awesome. It does offer weekly and 2 day passes so that worked out perfectly. I also noticed their monthly membership is priced very fairly for a gym that has a lot of great equipment inclusion several specialty bars, squat racks, deadlift platforms, calibrated plates and a lot more

Negative experience: Shady business. I spoke to a woman at the Cary location a few weeks before my membership was supposed to end and told her I wanted to cancel. I made sure to confirm with her that it would not auto-renew and she said I was good to go. I end up getting a charge the next month and I call the gym. A guy picks up (assuming this is the owner) and he’s immediately combative saying that I needed to give 30 days notice and cancel through the site. After I mentioned what she had told me, he said they “didn’t have anyone who worked at a front desk” I said, “Then who did I talk to?” (The woman was in one of their office rooms sitting at a desk when I spoke to her) He had no real response and kept saying “it’s in the contract how to cancel blahblahblah.” I understand if I missed the fine print but maybe you guys shouldn’t have someone telling people the wrong thing? All she had to do was tell me to go online but instead you guys refuse to take any accountability. Clearly highly unorganized and makes me think they probably do this to people all the time. Seems that way from other reviews too.

Archetype Strength - 24 Hour Open Gym

One, I am pretty sure you are confusing my gym with another gym - we don't have a front desk and our only female employee not only has no recollection of the conversation, and she also tells everyone the company line "all cancellations are done on the website".Second, I dont know how we could possibly make cancelling an account easier - its a form on the website under the menu item "cancel membership" that takes 30 seconds to fill out. Its in the original signup forms, the signup emails we sent you, and we require you check 3 boxes during signup that you understand that "all cancellations are done through the website". We make cancelling an account easy to avoid situations like this - people claiming they can't or dont know how to cancel. Its easy - you just go to the website and click the button "cancel membership". No exit interviews, no written notice, no long term contracts, nothing - literally just a link on the site (that we also emailed you directly) thats open to the public. If you are reading this - go to the website and check, has cancelling a gym membership ever been that easy for you in the past? The "other reviews" you mentioned that claimed they cancelled had the same issue - people that didn't pay attention, or refused to follow the absurdly simple company terms, then turned around and tried to blame the company for their mistake. They try to use a negative review as leverage to force me to abandon my terms to compensate for their mistake - and I refuse. If there was an error on our part, we ALWAYS fix it. This wasn't that.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going here for over a year now and coming here is pretty often the highlight of my day after a long work day! The gym itself is quality, and the people and community is top notch. I’ve been a member at a variety of gyms in the past (and worked at a big gym for years) and no place has ever been as unassumingly great as Archetype. It won’t be for everyone, but I’m so glad I gave it a shot!

Fantastic experience: A Hidden Gem: Unbeatable Garage Gym Experience with Top-Notch Equipment and Community As a lifelong fitness enthusiast, it's rare to find a gym that truly stands out from the rest. But that's exactly what I discovered at Archetype. This remarkable facility combines the raw authenticity of a garage gym with industry-standard equipment and a community of members who share a genuine passion for lifting. Walking into Archetype, you instantly feel the garage gym vibe. The exposed brick walls, metal beams, and old-school garage doors create an atmosphere that is both nostalgic and inspiring. The gym is always clean and well-maintained, with the perfect balance between industrial charm and modern functionality. What sets Archetype apart is the exceptional quality of the equipment. With a vast array of industry-standard gear, it caters to a variety of fitness enthusiasts—from powerlifters and bodybuilders to CrossFit athletes and casual gym-goers. They offer an impressive selection of free weights, resistance machines, and cardio equipment, allowing members to customize their workouts according to their personal goals. If you're looking for a place to challenge yourself and grow both physically and mentally, look no further. I wholeheartedly recommend Archetype to anyone seeking a unique, inspiring, and motivating gym experience.

Negative experience: Walked in during business hours, no one was there. Scheduled a face to face appointment, no one came but I was allowed to check the place out on my own. Asked to check out the 2nd location at same time of the first appointment before making a final decision to sign a minimum of 3months contract. Was told I could. Went and no one was there and the door was locked. Checked messages, was left on “seen.” Nevertheless, still liked the setup of the gym and the 24hr access, so asked how to sign up and even asked about a group membership for my significant other. Was left on “seen”again… I’m good, dawg ✌

Archetype Strength - 24 Hour Open Gym

Hi, thanks for the 1 star review. We have a variety of people helping to staff our instagram account, and as a business do not primarily use instagram as a sole means of communication with prospective clients. You visited both locations by appointment only on multiple occasions, because as we discussed the gym is by appointment only - your business hours do not dictate my business hours. You managed to find our google page and website, both of which have our business numbers on them on every single page that we answer and respond to within seconds, yet still relied on a social media messenger to be your sole form of communication with us, but get mad that we didn't respond fast enough for you? This ain't the gym for you my friend.

