TITLE Boxing Club Ann Arbor: Opinions

Fantastic experience: Title Boxing staff bring that rare ability to keep up your level of motivation to show up, provide expert training, and make you want to immerse in the community. Incredible place.
Negative experience: They will cancel classes and not respond. No refunds
Fantastic experience: Great workout, great atmosphere, great people. A great way to stay active and stay stress free.
Fantastic experience: First of all, there is not a better overall workout than boxing. Every single muscle group is involved from the 7 minute warmup, the eight rounds of boxing, and the 7 minutes of core followed by stretching. It's not uncommon for me to burn 700 calories or more in a 45 minute session. Title Boxing Club, Ann Arbor also has a great owner, Dave Lewan, who cares about the culture of the club and cares about member engagement. TBA2 has great trainers and staff who connect with each member to help with their form and to make sure everyone gets the most out of each workout. Each workout is truly unique. The music sets constantly change. No single warmup is ever the same. No core session is ever the same. No single round is ever the same. Punch combinations are constantly varied during each round. During each round, you have to be present and think as combinations are called out. Thinking about and executing punch combinations during high intensity cardio has been proven to enhance cognitive ability which is really important for older members like myself. The classes are also usually close to full during primetime hours which adds to the overall energy of each class. No offense to other "standard gym workouts" because any exercise program is beneficial. However, simply lifting weights, running on a treadmill or climbing a stair master for 30 minutes, is well, shall I say, pretty boring compared to a high intensity boxing workout! It's probably why some people ditch their workout routines shortly after their New Year's resolution, because it feels like a "routine". Its the same old, same old workout every time. There is simply no comparison! My wife and my adult daughter both really enjoy Title Boxing club so we love it when we can take a class together. I've been a member for many years. I lost over 20 pounds shortly after joining Title and have maintained a much healthier weight range ever since. I quit my other gym soon after joining Title. God willing and as long as my health and my body hold up, I plan to keep on boxing. Keep up the great work TBA2!
Fantastic experience: Clean and great training
Fantastic experience: I have been going to this gym for about 6 months now and have found it to be extremely rewarding. The classes involve punching heavy bags, not punching people. There is typically a wide variety of people in the classes with respect to age, level of experience, and level of fitness. The instructors direct the workout, but encourage participants to modify or change the exercises to suit their own needs, for example, to accommodate injuries or other limitations. The instructors are energetic and positive. The workouts consist of 7 or 8 minutes of warmup, which is usually mostly leg exercises (jumping jacks, squats, lunges), then 8 three minute rounds of boxing, with 1 minute between rounds; the 1st 30 seconds of the 1 minute interval is “active recovery”, so some form of exercise, usually legs. The boxing rounds are composed of sequences of specific types of punches; the instructor calls out the sequence of punches. The boxing rounds are followed by 7 or 8 minutes of core exercises. The sessions are strenuous, but very fast paced; each exercise is typically no more than 30 seconds in duration. The fast pace makes the difficulty of the workouts much more tolerable. I have found this to be a vigorous, thorough workout. It has dramatically improved my level of fitness, and provided other benefits as well. For example, I have chronic neck and back pain from working hours every day at a computer, and this discomfort has almost completely resolved after starting boxing classes. I am stronger and I feel better. I would highly recommend this gym for anyone who thinks they might be interested in this sort of workout.
Fantastic experience: Great trainers, who are very welcoming and supportive to all members. Most of them are very experienced and mix their classes with routines with simple moves as well as advanced moves. They are quite good at motivating during classes and encourage to give your best. Facilities are good too. The equipments are well maintained. Restrooms and shower are always kept clean. Flexibility to choose any class from early morning to noon to evening is quite helpful and helps to catch up another class if the one I planned for gets missed for some reason. Location is good too. Not too far from anywhere in Ann Arbor. In past few years at times I have seen a few trainers leaving within short period of time. That could be due to Ann Arbor being college town, some trainers could be studying or working with UM and might choose to move to different state to pursue further studies or work. That's my guess.
Positive experience: It’s a good way to get me moving through my Parkinson’s issues..
Fantastic experience: High energy team that really cares.
Negative experience: Like many people I enjoy the classes but their awful when it comes time to cancel. I’m now in my 3rd month of having to call and cancel with charges still pending. They seem to be gaining a reputation for this.
Fantastic experience: I can't speak highly enough about this place. Fantastic trainers, great facilities, great work outs. Coaching staff are fantastic. Boxing is a great work out. I recommend everyone try it and this is a great place to do that!
Fantastic experience: Great experience with the staff and trainers here. Also, a great workout that happens to be a lot of fun. Strongly recommend trying once -- first class is free.
