Our House Gym- Team Dumdumaya

Fantastic experience: Having two kids in the gym, I cannot stress enough how much this place has positively impacted their lives. Not only are they learning the art of Jiu-Jitsu, but they are also developing valuable life skills such as discipline, hard work, and self-defense techniques. It's truly incredible to witness their growth and progress, both physically and mentally.

Negative experience: I've been around martial arts gyms since I was 7 years old (now 43). First studying karate, then moving on to Muay Thai and some BJJ. My son has been studying BJJ and Muay Thai, since he was 7 and now he's 14. Covid forced him to take a break, but now he's looking to return to training. My family went to this gym, to check it out since it's a little closer to our home. Never in all my years of training in martial arts and being around martial artist, ESPECIALLY a BLACK BELT! Never have I experienced the LACK OF RESPECT AND PROFESSIONALISM that we experienced at this "gym". We walked up while the kids class was being "taught", we stood next to the rest of the parents but obviously we are NEW faces. After the class was over the "instructor" just disappeared! Never acknowledging us before doing so, leaving us feeling like our business was not wanted! After 3-5 minutes this "instructor" comes from the back of this "gym", he again ignores us and starts talking to another "instructor" they both ignored us. Finally after a few minutes the same "instructor" waves us over like an annoyed DMV clerk to what we want?! He says "can I help you?", not "hi my name is _____", to this day I still have no idea who we spoke to and what his role actually is! "I tell him I want to sign my son up for some classes." He ask my son how old he is and then says "come back tomorrow". That's it?! He didn't give us a time, who to ask for, no details jus show up tomorrow?! And to think this "teacher" is a black belt! Not to mention it was VERY clear he was VERY HIGH! We tried to ask him a few questions but it was clear he had no intention on helping us or was too high to be able to so. I thank him for his time and walked away. He then yells with an attitude, "I AM TRYING TO HELP YOU!" Who does that unless you know you messed up! Needless to say we just left because that's not an environment I want my son in and there were A LOT of red flags! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN TO THIS PLACE! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!

Fantastic experience: If you are young or older like myself and want to learn BJJ, this is the place to do it! From the owners to the students, everyone is there to help each other progress at there own pace. If you want to train with partners that compete regularly in MMA, wrestling or BJJ, or simply want to get in shape while learning self defense, Team Dumdumaya is exactly the place to be. Great team atmosphere, much like an extended family. Quiet, respectful and humble, and if anyone says anything else they simply haven’t trained there!

Fantastic experience: Found this gem in 2015. Fell in love and moved right in. Became family. I was a Jiu Jitsu nomad before- training everywhere and nowhere. Now I’m proud to say Team Dumdumaya is my home. I’ve been training almost 20 years and never have I ever experienced a gym like this. Laid back, family oriented. My youngest started training here at 4 years old. My kids are 9 and 14 now. My whole family trains. When I got married my husband also joined the team and became a valued instructor. Head coach Andre Dumdumaya is a no nonsense master who grinds humility, respect, and character into our kids and minds. His black belt instructors are patient and technical to a high level. Everyone here is family. And this place build warriors from kids to seniors. If you’re not into family, loyalty, and being a savage beast, this place ain’t for you. Everyone is welcome, but not everyone will stay. This place weeds out the real from the fake, even from day one, and keeps the real ones coming back.

Fantastic experience: Ive been attending this gym for about 5 years now and there is no place I’d rather go. Everyone is like family and all the instructors are talented knowledgable and humble. I urge anyone who is on the fence to join now! Come to Our House and bring a humble respectful attitude with you and watch what this sport and this family can do for your life.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic place to train - super low pressure, family-friendly, and outstanding jiu jitsu. Very competition-oriented vs self-defense-oriented like some other schools in the area. I moved out of the Bay Area last year and I keep trying to find a gym out here in AZ that offers a similar experience to this gym. Unfortunately for me, I've concluded it's one of a kind so if you want my advice, stop shopping and go join today.

Fantastic experience: I want to say to those that come by here after looking at other gyms, what you and your kids will find here will not be easily seen or recognized in a first impression. What makes this place so special above the rest is the connection, the vibe, the family feeling that connects everyone. You have folks from many different religious backgrounds, law enforcement, medical, tech, law…etc. that connect not just on the mats but off the mats at family bbq get togethers that happen on a regular basis. You see and spend soo much quality with professors/instructors and their families! Yes you learn top notch old school tough jitsu to defend yourself but what keeps you there just isn’t able to be found in your first visit. Give it a month and show up. That’s when you really start to see the value. I’m a transplant from another great jitsu background gym. It looked different but the vibe was bland, everyone looked the same, had matching gi’s and you rarely rolled or saw the owner/head professor. Not the case here. Amazing place for both kids and adults. This is where boys are made into men and young ladies are formed into warriors that you don’t want to mess with. All while still keeping their sweet natures and close ties to family. The price is more affordable than other gyms and I think you get more for the value from truly how unique this gym is. I travel for work and train in many different areas and feel blessed to have team dumdamaya in my jitsu world. My son and I love this family, Love this gym!

Fantastic experience: Great family environment but most importantly a great coach and helpers they are very respectful and really try and work with all of the kids!

Fantastic experience: One of the best Dojos in town! Don't judge a book by it's cover and this is the case with this Dojo. The Coach is very straight forward with the conditioning and training and the kids love it here. I almost forgot they also have adult classes and kickboxing lessons.