Negative experience: I visited the gym yesterday. I was under the impression I would at least meet the owner or a manager, instead I was provided a code. Immediately I was impressed with the equipment and cleanliness and layout. I immediately looked up the drop in charge and realized I didn’t want to pay 30 dollars then potentially pay another 65 for a membership if I liked it. I just signed up for the membership, but realized as my workout progressed, this was not the place for me. I saw no other Powerlifting competitors and was missing some of the equipment I needed. I realized the time I would typically train didn’t have the gym environment I was searching for. I immediately regretted signing up. I sent the owner a message explaining this and asking if there was a way to count what I paid as a drop in fee (even though it was double the fee) and to void the 3 month contract since I technically hadn’t even started it yet. I do understand that I may not receive the answer I want. The owner responded the next day trying to convince me to give it a chance. I explained it wasn’t what I was looking for and then he proceeded to tell me he couldn’t cancel and the contract was clear. They have classes, coaches, awesome people, etc. I was very clearly not looking for classes or even coaches, but a Powerlifting gym/community. I also received a email with the rules which state no one could spot you, which I am absolutely not comfortable with. Sharing equipment also isn’t allowed. I understand the contract, but between the mandatory contract, fees, and unwillingness to void it when it will not affect business at all makes me believe it’s more about money than members and community. The gym could be great, but there are too many fees and contracts and you have to jump through hoops to cancel. Can’t wait for the next three months to be over. Edit: I do realize I signed up and I take accountability for that, but after this review the owner reached out via text to argue with me about this review and then refused to answer a question I had about the contract further proving my intuition about this place was spot on. Avoid this place!

Archetype Strength - 24 Hour Open Gym

Yikes. Ok - where do we start. You did a free trial... you joined on your own accord because you said you loved the place (no sales pitch - we didnt even meet you in person - the same we do every tour)...you understood (because you checked and initialed that you understood) our terms are SUPER simple, super fair - no long term contracts, a 3 month minimum (unlike most gyms which lock you in long term) and then 30 day notice which is put in right online - no meetings or exit interviews or anything crazy.Reasonable, right? Seems pretty simple to understand, and by gym standards - fair?Well - you decided that after signing up, you in your own words "aren't asking for special treatment" but you wanted me to "cancel your membership immediately" and bypass the terms you agreed to. And to top it off you did that after leaving a 1 star review 12 hours after joining.Come on - be better. "Too many fees" - We have a SINGLE signup fee of $29 - thats literally it."Too many contracts" - we literally have a 3 month minimum that is stated ON THE SIGNUP page of our website. It quite literally couldn't be more plainly stated. "Unwillingness to void it" - you damn right - I wouldn't void the 3 month minimum for Santa Claus, i sure as hell will not void it for you. If you didn't want to sign up, you shouldn't have - if you didn't want a 3 month minimum, you shouldn't have agreed to one.Have a good day.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been searching for a gym home for a couple weeks now and I finally found something worth the pay! When I first toured the weight room/gym I was very impressed! It’s very spacious, the equipment is extremely nice. The atmosphere and environment is neat and clean. The overall vibe is great! I fit in with all the other people and I did not feel uncomfortable at all. I love how there’s 2 locations it’s so convenient especially by the gym being open 24 hours a day! I’m excited to be a member here. I highly recommend this facility and the staff are excellent as well! No regrets!

Negative experience: I wished there was a zero or negative star for the professionalism and communication. Canceling your membership is nearly impossible after giving a 30 day notice and paying the final monthly payment. We cancelled on 02/26/22 and should have paid our last monthly membership March 2022. However we have been billed April and May. We contacted them immediately in April and received a text "Calm down Bro" we will fix it and nothing happened. So May comes and on the 1st we were charged but immediately refunded. We were happy and thought finally we are done, they have cancelled the membership. Then today there is a charge for membership fees. We called and immediately there was a combative tone and exchange. It is never them and the problem is never rectified. We should not have to cancel our card. I just wonder how many other consumers have this problem. Cancelling seems to be impossible. My next step is the Better Business Bureau and any other consumer advocacy outlets and Bro we are calm.

