Crunch Fitness - Oakland Park: Opinions

Negative experience: Been coming to this gym for 10 years. Used to be excellent, but now run down and broken equipment. Ppl sit on equipment and look at phones way too long. So over crowded. They need more equipment …2 of everything. Very very disappointed!!!! I would not recommend this gym anymore
Fantastic experience: The staff here are amazing! Yeah it's small for a crunch and sometimes it's packed but I have no other complaints. Crunch on a corporate level may be a little questionable, but this physical location is the best! Don't listen to all the boo hoo haters that can't handle a little paint chip on a machine or want the floor so clean you can eat off of it. This is a gym! Come here, lift heavy and go on with your life. It's that simple!
Negative experience: If you’re looking for a week pass or even paying for a month , $29 i not the price. THEY LIE TO YOU . And when you arrive you have to pay around $80 that never show on the website . And they say you have to pay for the first 3 months but it is not on the website too.
Fantastic experience: As a serious weight lifter I can tell you this gym is superior to others in the area that have waaaay less equipment and exponetialy more clientele.I'd go 8.75 /10. Reasonably priced and the most equipment around. This location has 2 to 3 of sets of each dumbell and multiple benches and lift stations. For the price this is hands down the best gym I have found in the area (and I diligently looked and toured each local). Still can get crowded around peek hours and some of the clientele isn't there to work out, talking on phones, socializing or beching with 5 lb plates on the end holding up equipment for no reason while achieving nothing. Thats a people issue though not the gym. Cleanliness is middle of the road, people typically don't clean up after themselves (50/50) on equipment so clean before you use, bring a towel .
Negative experience: For the most part I like this location, its another local CRUNCH that I utilize once a week or so. . In reading the lowest reviews, yet again its the same sad story.. Horrible experiences with membership cancellations, with gym Management & ownership... They simply Do NOT care about members. The front desk has its good days & bad days. No matter what, you all should greet your members with a hello, a welcome or a smile. Its so simple.
Negative experience: Gym hours are labeled as 8 pm closure online however the gym closes at 7 pm. Staff honestly sucks and are very unfriendly
Negative experience: We attempted to cancel but they wouldn’t provide a clear way to do that. Now they have a credit agency calling and the only way to get the information or to cancel is BY MAIL. THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE SCAM! It is not about the money for us.. what a ridiculous way to treat your customers!
Fantastic experience: When my husband and I recently moved to Florida full time, we wanted to find a gym not too different from the one we were leaving behind in Virginia. We tried Crunch Fitness in Oakland Park and knew that it would be a great gym to join. And so we did. For the past several months, we've each been training three days a week with an amazing personal trainer at Crunch named Lorenzo Cabrera. Lorenzo understands that someone our age (I just turned 65) doesn't necessarily have the same goals or motivation for working out compared to others half our age. He personally customizes each of the training sessions to maximize their benefit while also minimizing any risk of injury. We highly recommend Lorenzo Cabrera and Crunch Gym in Oakland Park!
Fantastic experience: Lorenzo is such a great trainer. I have been training with him for almost two years. I’ve never felt stronger. He pushes me and keeps me safe.
Fantastic experience: I started back to Crunch Fitness Oakland Park in December after they reached out to me for a free session. I ended up hiring a personal trainer to get back into shape. Currently I'm paired with this awesome little Daddy Smurf (or is it Sassy Smurf?) named Lorenzo. I've had 3 different trainers and he's the toughest and most intense. I'm not a quitter, but on Day 1 with him I was seriously considering walking out because I thought this guy is trying to kill me or run me off. I managed to turn it into a positive and decided I could take whatever he dished out and stuck with it. I'm glad I did. If you're truly serious about getting into shape, ask for him. Says he's been doing it for 25 years. He will push you to your limits, you won't regret it and the results will come quick.
Fantastic experience: Crunch is a good, affordable gym close to people living in Wilton Manors. Where Crunch shines is the staff and trainers. I've been working out with Lorenzo for almost a year, and his guidance has significantly propelled me toward achieving my fitness goals. Lorenzo's expertise, positivity, and motivation make every workout session productive and enjoyable. Highly recommended!