Fantastic experience: Love it here! Great trainers and great classes. Only wish parking was a bit easier.
Fantastic experience: One of the best workouts ever. The trainers really know how to teach you to box. And push you beyond your comfort zone. I used to workout at Liberty, but the workout I get at Title is much more beneficial and it's fun to box. This club is nice. Instructors great. People who take the classes are cool. Mix of UM students and professionals. Format is 15 minute warmup, then 8 three minute rounds with one minute of active rest in between, followed by 15 minutes of core work. It's not easy. But if you want to get in shape, Title Boxing can help.
Negative experience: They took $15 off my cc without a reason. I explained clearly I don’t have a set schedule they even have it in the notes but charged me 15 dollars anyway. Another $79 as a requiring fee I tried calling a few times without an answer and leaving a message on their voicemail without anyone returning a call. Besides taking your money anyone working there is worthless about solving problems. How are they training people for being a better version of themselves when they rob credit cards?? Owner was suppose to contact me… never did.
Negative experience: Unfortunately I have to leave a 1 star review for this location. I signed up in January and there were several time slots available to get a workout in. Since January 3 trainers have left and there are only 2-3 class options per day. I was told end of March that they were hiring 2 new trainers and there would be more time slots available. It is now middle of May and there is no open gym time and no additional class times. Keep in mind that I work 6am-3pm. So the 4:30 class that is no longer available was the only time I could do. I reached out to management multiple times and I was told I could freeze my account for $19 each month. I’m not doing that and I feel that is poor management. I again reached out and asked for a refund for the month of May since leadership confirmed there will be no 4:30 classes until possibly June. I was told I cannot get a refund and no other option has been provided. I am so disappointed.
Fantastic experience: I have green belt in Karate and thought I will be able to manage 45 min of boxing easily, but it's not easy, it's high energy and really push you to feel the level of your fitness. I finished first month with 1 session a week and I liked it. I want to build the stamina to finish 45 min of boxing and then will try kickboxing. The staff here are wonderful, cooperative and explain it well. I like flexible timing, to schedule based on my availability. Boxing is improving my performance in Karate so it's a win win.
Fantastic experience: I cannot say one negative thing about TITLE Boxing Ann Arbor. The workouts are challenging and the trainers are fantastic! I have been a member for a few years and compared to other gyms where I had memberships... Hands-down TITLE is the best! Devin, Reggie, Kady, Javi and Ace (in no particular order)are my personal favorite trainers... I always walk away feeling I've had a total body workout, and the trainers are so motivating and encouraging! I love this place and "the early morning crew!"
Fantastic experience: The environment is great for workouts, and I always feel motivated to push myself for the full 45 minutes. I get a much better workout here than I would at any gym. Since the lifting of the mask mandate, I have decided to upgrade my 4-star review to a 5-star.
Fantastic experience: Ahmad is hands down the BEST trainer at Title A2. You'll leave his class getting the best workout ever. He's really intense and passionate which inspires everyone in the class to throw harder punches. He verbally motivates everyone making sure folks go the extra mile. His music choice is great - transitions between music with appropriate punches is flawless. Definitely come take a class with him, you won't regret it!
Fantastic experience: Awesome gym in AA to relax and burst calories. The management offers discounted packages for students which is impressive and I recommend to start learning boxing at this location.
Fantastic experience: Great workout - both from cardio and core perspective. Also appreciate the contagious high energy from the Trainers during class.
Fantastic experience: Fast paced, fun, great staff! Enough coaching to push yourself with the flexibility to adjust based on individual needs!
Fantastic experience: Fun, fast paced, great staff, and a killer workout! Prepare to sweat a lot but feel great at the same time.
Fantastic experience: Fun and challenging workouts! And working out here doesn't feel competitive. They let you go at your own pace and it feels good to focus on making sure *I'm* improving.
Fantastic experience: Empowering, fun workout in a supportive environment!
Fantastic experience: Great class!
Fantastic experience: I've only been going to Title Ann Arbor for a few weeks, but I cannot recommend it highly enough. It has been a wonderful experience, and I am excited to keep going. I had zero experience with boxing or anything like it, and every instructor has been so patient and encouraging. Great vibe at the entire studio. Whether it's focus is on kickboxing or boxing, it is a full-body workout with great warm-ups and a serious core workout to finish the class. They offer a lot of options and it is very non-judgmental. The club does a spectacular job of meeting each attendee where they're at. I feel like I have improved every class. Aaron, Bryan, Juice, and everyone is fantastic.