Archetype Strength - 24 Hour Open Gym

You asked us to price match planet fitness at $10 a month and give you a free permanent guest pass, and we declined. You then cancelled your account using a different name than was on your account - your cancel form said Stephon but your account was listed under Maurice. Without having a Stephon in the system, there was no account to cancel. Following that, your husband called us and threatened to physically harm our staff after you guys called the wrong gym to ask about your account, and even after we told you we would take care of the account. After telling you I would be contacting the police, your husband then threatened to go to the gym immediately to "raise hell". After being welcomed to come and discuss face to face, your husband then was miraculously out of town and "would be back next week". Cancelling takes a 30 second online form in which you input the proper information and your account will be cancelled. Had that process been followed, the entire situation afterwards would have been avoided.

Positive experience: The gym itself (Cary location) is in good shape and has a wide range of equipment. Though, it was lacking some TLC when I had last went, which I also provided as feedback when I canceled via the online form. Easy things like cleaning up the bathroom and gym, keeping sanitary items stocked, and so on. I ultimately canceled as I switched to a closer gym, but, those items did play a small role in my decision. It seems as though the owner is a bit removed from the day-to-day workings and perhaps that plays a big part in my primary concerns. Perhaps more focused on the new location that is soon to be opening. So all in all the gym itself is Ok; however, my review is largely based on the cancelation process, which if you couldn’t tell from previous reviews is horrendous. The owner should take this as a sign that it’s time to fix what is a very broken process. I canceled via the online form and received no confirmation. I then followed up via email with the owner and once again received no confirmation. I was then overcharged the next month after canceling, contacted the owner, and with the same pattern received no confirmation or response. Ultimately, I filed a fraud claim with my bank against the overcharge and thankfully was refunded. ** UPDATE ** Adding on to my review and switching from 2 to 4 after receiving a heartfelt call from Dominick expressing his concerns and apologies. Sounds like they're taking all of the feedback (from everyone) and applying it with sincerity, which I loved to hear. I wish nothing but the best for Archetype and I hope that all the kinks are sorted out soon. I did truly enjoy the gym (and may return one day). As the saying goes, "Take care of your customer and the business will take care of itself."

Fantastic experience: I just signed up three days ago. First of all, I’m wildly in love with this gym. Before I signed up, I called the number posted on google and it’s the actual owners’ cell phone. His tone and delivery is straight to the point. I asked one question about rates and he not only answered it, but he covered sign up fee, prorate, discount codes, and the cancellation process. I actually read the terms and conditions on the sign up site and giggled at a few of the sections because it was clearly written by the owner himself but also written quite professionally. This gym owner takes serious pride in himself from what it seems, and I love that he comes across as someone who’s so confident in himself that he’ll be so real and cut to the chase without having to feel like he has to sell me into a membership. He knows what he has to offer and he’s firm on his standards. I think his price for access to TWO 24/7 gyms is also awesome. I’m so grateful for access to a gym that’s loaded with attachments, 24/7 access, and all the space I need to thrive.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to Archetype Strength for almost a year now. Since January (it is now November) I've lost a total of 45lbs, severely reduced my body fat, and put on a bit of noticeable muscle. Archetype, for me, has been the best gym I've ever held a membership at - and I've tried more than a few over the years. A gym is a gym, right? And it only matters how much work YOU put in. While this is true - not all gyms are created equal, and the results you get will differ depending on what you have access to. That's one of the best things about Archetype, you have access to everything, 24/7. It's a private, very clean, and professional gym. As such - you don't wait in line for that one bro to FINALLY get off the rower/squat rack/bench. You don't have to struggle to find space to actually use free weights, and you have access to extra stuff I've never had at other gyms before such as multiple punching bags, sledgehammers and tractor tires, and weight sleds. On top of all of that, the owner, Steve, is easy to work with. A simple text will resolve 99% of the issues that can occur at the gym. A piece of equipment is out of order? It won't be the next time you go in if you let him know. Have a request for a small piece of equipment such as a particular bar for the cable machines, he'll likely order it if you just text him about it. You also get access to a private gym Facebook group, the option for personal training with a decently flexible schedule, and access to friendly challenges for reps within the gym via the blackboards. It's not $10 a month, and I'm glad - because the people that pay to go to Archetype are serious about making a change in their lives. I've fit into clothing sizes this year that I haven't in almost a decade. The work you put in at Archetype Strength, the results you'll see in yourself, and the other friendly people you'll meet there truly make this the best gym in Cary.