Fantastic experience: I worked with my trainer Freddy for almost a year and I am down almost 50 pounds. I am the same size that I was in high school and I’m a woman in my mid 30s. I’m really grateful for all the help because I could not have done it on my own. All the other trainers who are not even assigned to me we’re always so kind and always giving me encouragement even when I came in the gym on my own.
Positive experience: This is a super popular gym to work out in. Tons of treadmills. The circuit equipment is extensive. There are free weights and benches galore. There is comfortable space between all of the machines. There is a downside. A lot of the equipment is in disrepair, and a lot of the machines are out of order, awaiting repairs or replacement. The locker rooms are gruesome. So this is not a pleasant place if you need to shower and get dressed after a workout.
Fantastic experience: When my old gym shut down in the middle of the night, our memberships were transferred to Crunch. At first I was not happy with the change. However, I was and remain impressed with the staff. The front desk employees are always friendly and go out of their way to help with any issue. In addition, I decided to change things up and utilize their training services. While the rates are competitive and fair, I am seeing results I never anticipated. I am impress with Lorenzo, my trainer. Serious, professional, reliable and fun. I’ve been working out my whole life, but learning so much more. I am happy with my investment in training, great return. Give him a try, you will very happy.
Fantastic experience: Good size gym with plenty of equipment for all I want to do. I have worked with two trainers at this location. And both were great. Dillon was awesome for a cardio / low impact / interesting and new workout. Now I work with Lorenzo and I’m a huge fan. He’s especially good at pushing me and my workouts and gives me routines that I can also do on my own, which is a perfect combination with me
Fantastic experience: Such a great gym, with decent equipment, nice trainers, and always clean.
Fantastic experience: Great gym to go...great staff. Cool music while working out, but I wear WiFi earplugs few times to listen to my own music
David, Thank you for the positive review!
Fantastic experience: I’ve been at this gym for years & it has always been great. I’ve had a couple different trainers & eventually ended up with Freddy who IS THE BEST, he’s the most kind, understanding & most patient trainer I’ve met he made sure to remember every detail & arrange my workouts according to my needs & busy schedule, he always tried to work with me if I needed to reschedule so Im very grateful for that because I’ve had to reschedule a lot due to school, work etc. He never got annoyed about how many different questions I would ask about the exercises & what muscles it targeted he always explained it to me very well & I definitely learned a lot from him, I’m very thankful I got to meet Freddy & appreciate him motivating me to keep going during my training !!!
Negative experience: Do NOT gym here. Tried to cancel and was charged for an entire extra month that I won't be using because of a "30 day notice" requirement that is buried in the fine print. It is NOT flexible month to month. Tried to explain that I won't be using gym whatsoever because I moved, and I canceled before the most recent charge, but nothing - no refund. I also was not able to easily cancel on the phone. You have to email their manager and request to cancel your membership. I don't know who does business like that, but apparently crunch fitness does. Takes your money regardless of use. They'll squeeze every penny out of you that they can. The gym is also always crowded with multiple people circling gym for same machine. The free weight area only had one flat bench at a time too. The bathrooms always smell, and the toilets/urinals don't work half the time. The splash guard in the urinals don't work at all either. Some gym members take the cleaner bottles for themselves like they're own personal spray bottles so you have to walk across the gym to get another cleaner bottle to clean your machine. You have to walk across gym too to get a paper towel for your machine because the paper towel holders are always out.
Negative experience: If I can give this gym zero stars I would as that is what is deserves. I joined 7 months ago and around that time the gym changed ownership. The staff while very nice, turns quite often, all saying how horrible the new owner is. The gym shows its age, equipment is old, constantly broken. The gym is dirty, beyond dirty. The restrooms are horrifying. They have several membership levels, why pay more for classes included with little to no classes offered. Staffs response when asked, classes have low attendance. For a little bit more money, go to another gym! I want to emphasize, this gym is dirty! The staff openly say the new owner doesn’t care, owns several other Crunch clubs and they say they are all in horrible shape. How Crunch Corporate does not uphold standards to their franchisees is baffling. Additionally, I fully paid for my training. After paying they kept on charging me and refused to refund me because the prior manager incorrectly put it in the system. There response was we cannot fix it. BEWARE! There are many other gyms, GO elsewhere!
