Spartanburg Athletic Club

Fantastic experience: I have been going to this club for over a year and I use the workout equipment primarily and a few times have been to the outdoor pool. The equipment is exactly what I need to rotate my workouts and everyone (patrons and staff) are very friendly. The outdoor pool is beautiful. Unlike other clubs with longer hours, this club is a bit limited but it has never interfered with my schedule and works perfect for my workday. I also love that this is a local gym rather than a chain so I can support the community. I give this gym 5 stars!

Fantastic experience: I've been going to this club for over 20 years. The people in management there are top-notch. It might be a little older facility but it's well run and I am grateful for them.

Negative experience: They don't pick up their trash, they have no care or considerations for people who work odd hours. Their members cuss and swear loudly and openly and you cant call them because their mailbox is full.

Positive experience: Everything is perfect but one of the staff her name is amber she is so mean person doesn’t smile at all

Fantastic experience: Affordable and very friendly place. Really great club with so many options: the gym (has lots of machines, weights, etc.), exercise classes (with absolutely amazing, kind and talented instructors), tennis courts, pickle ball, indoor and outdoor pool! So thankful for the club and everyone there!

Negative experience: Never been here because they’re way too expensive, but I tried several times to get in touch with swim instructors in the past couple months by email. Contacted both today, one had no voicemail just a dead sound at the end of the ringing, and the other rudely sent a text saying “Sorry I can’t talk right now” my first time ever calling the number, immediately cut me off after one ring! Found a swim instructor at the Y after that ! One star for that experience, one more star only because I have not been to the gym before.

Negative experience: In our close to one year of membership since moving to Spartanburg, we have been disappointed with how this facility is run. It seems to be more of a social club and hobby rather than a well run business. We have reached out on multiple occasions with questions or concerns and not once have we gotten a response. I have personally called and left a message with the “manager” as I was told to do and never received a call back. My husband has emailed with concerns about classes advertised as one thing and then being randomly switched by the instructor to a different class. He has waited twenty minutes outside when the facility is supposed to be open for someone to arrive to open. Alarms in the pool have been ignored by staff. I am not sure if the owners/managers actually care to address any concerns. We have reached out in multiple ways before finally posting this review. We are currently researching other options for our family to try to avoid renewing for a second year. We have realized how lucky we were with the two facilities we joined in Virginia because unlike Spartanburg Athletic, they were well run businesses that cared about and responded to members to make improvements as needed.

Fantastic experience: Nice sport club. I moved from NY to SC 1.5 years ago. After NY, this sport club seems to be an amazing place. And Their classes make my life less boring .

Negative experience: Over price Club members think they owe this place and will run u over if u are not care full. Out n the parking lot. There is one person that leaves her dogs n the hot truck and leaves the window down but they jump out and are and run after people. Be careful

Fantastic experience: This is NOT your $2/month gym! Everyone gets to know everyone, the childcare is awesome, the classes are great, and the owners are A+! If you're looking for a great place to work out without the nuances, SAC is the gym you want!

Fantastic experience: This gym is my home away from home. I joined in August 2018 and have gone almost every day since. The new managers, Josh and Jamie Miller, made me feel welcome and comfortable from the beginning. All the the instructors and trainers are wonderful. There are tons of group fitness classes (Ride, Blast, Centergy, Active, Barre, Power, Fight, Core, R30, Energize) plus free weights and machines, yoga, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, AND childcare. Additionally, I opted in to a morning Zone workout (functional fitness class similar to CrossFit) and absolutely love it and the results. I’m stronger, fitter, and leaner than I was 4 months ago. Oh, and the facility is almost completely remodeled! It is my favorite place to be and the kids love it too.

Fantastic experience: I recently joined the Spartanburg Athletic Club and it is a great facility. The outdoor pool is very well maintained and relatively quiet. All of the amenities are top notch and the staff is always very helpful. I’ll definitely be recommending the Spartanburg Athletic Club to friends and family!

Positive experience: My daughter attended swim lessons they're under Miss Colleen. She does a great job of getting the kids swimming, more than any swim instructor we've used before. The facility is nice, with ample accommodations. They have been undergoing some renovations to Spruce up the facility. The staff were friendly. The participants active. If you're considering a fitness club it will be a good option

Positive experience: Outdoor and indoor pools. Four tennis courts composed of clay. Five or six cement courts. A lot of cardio equipment. Very "get the member involved" attitude.