Fantastic experience: Great OPEN GYM. Just go in anytime, do your workout and leave. Owner is great, not many gyms can you text the owner directly. Any issues, send him a text. It will be resolved promptly. The facility is always clean and maintained. No broken equipment, missing weights, etc. Highly recommended for a great open gym experience.

Fantastic experience: I have had such good experience with this place that I would recommend it to anyone looking for gym that not only serves its purpose with having the equipment needed but does so much more then that. I am able to go at the time that fits my schedule since they’re always open & communication is great everyone is respectful and most importantly I don’t feel judged. I feel good when I’m here and I love it!

Negative experience: Bad business been trying to cancel my membership and no one in the office is to be found. My account has be charged over the months.

Archetype Strength - 24 Hour Open Gym

You called another gym asking them how to cancel your membership at our gym - then tried to cancel your membership with us using another gyms policies, I am sorry for the mixup but you can't cancel your membership at our gym using another gyms cancellation policies (they require you to go in and have a meeting, we do not). We have used the same form of cancellation for 4 years - a digital form that requires no in person meeting, that your husband used months ago to cancel his account without issue. We are at the office by appointment only.

Eve Lewis 3 years ago

Negative experience: The gym is great, but should you ever have an issue BEWARE - the ownership/Steve is incredibly combative and unprofessional. And true to form, you do not have to take my word for it - just scroll any negative review on this string and note Steve's response. Each response is combative and takes zero accountability for areas that he could have done better. Similar to Kyle ( note his review and Steve's response - a complete lack of accountability for billing the poor guy for 5 consecutive months after the original challenge that Kyle signed up for ended!). My experience is similar - i signed a six month contract (and realize that when you sign up it is on a very small hand held that makes reading/internalizing the contract very challenging). When I finished signing Steve indicated that he'd send me a copy of the contract - but Ive yet to receive it. My contract was from June 30-Dec 30, yet today Steve informs me that once the contract ends, he moves into a month to month billing cycle. Huh? What is the purpose of a contract if I'm still locked into a perpetual month to month. Despite the fact that I provided a text on Dec. 7th confirming my last payment of my six month contract, and that no further drafts should be issued since I was not renewing my contract - he sends me a flurry of aggressive texts today asserting that I was trying to get out of paying a 30 day cancellation fee - today is the first I was ever even made aware of the month to month after the end of my contract term or the need to even provide notice ( again who does that when you have a contract for given terms?). And finally, how do you provide notice? The only notice he'll accept is via a form that is hidden on his site !! A form that you can't find or navigate to own your own! Talk about shady and lacking transparency ! Clearly the lack of clarity and transparency around contract terms , the month -to -month billing , and cancellation processes is an intentional money grab. And what is pitiful is that I considered Steve a friend - I joined for 6 months specifically to support him, and had he operated in an honest straightforward manner, I would have even happily paid $100 bucks for the January cancellation fee, but at this point it's principle. There are lots of gyms with good equipment - think long and hard before you contract with someone so combative and unprincipled. Edit: And yet again, zero accountability in Steve's response. I'm not alone in leveling this exact same complaint that many others have, yet it's all my problem/fault and he has zero accountability. Again - I was never given a copy of the contract - Steve only finally emailed me the contract today after he saw this review.I was never made aware of a month to month provision after a contract term end, He never articulated cancellation processes or where to find the form to cancel. And finally I did provide advance cancellation notice - just not via his process, because he only made me aware that there was a process and a month to month provision TODAY. He got a text from me on Dec 7th articulating my desire to end my contract at terms end, and letting him know I had placed a stop payment on the ACH drafts.. Doesn't sound like someone who cares about his customers or making it easy for them to manage a membership at his gym. Again, life is too short, there are many great gyms- Strengthfeed, Capitol strength, Heat - I've been to every boutique gym in Raleigh and have never had an issue until Steve. Think long and hard before you sign on the dotted line......