Fantastic experience: Great location, nice and clean, super friendly staff and awesome equipment
Fantastic experience: I simply join for the HIIT classes and I’m glad I finally gave crunch a try. Love taking Ivan and Tai classes. They both help you and make sure you’re doing the workout correctly. Front desk people are so very nice glad I join
Negative experience: absolute worst experience i’ve had at a gym and in general. I called to ask about my membership and they laughed and hung up in my face. Gym is also dirty and front desk is rude. DONT COME HERE!
Negative experience: Dear Crunch, My partner comes with me at the Gym almost everyday. Crunch has a new policy in place that your invites need to have present Id after giving the phone number. I didn’t received an e-mail about this new policy so we didn’t have our wallets. I understand that there’s a new policy in place and we have to respect that. However, when I asked since when we have this new policy? The person working today at (IJ or TJ) 2:45pm took the current flyer and just threw it in the counter so I decided to walk away. If your employees doesn’t know how to deal with people, please send a communication over e-mail so we don’t have to deal with a upset employee. This man was clearly not having a good day. When I came back with the ID he finally provided the name so that’s why I’m sending this communication now. Date: 4/6/2024 Time: 2:45PM
Negative experience: Decent enough gym at a solid price if you get the most basic level. They do have some shady business practices. They have charged me multiple times for fees I never agreed to, hide the true cost with fine print and have been giving me the run around with cancelling as I have been trying for weeks. All in all I would advise to stay away or at least be very untrusting of the staff and closely monitor your card charges.
Fantastic experience: I was lucky enough to have an extended holiday in the Fort Lauderdale area and went to Oakland Park Crunch. Thanks very much for setting things up for me Michelle. Very large gym with lots of machines to work out on. Friendly staff and very clean. I'll definitely go here again when I am in the area.
Negative experience: I've been coming to this gym for a good amount of time. Every gym has its faults but this is the one I wanted to stick with for now but that is starting to change. Overall cleanliness is pretty good after the cleaners go through. Members could stand to bother cleaning up after themselves. However the occasional cleaning supply shortage doesn't help at times. Every other day seems like a piece or more of equipment is out of service. Some of the elliptical running machines make an obnoxious sound as if they need oil or something. The foam mats used to lay on are gross and falling apart. Now the locker room. Locker area doesn't really have any complaints except for the couple of broken locker handles I've encountered. The bathroom, the two urinals are occasionally out of service. Either one or both. There was a toilet (second door down) that seemed to have been broken at one time, fixed but done so in a way where the arm on the inside actually pushed the toilet cover off. You can tell it's hit the floor before because it's broken on the right side corner. MONTHS later (I'm talking a long time) they finally fixed it. The soap dispensers have broken handles. Now the showers. Five showers. The handicap one is on the end. Shower number one works fine. Shower two, three, and the handicap one barely have enough water pressure. Shower four makes a loud sound like the pipe is vibrating in the walls. The soap they provide in the dispensers (if they are filled) are worse than the basic hand soap they used to put in. It's pretty much watered down hand soap. So yeah, make sure to bring your own soap. I've tried the gym in my area but none of them had these problems. I still go here for convenience of it being close to home and on my way to work, and I like walking into people I know that come here.
Negative experience: There isn't a workout goes by that there isn't at least one machine I need that's broken. They play the very worst "music" of any gym.
Fantastic experience: Member for almost a year. Lots of equipment, classes and lots of space. Great customer service to boot.
Fantastic experience: Michelle B was great and welcomed me to there gym for the week while on vacation. Gym had everything I needed and was super clean
Fantastic experience: Night crew is my jam, friendly, fun and positive. I lv to train at this gym. They have everything from free weights to classes to private training and even tanning beds. Thanks to the night crew for rockn it out and making me feel welcome everynight.
Fantastic experience: Crunch Oakland Park is always my go to gym when visiting Ft. Lauderdale. The facility and equipment are plentiful and well maintained. And the staff are always welcoming and very helpful Highly recommend Crunch!
Fantastic experience: Great gym. Front desk folks are awesome. I appreciate the 3 day guest pass. I definitely recommend Crunch to friends. You guys rock!
Fantastic experience: Loved this gym! So spacious and clean and had great classes of all varieties. I was here for a week from New York and able to keep my routine going here. Michelle at the front desk is also an absolute treat!