Fantastic experience: After going to a health club style of gym for four years I am very happy that I switched to Title. Trainers and staff are excellent and incredibly helpful. Very friendly atmosphere which is a huge bonus, have been to other gyms that have a clique-ish vibe and that isn’t the case here. As for the workout, you can go at your own pace and not feel like you’re being judged but the atmosphere lends to you wanting to push yourself. It’s a whole body workout and you feel like a badass afterwards.
Fantastic experience: My first class was in Nov 2018. It felt great but I realized I had no idea what I was doing. I purchased 3 30 min private training lessons just to learn the basics, then see about classes. Six months later, I am still doing private workouts. The workouts are the best for many reasons. First, the exercise feels great, it's the kind of workout you hate but love even more. Im learning more each time which keeps it interesting and fun. My trainer is awesome, he encourages and challenges me each workout. He makes it fun, like it's not exercise, but rather a new skill and who wouldn't want to learn to box!? Last, but not least, the team at Title - they are all so nice and welcoming. They remember my name, say hi to me when I come in like Im a friend, and I feel so at ease at this gym. While the classes are a good way to go, I fully recommend private workouts. Deven (or any trainer there) is amazing! If you are looking for a new workout, to have some fun, to learn a new skill, and take some time for yourself, I would highly recommend checking out Title on Stadium.
Fantastic experience: Create clean environment, instructors are knowledgeable, workouts alternate, fun gym all around and music is usually great!
Fantastic experience: I love the intensity of the classes and energy that the trainers bring to the workout. It's a great place to come burn off energy and get in shape!
Fantastic experience: What I love about a Title workout is that I always feel challenged in the moment and inspired to make the next workout even better. The coaches are supportive, always willing to field questions and their passion for fitness is contagious.
Fantastic experience: During my first class, I was dying but it felt so good! Lauren is super energetic and the workout was very dynamic!
Fantastic experience: I really like the high energy in the room, and the instruction from the teachers. Everyone was really friendly and helpful.
Fantastic experience: Great work out for young and old alike. High energy with lots of positive reinforcement. Skilled trainers - big fun.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic organization, competent and engaged instructors, awesome layout. Couldn't recommend them highly enough.
Fantastic experience: I usually do barre workouts and wasn't sure what to expect but I was happy to find Title's classes offer the same encouragement as the group fitness classes I love while kicking up the cardio. You are still in control of your workout- you pick your spot (there are tons of bags, maybe 30?) then its just you, gloves, and the bag with the instructor on a microphone, demonstrating, and offering helpful suggestions. I haven't tried a 75 min class, but the 60 min class flew by: pretty long warm-up, 8 'boxing rounds' then core work left me feeling exhausted but energized.
Fantastic experience: I love how engaging the instructor Shamone was. He really took time to make sure everyone in the class was able to keep up with the routine. I have told all my friends and coworkers about Title!
Fantastic experience: I like when the trainers are personable and push me in class, it helps me get motivated. I also love the ladies (and Juice) at the front desk! Everyone is great. I'm a very busy mom of 2 sports players so my spare time is valuable to me, and I enjoy getting to spend that time here.
Fantastic experience: This is an intense workout that pushes you and is completely addicting! The trainers won’t let you give up!
Negative experience: Loved the gym but needed to cancel because of my busy schedule. Unfortunately the gym continued to withdraw from my account for months despite many calls to various managers. The entire ordeal took months to get resolved and I still didn’t get back anywhere near what I was overcharged. It was definitely a nightmare of an experience. Now I’d like to go back bc I loved the workout but I’m terrified of what effect the poor business ethic & customer service might have on my account.
Fantastic experience: 1) It's a full-body workout 2) Every class is different 3) Even if you only have 30 minutes, you get a workout just as good as 75 minutes 4) No prior experience needed! Just follow the trainers 5) The trainers are knowledgeable, encouraging, and make sure you get the most out of your workout!
Fantastic experience: Workouts are always challenging no matter skill level. Variety of classes offered along with open gym. Fun culture and community with friendly staff. Clean environment and facilities.
Fantastic experience: Got a Groupon back in 2013 when I was in USA on business, when I moved here permanently in 2014 I joined up and have been a member since. The workouts are great, trainers are mostly excellent (I miss some of the old trainers) the classes are motivating and energetic. They are good for all levels as you can set your own level of exertion, there's a very wide range of abilities and ages, and an even split of gender. Everyone will SWEAT. #HardWorkPaysOff Hour classes are 15 minutes of general cardio warm up, 8 x 3 minute HIIT boxing rounds, and then 15 minutes of core. There's also a few machines and plenty of free weights to use, and they offer personal training which I would love to afford to make use of, it looks great. Expensive (but what gym classes aren't?!) and if you are motivated to actually go, then it's not bad value.
Fantastic experience: Title B is my stress relief heaven, visits here always get everything off my chest. Go right in, get my blood flowing, heart pumping and just unload on some bags.