Archetype Strength - 24 Hour Open Gym

Your membership agreement stated multiple times that you must put in a 30 day notice, as required by everyone who comes into the gym. You chose not to, and when your payment failed and we contacted you to update your payment method, you instead decide to tell us you won't and you are not renewing. You never canceled, you never requested cancellation, you had an active account with us, and when your payment method failed, at that point you decided its OUR fault that your membership was not automatically terminated? I showed you multiple times on your agreement where it stated in plain english how to cancel, you had to checkbox and initial those points, and we even email you how to cancel your account if you wish to. We go far out of our way to make our gym easy to use, to become a member of and to cancel, and all we ask is our members hold up their end of the deal as well.

Fantastic experience: This is a great facility! After some miscommunication issues the owner (Steve) reached out to me and gave me a free week. Unfortunately, I was not able to utilize this free week because I am a RN currently taking care of COVID-19 patients. I did not want to put the members at risk by continuing to use the gym. They have plenty of equipment and the members do a good job at cleaning once they are finished using it. They also play great music while you are there. It definitely adds to the pump! I recommend this place if you are trying to get big and be apart of an awesome atmosphere.

Fantastic experience: Best gym in the area. Super awesome bunch of guys running the place. So glad i was able to find when others started closing. Very laissez-faire and lots of freedom to actually train. If your job depends on your athletic ability, the covid gym shutdown was potentially a career ender when other athletes elswhere were continuing to get better. Open 24 hours with great quality, predominantly Rogue, equipment and a great atmosphere of people of all experience levels. Feels (like a gym should) like a second home sometimes.

Fantastic experience: Archetype is everything you want in a gym. It has a great environment and top of the line equipment. They have a ton of unique lifting equipment you won’t find at your average gym.

Luke Hayes 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: I love this gym! They have multiple options for all the equipment I need - squat racks, lifting platforms, sleds, rowers, kettlebells, dumbbells, sandbags, airbike, skierg - and it's all very high quality as well. Definitely recommended for anyone in the Cary area.

Negative experience: I wouldn’t recommend this gym. I’m not sure how they used to operate before quarantine but they were one of the first gyms in the area to open during quarantine and they took advantage, charging an outrageous membership fee. This place has no AC, so keep that in mind during high 90 degree summer days, it gets super humid and stuffy. The fans don’t do much but blow hot air, although I knew this before I signed up. What I have issues with is this is a small gym, and it gets packed. There’s supposedly a limit of only 10 ppl at a time in the gym, but there would be 20-25 people in it. Rules say to maintain 12 feet away from each other, impossible when the gym equipment and machines aren’t even two feet apart. All the new assisted machines the owners placed is on top of each other and constantly breaking down. Bathroom is always dirty, as if nobody cleans it. On top of all this, the entire I was a member here, I had billing issues such as charging more than what I was told and would have to contact them multiple times to fix it. Once again, don’t recommend this gym. There’s a lot of other gyms opening up now. Not worth what you’re paying for. RESPONSE TO OWNER: You didn't give me a free month as a compensation, you just overcharged my boyfriend with what I would've owed for the second month, because you overcharged me the first month and never gave me that refund. My second month was most definitely not free. Also, I went to your gym every day when I was a member and went at several different times during the day as well, the bathroom was never clean. You installed the fan after I left, so I can't say much for that. I'm just saying, you don't get what you're paying for at this gym in my opinion.

Archetype Strength - 24 Hour Open Gym

Hi Jennifer. You left a few things out - when we corrected your billing we also gave you a free month to compensate for the issues. Our gym is impeccably clean, our machines are well kept and our members do an incredible job of putting things away and cleaning. I do recommend not joining a gym without air conditioning if you will later have complaints about it not having air conditioning - you knew that the day you joined (even though you only came a few times and not after we installed a $5,000 fan which has cut temps by 10+ degrees). A fitness gym like planet fitness may be a better option for what you are seeking.

Fantastic experience: Man this gym will separate mice from men! Workouts are super challenging & the instructors are patient with the newcomers. Steve thanks for providing a “judgement free” gym where I’m comfortable being me. You & your staff rock! ARCHETYPE STRENGTH! BE THE STANDARD!

Rebecca Barton 5 years ago

Fantastic experience: I’ve started and stopped many gym memberships and have done the classes/personal trainers but none of that compares to this place! The attention to little things, the overly qualified coaches, and the no pressure/judgement from anyone keeps me coming back. The coaches take time to instruct to avoid injury and push you to become stronger. Questions are always welcomed and they work to accommodate everyone in the class. Steve (owner) takes great pride in his gym and all of his clients. He’s constantly available for encouragement, questions, and accountability! Joe and Travis (coaches) are welcoming, very knowledgeable, and make you feel comfortable enough to step out of your comfort zone to surprise yourself! I’ve just signed up for my second challenge and can’t wait to see the results! If you’re thinking of trying something new to increase your health but “normal” gyms or CrossFit aren’t for you (like me) then I highly recommend checking out Archetype Strength..you won’t be disappointed!