Fantastic experience: Big friendly gym with helpful staff, cool patrons and lots of varied machines and setups for almost any workout you can think of. Multiples of many of the popular machines means you rarely have to wait to do your sets, keeping the workout going.
Negative experience: Worst crunch ever. Always smells horrible very dingy and gross all around just a negative atmosphere not conducive for motivation
Negative experience: Super aggressive old guy with a white bread who apparently work there is Incredibly rude and unprofessional. Broken machines and a broken urinal the place is gross
Negative experience: They will not let you cancel ur personal training or membership, there are so many hoops. Absolutely ridiculous it seems illegal.
Negative experience: WORSE PLACE EVER !! Was charged after all the staff told me my membership would be cancelled. Never stepped foot in this place . STAFF AND MANAGER DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING ! At All !
Fantastic experience: Crunch Fitness in Ft. Lauderdale rocks! The vibe is energetic, the staff is super helpful, and the equipment is top-notch. Love the variety of classes too. Definitely a five-star gym experience!
Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming here for a couple months now and it’s been great! Plenty of equipment, great environment, and the employees are very helpful. I’ve had a great experience here so far and plan on staying!
Fantastic experience: Came here with 2 friends after getting ripped off by another gym. Shay was at the front desk and made sure we had a positive experience despite some slight payment issues. Had all the equipment you could ask for and the layout was convenient and logical. On top of this, all staff were extremely nice and friendly, smiles all around. 10/10 would def recommend!!
Fantastic experience: The gym is incredibly spacious and well equipped, more so than most other gyms I’ve ever been a member of. There’s so much variety of equipment I was never waiting around to continue my workout. Staff was very friendly, fun, and eager to help and assist. I’m actually feeling more motivated and excited to keep hitting the gym.
Fantastic experience: I have been attending Ivan’s classes for the last 8 months. He is the best instructor and personal trainer that I have worked with. He is creative with his workouts. He always makes sure everyone has good form and is doing each exercise correctly to prevent injury. He has a super positive and encouraging attitude. I definitely recommend him if you are looking for a personal trainer.
Fantastic experience: A big variety and different machines as well as many of them, so you don't have to be waiting to use it. Customers service is really good! I really liked my experience there This person has fantastic customer service skill and she is really kind to people. "Michelle Britton"
Fantastic experience: Great gym . I wish they had a no cellphone policy . It's unreal how many people are sitting around on cell phones like they can't live without them for an hour .
Negative experience: My 18 year old son came home from college for the holidays. He told Crunch this and yet they signed him up for an annual membership. They then explained to me that he could have just paid a one time fee for a month. This company does not look out for the best interest of their clients. They should have never put him on an an annual plan knowing he was a college student home for the holiday.
Positive experience: Crunch Fitness in Oakland Park has a reputation for being a budget-friendly gym, but it's often criticized for its cleanliness, with the need for regular sweeping and mopping. Despite this, it remains dedicated to its mission of enhancing people's health and physical well-being.
Negative experience: Auya sugamila the wort people attendant, I have a problem and she did nothing no give me solutions, so disappointed off crunch fitness oackland park staff
Positive experience: I like it, it's clean and equipment are accessible since there's a lot. Down side is the sunrise location doesn't have a swimming pool, a sauna, or steam room.
Fantastic experience: I was visiting the Fort Lauderdale area for two weeks and decided to get a pass at Crunch. What a great experience. They have great equipment and lots of options, but it was really the staff that won me over. Super nice friendly people no matter what shift I came in on ,very helpful, great energy. I want to sing out April and Michelle for really making it an awesome visit.
Negative experience: BEAWARE WHEN U SIGN UP. THEY SAY ONE THING AND DO ANOTHER. NO ONE SEEMS TO BE IN CHARGE. FEES ALSO CHANGE. WE ARE CUSTOMERS NEED TO BE TREATED WITH RESPECT. NEED ADULTS WITH EXPERIENCE NOT KIDDY LAND
Negative experience: Crunch members BEWARE! Pay attention to your monthly membership fee because this gym is committing fraud and should be investigated. Stephanie the General Manager is rude and will not refund you when confronted regarding these "additional fees". Corporate will not help you as this is a franchise gym. The gym always has multiple machines broken that are never repaired. Run far away from this gym unless you want to be SCAMMED!