Fantastic experience: It was nice feeling like anyone of any level of experience could feel comfortable joining in on a workout. The instructors are great at taking the time before or after a class to walk through any specific questions you have. They will also repeat combo instructions near you when they know you're newer so that you can watch more closely. I'm loving it!
Fantastic experience: The workout itself is great -- I always leave covered in sweat and feeling energized. But, that's something you could get at any club. What makes this special is you are learning boxing and kickboxing technique at the same time. I always thought it would be cool to box, but never dreamed I'd get the chance. Now, as an older guy, I'll probably never be able to try my skills in the ring, but I feel pretty good about my chances of defending myself if a punk accosts me in the street.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely love the club. It’s a great studio that offers more than just boxing! I always look forward to my visit and being greeted by the friendly staff!
Fantastic experience: My favorite thing about Title is the special brand of motivation the trainers give. It's competitive and driving, but also approachable, friendly and supportive. All the Trainers at TBCA2 know when to push you just that little extra bit to improve your workout, and when to call out suggestions to modify exercises if you've hit your limit. The goal is always the completion of YOUR very own best class. We all walk out of TBC knowing we are champions!
Fantastic experience: Great trainers, intense workout, cheerful atmosphere
Fantastic experience: I feel empowered and comfortable as I work my body to exhaustion. Thank you to the people at title for making me feel like I’m apart of something great.
Fantastic experience: It's a great way to start my day!
Positive experience: Nice studio second Saturday’s Argentine Tango . Community Milonga 10pm Very good level of dance!
Fantastic experience: I've been a member since 2015. The workout is an overall mind and body life changing challenge. The staff is friendly, fun, and have been helpful in motivating me achieve my personal goal in a welcoming atmosphere.
Fantastic experience: Awesome workout, kept me moving and active for an hour. Had my abs and shoulders burning at the end.
Fantastic experience: Tonight was my first PT session with Mark and he's just phenomenal at what he does! Hours later, my body feels like I went to a spa. As far as the classes...every trainer pushes me and you think you're the only one in the gym (that's how personal this place is).
Fantastic experience: TITLE BOXING IS SOOO AWESOME, COME GET STRONGER AND WORK ON YOUR GOALS!!!
Fantastic experience: The workout was high intensity and high energy, exactly what I was looking for. The instructor was amazing and the front desk personnel were friendly and helpful
Fantastic experience: Fantastic workout. First time boxing but had a great time. Mark was high energy and motivating for everyone. Great energy/music. Kicked my ass. Can't wait to go back.
Fantastic experience: Recently joined this gym. The energy from all the staff and trainers is better than any gym Ive ever been too. The place is great, and the workouts are awesome. They will push you ro your personal best every single day, and you will enjoy every second. I consider myself "self motivated" for the most part, but the trainers at your gym make me work even harder than I could ever do on my own, and they make it fun. Even when a class is full of 60 or more people, they still find a way to give personal attention and motivation to everyone. Its not just a good hard workout, but its a lot of fun too!
Fantastic experience: Awesome calorie burn and not intimidating workout or environment!
Fantastic experience: These workouts are great! The classes are challenging but very doable with trainers that are encouraging and always ready to help if needed. In addition, whenever I've done a one on one session with a trainer they are careful to evaluate what needs to be strengthened and to offer instruction on using equipment. They give you a plan to improve your workout and will assist in setting new goals. After years of trying different gyms and plans..... Title Boxing is the best workout I have every done !!
Fantastic experience: Greatest staff! I always feel empowered walking out of class, I even loved it so much I'm now doing hours training sessions
Fantastic experience: Really fun structure. Great motivating and positive instructor. Killer workout. LOVE the set-up of everyone having their own bag!
Fantastic experience: The trainers are great and the workouts are fantastic. Best cardio that I've ever done.
Fantastic experience: It was a really good workout - it really worked my arms in a new way and it was high intensity without a lot of legs, which I find is hard to do. I burned a lot of calories and I felt like it went by quite quickly!
Fantastic experience: I love this gym and the class I took while visiting Ann Arbor. The facility is the coolest one I've seen so far. And the staff is awesome!
Fantastic experience: Awesome calorie burn and not intimidating workout or environment!
Negative experience: The classes are great and the instructors know what they are talking about but it is a money scam. I was not told that i needed to cancel a month in advance so now i have to pay the $140 membership fee on top of buying a new house and my car breaking down. I can't afford the membership but they didn't seem to care. On top of it there is no extra help included in the member ship. For a one on one sessions it is anywhere from $40-75, the only thing included n you membership is the unlimited access to the heavy bags. Not worth the money.