Fantastic experience: Love this gym! The coaches are super helpful!! When I first started (4 months ago) I could barely lift 5 pound weights, but with the help and motivation the coaches provided I am a lot more confident, and I am able to lift a lot more. 10/10 would recommend!

Fantastic experience: I have only been going to the gym for a month or so now and I have felt like family to the members and the trainers No one judges and everyone will push you to achieve the goals you set out to reach. The owner Steve will have your back and make sure you are able to reach your goals. Great trainers who are very educated in their field and have helped start to restrenghten my body and mindset. I recommend anyone to come and try it. I have had off days prior to arriving but how the trainers approach you will get you motivated.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, with awesome workouts. Don't feel discouraged if you see their social media & It looks like everyone knows what they're doing because that's not the case. Everyone goes at their own pace & does what they can. I am one of those :) If you are looking for someone to individually cheer you up, you might need a one on one coach. My favorite coaches are Nick & Joe they are very professional, no they don't hold your hand but you can't expect people to do so. However they always explain how to do the workouts & are willing to help. Justin is also an amazing trainer even thou I haven't trained much with him but he seems very passionate about what he does, always optimistic & willing to help you. It all starts with you, all you can do Is try! Overall the people I've referred seem pleased & so am I so far. I've been here for 3 months & only missed my class 2x in all those months. Love it! Ive met Awesome people!

Negative experience: Wouldn't recommend the gym. Can't come to an agreement with Steve, the owner, about what happened. I originally signed up for the challenge and right from the start nothing was organized. The person in charge of signing me up never explained much of the rules or what was going to happen moving forward. In the end, I completed the challenge and began being charged monthly for an ongoing membership which I never agreed to or at the least had not known about. Steve's defended it by saying it's in the terms, small print etc. To his defense sure it might be, but I'm not going to work with a small business owner who tries to trick people into charges. When it was all said and done I trained there for 6 weeks and ended up paying $1148. Was charged ongoing for the last 5 months and I never stepped a foot in the gym. Know what you're signing up for.

Archetype Strength - 24 Hour Open Gym

Kyle, you ignored my text messages when you were an active member for *3* months when you were not attending. We gave you a free 1 on 1 personal training session to begin training again and get a schedule to work out, then you ignored me for another month. I have all of this information clearly documented including our text history and your original gym agreement. We did everything in our power to get you to show up BECAUSE you were an active member, its what we value more than anything is when people who are paying for our service are using it. You choosing not to attend, then blaming the gym that you signed up for because didn't attend, seems like your anger is misplaced, yes?

Fantastic experience: The team at Archetype Strength and Condition have done an amazing job, I have seen them transform an old stone cutting facility into a fantastic gym. The gym is equipped with top of the line premium weights, rowers, racks, bars, you name it. The workouts are challenging, every day I leave feeling accomplished knowing that I worked my ass off. I have been to other 'premium' gyms in Raleigh and have to say that Archetype takes the cake. I finally feel like I'm getting what I paid for: custom workouts and hands-on coaching with fitness professionals.

Jaleesa Louis 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to archetype since March of this year and had some personal issues that kept me from attending, but Steve definitely made me feel like family helping me get back in ASAP. I absolutely love coming to this gym. The people, the vibes, the workouts. Everything is great. I’d recommend anyone to join and get an amazing workout with awesome people. It’s definitely worth it. Going to a regular gym is nothing compared to going to a family felt personal training workout. Check them out!

Fantastic experience: I was looking for a new way to get myself back into shape and try something different. I saw the ad on Facebook for Archtype and decided I was going to try the 6-week challenge they were offering. I met with Steve Olson the owner and I was very nervous about trying this. But I did it and I have to say, I did the work but the program they offer saved my life. It wasn’t about the weight loss, it was about a lifestyle change. And the team at Archetype supports you 100% of the way. You can do this, no excuses!! So if you are looking to make a change in your life, I highly recommend you give them a try. You will not be disappointed!! I went through the 6-week challenge and I am healthier and happier than I have ever been!! They want you to succeed and they help and guide you all the way!!