Positive experience: ️♂️ **Honest Review of Crunch Fitness Oakland Park** ️♀️ I believe in giving constructive feedback to help businesses improve, and my recent experiences at Crunch Fitness in Oakland Park have prompted me to share my thoughts. In all honesty, the gym's environment has been somewhat less motivating lately. There have been consistent issues, including over a dozen broken pieces of equipment in just the past month, and a persistent problem with the water temperature and filters. While the front desk staff is friendly and helpful, I've noticed a difference in the friendliness of certain personal trainers, which can be unwelcoming if you're not paying for a private class. On a more positive note, I've experienced a more motivating and vibrant atmosphere at the Crunch Fitness branch in Tamarac, with more equipment options and a generally positive vibe. I believe there's tremendous potential for improvement at the Oakland Park branch. I hope this feedback reaches the owner and management, as addressing these issues could make this gym more competitive and appealing. Let's work together to create a better gym experience for everyone! #CrunchFitnessReview #FeedbackForImprovement
Steve, Thank you for the stars! We appreciate the feedback.
Positive experience: Tiene unas canchas gigantes y el ambiente el genial
Frank, Thank you for the stars and the review! We appreciate it.
Fantastic experience: Molto spaziosa
Fantastic experience: El staff es super amable y atentos.
Fantastic experience: Súper Cool...el staff es de lo mejor
Fantastic experience: Used the facilities here before at another location, and the place is cleaner and more organized than most Crunch Fitness locations.
Negative experience: Worst gym ever, none of there staff know what they’re are saying half of the time they also don’t explain the terms & conditions of the memberships be carful trying to leave the gym without sending l “a formal letter explaining why” they’ll send dept collectors after you lol
Bryan, We are proud of our club and our staff. We make great effort to explain the month-to-month membership. There is No cancel fee. Any member can cancel for any reason with a 30-day written notice. We have a digital form at the club. We also accept emails to make it easier for our members.
Positive experience: Cool manager. Gets busy but never impossible to work out. Clean, and people cooperate to keep it organized and clean, at least in the mornings.. It's kind of warm in the mornings.
Rafael, We appreciate the sincere and direct review.
Fantastic experience: love this gym! Friendly staff, always clean, not too many weird people LOVE coming here
Negative experience: Horrible experience! Gym fraudulently charged my card! GM- Bryan was incredibly rude! Im reporting this gym to the better business bureau!
Tiya, we are greatly empathetic to your situation with your fitness center closing. The Upload fitness center closed abruptly on May 5 and all memberships were transferred to crunch fitness. We will gladly process a cancel at your request. However, we cannot refund money previously billed for the membership with Upload Fitness.
Negative experience: Broken equipment. Management staff are unresponsive. Front desk staff and trainers all need to be replaced along with equipment. Staff are confrontational. Everyone who works there has an IDGAF attitude. Notable turn over rate for staff suggests a hostile environment to work. I’ve been to other Crunch locations with much better environment/equipment. Other National brands also far and exceed Crunch Oakland Park.
PT, We are sorry to see you had such an experience. We believe your memebrship was cancelled and revoked for harrassing/rude to memebrs. It seems quite personal. You are welcome to contact us and share more information [email protected]
Fantastic experience: Gym is very clean, staff are friendly and machines are in great condition. The personal trainers pay attention to you and seem happy in their jobs.
Fantastic experience: So glad they started back to taking Active Fit, love this gym and the location being only 5 mins away. Clean, lots of equipment, the HIIT workout areas are awesome too. So many peaches in attendance and I ain’t talking groceries. My best advice so you’re not hit by the fruit of the loom Workout, please don’t take forever kiking with your sis next to you, don’t forget cardio and sashay away.
Adam, Thank you for the stars! We appreciate the feedback.
Negative experience: Got charged well after I cancelled. Called to get the money back and was told it was a mistaken charge and would be refunded in 3-5 business days. Over a month later nothing and I’ve reached out multiple times
Negative experience: Cleanliness is ok, staff is nice, and selection of machines is good. However, I’ll never understand that despite everyone wearing earphones and listening to their own music, Crunch BLASTS music incessantly and refuses to turn it down. Disappointing…
Mark, thank you for taking the time to post the review. Music is very subjective and what is good music to some people is bad music to others. Where some members think the music is too loud, we have others that request to cut up the volume. We can only say that we will work diligently to find a Happy balance for the majority of the members.
Negative experience: Sure would be nice to have a men's locker room that female employees are not using as a break room. She loves to hang out in the men's locker room and talk to her girlfriends on the phone.
Negative experience: FRAUD!!! This CRUNCH GYM is committing fraud and has been reported to the Fort Lauderdale POLICE STOLE MY CREDIT CARD INFO FROM ANOTHER GYM THAT I WAS GOING TO AND THEY CLOSED!!!! They even ran my card and signed me up!!!!??? Then they would not refund me ? I have never been here no do I want to be a member... but they got ahold of my credit card info and signed me up with out my consent or knowledge This car is committing fraud and has been reported to the Fort Lauderdale POLICE
Negative experience: The gym we had been going to closed down and forwarded all of their memberships to Crunch. We went in to cancel our membership (we still had to pay an additional month before they'd cancel it), we got cancellation notices and we are still being charged for something we no longer belong to. We've called to speak to a manager, left several messages for someone to call back and we've even sent emails to the manager... all to no avail! I will handle it with my credit card company, but just beware that it's next to impossible to reach anyone to handle billing issues and they'll keep charging you until you notice it and do something about it!
Negative experience: I was transferred from Upload fitness to this gym without my knowledge and they deduct money from me all the time, although I have not been there even once, I have written and called them, all to no avail. I blocked transactions through the bank and they still wrote off an amount more than usual for something. I would not recommend anyone to deal with them!!!
Negative experience: I have a very bad experience with that location i was signed up with since i m struggling with time because of work and school i went to the Gym talk to a customer guy i told him i want to cancel because i don't have time he advised me to freeze my account instead and i did agree with him let him do it but the keep charging until i just found out after 3 months and they told me the account was not frozen who is responsible? How can they keep my money? And be so rude with me. They do not want to refund me, making me pay for no reason i m so mad i don't recommend it to anyone found another place they just focus on taking money from us be aware stay away from that place
Mirlande, We apologize for any negative experience. Our freeze is done with a digital form in the computer system. Once completed it sends the member an immediate copy of the form thru email. If there was any computer mistake… the management team will step in and get the mistake corrected with the billing company and the computer system.
Positive experience: I'm glad they were there for me at first (they took me with just a debit card). But then a staff member had a nasty attitude toward me (again) before I left and I complained to management. The attitude of this staff member and another older employee... and was what my complaint was about... and what they're still unapologetic for. Some people simply SHOULDN'T be in customer service and any normal human being knows that any issues you have with employees or clients (especially ones that have you "shaking in your boots"... in a sweat), should be handled in private and not on the floor. They will keep their jobs, though nasty people while I still search for work as an injured though educated individual, trying to save my life.
Yvonne, We love having you as a member. We often have to make very difficult decisions and conversations. Their were many members that complained that they felt it was just too much time spent in the locker rooms.
Negative experience: Beware of this place Seriously! On April 27th I signed up for the $24 a month plan using my MasterCard, all of my payments were processed without a problem until June, July and August I noticed they unlawfully withdrew over $200 out of my bank account, I never gave them my bank card information in anyway, shape or form for this account and absolutely no authorization to use this account. The general manager was completely rude and out of line, instead of receiving an apology along with a refund I had to contact my bank and submit a fraud claim.
Positive experience: The gym overall is a decent gym. Little disappointed in equipment . Some machines they only have one of so you’re constantly waiting and the machines that they have one or more of, have need repair signs on them. So you’re still stuck waiting . They need more machines and more duplicate machines to deal with the heavy volume of people that go there. I don’t see me keeping this membership long
Negative experience: Worse experience I have ever had since I moved to Florida, they practically stole my money. They made me sign an agreement to use a trainer and to make sure everything was correct they scrolled the whole agreement on the iPad so I couldn't read it. To make the story short I tried to cancel the following day and the manager “Stephanie “ btw very rude and not professional, refused to give me my 240 dollars back .watch out with these people they are scam
Negative experience: Today my partner walked into this gym ready to join but lady at the front desk turn the deal very sour with her demeaning attitude and terrible customer service skills. Obviously we didn’t sign up and doubt we’ll ever be back to this gym for as long as this woman works there. It’s very sad how one employee can chase prospective customers away with their obnoxious attitude. They couldn’t care less about the opportunities they are given by the nice gentleman who manages this gym.