Stephanie G 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: Awesome place. I joined their 6 week challenge and during it I gained inches in my glutes and arms while losing inches in my waist. Their trainers motivate you to keep going when you think you can’t. Be very specific in your goals and they will help you reach them

Brooke Freeman 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: I started training with Steve at Archetype end of February 2018. I was in a rut and looking for a program to get me back on track with diet and a training routine. My husband and I have years experience in the gym, training and changing diet to reach fitness goals, so we weren’t new to the scene, but that being said, Steve did not disappoint! It’s very obvious Steve has the experience and knowledge to help everyone of all fitness levels to reach their goals. Whether you are a beginner just starting out, never picked up a weight before, or you have been lifting for years, you will learn something new. I really liked that he helped focus on proper form when training. I have been squatting for years and turns out I was doing it all wrong! Another added benefit is the diet plans he puts together for each individual. I would recommend Steve and Archetype Strength to anyone looking to get motivated and get a great workout without having to put to much thought into it. You just show up with a willing attitude and get pushed to your limits! It’s great! I’m back on track and it feels great. Lastly, he offers childcare so it was convenient to workout in the evenings when I had my kiddos with me. They were close by and I was able to check on them throughout my workout, which is always a comfort. The gym overall seems to be very family orientated.

Fantastic experience: This place will def help you get into a healthier lifestyle groove. The six week challenge is awesome. Learn how to eat better and get strong. The workouts are no joke. The trainers are awesome. I never lifted before and never felt more comfortable in a such a personal gym setting. Loveeeeee!!! Ps I’m going to have abs soon.

Fantastic experience: I had a hard time breaking out of my usual workout and diet habits whenever I would try to improve them by myself. So I decided to seek assistance through Steve at Archetype Strength. 6 weeks later I can say that it was one of the best decisions I have made for my fitness and overall health. Steve and the other trainers not only motivated me, but pushed me to do things that I never tried or thought of. They helped me with my form, movements, etc in all my lifts which in turn helped me progress much quicker and safer than I would have on my own. After seeing this progress and growth I couldn't help but sign up for more training and I am excited to see what the future holds with Archetype Strength!

Anshul Dantre 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: Archetype Strength is arguably one of the most interesting gyms that I have ever been to. Unlike other gyms with lots of public exercise equipment, this one has challenging classes, great instructors and NO BS whatsoever. I wasn't sure if I'd like the layout of the gym at first, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that I was actually getting better workouts here than I previously was under the supervision from my instructor down at LA fitness in Houston (I moved to Cary Sep 17). All the coaches I worked with (Thad, Jim, John, Courtney) are very knowledgeable and off course the man Steve Olson himself. He is the owner and knows the business very well as he has done this for more than a decade now. I joined as a part of the 6 weeks challenge during Mid March 18 and since then there is no looking back. The challenge is over but the motivation I get keeps me going. Steve helped us with simple meal plans and rest of the instructors helped in getting our exercising basics right. The fee may seem higher at first but the consistent coaching and the diet plan are a plus and outweighs the overall cost. And results are your direct proof. What I like about the classes here is that they are all full-body workouts, and they really do kick your ass if you're willing to put in the work. Overall I will sum it as Great workout atmosphere (The gains, coaches and environment keeps you motivated) Excellent coaching (Every class every time) Simple and easy to follow diet plans (even for vegeterians like me :) Flexible schedule (No over crowding as you schedule your class in advance and its limited no of people at a time)

Fantastic experience: This place was exactly what I needed. I finished the 6 week challenge losing 23 lbs total. I decided to keep going because I now enjoy how working out makes me feel. Steve is great and is also able to modify workouts on the fly for individuals who may have specific issues such as knee problems, back problems, etc...

Rochelle Frazier 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going here since March and it has been a great transformation!!! I’m loving the weight lost and the way my clothes fit. I would recommend this gym to anyone who wants to put in hard work to get good results fast !!!

Camille Walker 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: The gym is really effective, I did the 6 week challenge and lost inches everywhere, clothes fit so much better and the side benefit of being much stronger is not bad either. It builds stamina in a non-boring way. No lengthy runs or treadmill/elliptical workouts. You are constantly moving, the hour flies by after you've been there a couple of weeks. Between that and eliminating all the processed foods you'll feel great and look even better. For me, the weight training thing was a bit intimidating at first since my gym time usually meant cardio before this, but it's addicting! My favorite exercises became dead lifts and bench press. Who knew? So glad to have given this a try, I'm very happy with my results.

Carrie Wooldridge 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: I trained with Archetype Strength during one of their six week challenges. And I loved every minute! Steve Olson, the owner, provided an easy to follow meal plan and weight training classes at the gym. Classes are scheduled daily Monday - Saturday, with morning, afternoon and evening options available. Steve and the Archetype trainers are knowledgeable and motivational! They are quick to modify workouts to accommodate an injury or limitation due to weakness or otherwise. The gym is clean and stocked with top of the line equipment from rowers, treadmills and bikes to weights, benches, racks and ropes. Every workout is different and I left each session feeling accomplished and stronger! Archetype Strength is the gym for anyone who wants personalized workouts, motivational and knowledgeable fitness professionals and RESULTS.

Rebecca Purvis 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: I joined the 6 week challenge at the beginning of the year when the gym was just opened. The amount of support is amazing and the gym equipment continued to increase. Everyday was a different workout and I definitely can see results. I do encourage those that are doing the challenge to read all of the details to meet your goals successfully according to the contract. Either way, Steve does bargain a good deal to continue to be a member of the gym after the challenge.

Elisabeth Jean 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: I let an accident encourage me to stop working out... then I met Steve Olson and went to his gym and he was just the positive spark I needed to be encouraged to pump myself up and not stop! I gained an amazing, positive and forward-thinking group of individuals with one main idea in common, we want a healthy lifestyle! I received a simple nutrition plan to follow and from sticking to it, working out at least three days a week and focusing on the why, I was able to lose 6 pounds of fat in 6 weeks and I feel strong everyday. I have decided to continue my membership through Steve’s classes and am so in love with the group setting. I really needed that gym family to help keep me focused and true to myself. If you want to make a change towards a healthy lifestyle, come on in and let’s get you measured up and build the lifting foundation so you have the best results! See you soon!! ️‍♀️

Fantastic experience: Archetype strength has been my home gym for about 4 weeks now! I am honestly so impressed with how much my body has changed. I’ve lost 10 pounds and have started toning very nicely! The trainers are fun and super helpful with all of the techniques. They will push you and motivate you! If you’re looking to change your body, Archetype Strength is EXACTLY where you need to be! There’s even an easy meal plan to follow to help you achieve your best results!

Fantastic experience: This is an awesome place to lose weight and get fit . I tried many places to loose weight and was struggling with my weightloss. After finishing the six week challenge I have lost the weight I wanted to lose and could get fit . I will highly recommend this place for anyone who are looking for loosing weight and get in shape. I thank instructors Steve and James who helped me with my weight loss and they corrected me at each step during workouts when ever I was doing incorrectly and participated in my success.

Brittany Miles 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: Completed the 6 week weight loss challenge and lost 15lbs! The classes are structured in a similar way every week/ day so you know what to anticipate and expect when signing up. They also just added another class focused on HIIT. The instructors help you to concentrate on your form and make sure you understand how to complete the exercise and get results. The workouts are consistent and concentrate a lot on bench, squat, and deadlift so you establish good form and can monitor your progress/ strength increase through the exercise. It helps to get the moves and the form down to have that repetition of moves. The instructors push you to increase your weight and get to know you as an individual and will help to adapt as needed. There are days focused on finding your max weight for the exercises stated above and the instructors work to support you with that. The environment is really focused on helping you get through the workout and push yourself to get stronger. They focus a lot on keeping you as a member after the challenge and have several social 'parties' they plan to interact with members on a more personal level. Overall I had a good experience, I lost the weight I set the goal for and got good instruction on form for a lot of exercises!

Fantastic experience: I came to archetype strength and conditioning when Steve, the owner, I just opened in January. He was offering a 6 week challenge and this appealed to me because I was looking to challenge myself even further in my weight-loss Journey. What makes this place so great is that it is a No Excuses Gym. You are getting the best education on how to change your lifestyle and your lifting habits in the gym. You get the feel of having a personal trainer every week but in a smaller group setting. I love the sense of community and it's nice to go somewhere every week where people constantly see and remind you of the gains you're making. It is a wonderful place to call my home gym. Oh yeah and I kicked ass and took names in the challenge. I lost 24 pounds in 6 weeks. If you want to change your body and your lifestyle this is the place for you.