Negative experience: Dirty gym, their benches suck their either don't go up all the way or don't go down flat for certain work outs. Too many running machines that not many people use but the leg and shoulder machines are always being used which means they don't have enough of those you you end up waiting long or mess up your routine due to taken equipment. Good thing is that is temporary so I guess I'll deal with it for the price for the next couple months
Sobrino, We are sorry to hear about a negative experience.
Fantastic experience: I've been to a lot of gyms, in a lotta different states and countries in Europe and i've never been so excited about a gym as I am with Crunch. As soon as i stepped in, the staff welcomed me and was so hyped and happy that he immediately has given me the same energy. They were patient and took their time to present to me all the subscription available with their own advantages and then we went together on a "tour" of the gym. I've been going to the gym for a while now, but when i was a beginner i wished i would've found a gym like this. Is super beginner friendly and they provide you with all the information you need to start your journey. And that is beside their KickOff Session which is kinda like a personal training session just for you, to help you start your journey. I took it (it's included in the subscription) and i cannot be more happy about it. It helped me adjust my routine to my goals and provided me with a timeline and a plan for achieving those goals. The atmosphere in the gym is amazing, everybody is friendly, you won't feel judged at all. The equipments are clean at all times and there's always staff around ready to help you with everything you need! There's a lot more good things to say about this gym but i'll let you guys see for yourself. You won't regret it!
Andrada, Thank you for the stars and the positive feedback. We will pass this on to the staff. Thank You!
Negative experience: Used to be the best but cancelled my membership after many years as the place is now poorly managed and on times 20 pieces of equipment broken for long periods of time. Most of my friends left and went to Zoo gym. Sad loved this place so much.
Paul, Thank You for the stars and the kind words. We appreciate it!
Positive experience: I like this gym, the trainers are really nice and the staff too. Hiit classes are really good mostly with T and Ivan. I mostly go to this one even tough I go to Tamarac and coral springs too. UPDATE: i have given this recommendation to Brian and have not been take into considereation, changing rooms needs hooks please. This is not on the gym, but there are a LOT OF PEOPLE that smell really bad and NEVER clean the machines after use, wich is really annoying as a user.
Dan, Thank you for the stars. We appreciate it!
Negative experience: Rude front desk girl Aisha. So I’ve been a member at Crunch fitness a couple months ago but I always go to the Coral Springs location but due to some stuff that I was doing I had to go to this Crunch on Oakland Park. I forgot my tag but luckily I had a picture of it, somehow it didn’t work the first time. The girl Aisha on the front desk started giving us a really bad attitude treating me and my girlfriend like we were stealing from her not very cool we didn’t appreciate that. I had to get in contact with the GM on Coral Springs to fix my tag. Meanwhile Aisha was not trying to find a solution and her attitude was more and more rude. I also noticed that she treats like that to other members. Definitely Aisha is not good for the front desk position as it requires someone happy willing to help also Stephanie the GM didn’t try to correct her employee attitude. Hopefully this review helps for improving customer service because members just want to feel welcome and workout.
Negative experience: Worst gym experience in Fort Lauderdale. The machines and treadmills are broken for weeks without getting fixed, the ceilings are leaking, the gym is dirty and smells very bad, during classes they take all the dumbbells from the communal areas so you have no dumbbells on one side of the gym and I could go on and on why this gym needs either new management or new ownership. Due to this reason I have switched gyms and now that I’m trying to cancel my membership they are making my experience even worse. I have called to cancel my membership I was given the managers email address. I haven’t received a response so I called and they took a message with my telephone number, no one has called and whenever I call the manager is not there. Very unprofessional and poor customer service. Stay away!!!!
Fantastic experience: This gym is great. I don’t feel uncomfortable at all. The staff is very friendly. It’s very clean, there is a lot of equipment to use. The only issue is parking at peak time after work, but it’s a great gym. I highly recommend it.
Fantastic experience: I was there when Daniel Johnedis (the previous reviewer) was there, he arrived after us and the manager explained very nicely to him that she'd be right with him as soon as she finished helping us. He waited for 5 min then came over and interrupted us with "HORRIBLE Terrible MEAN! I have to leave cause I have a job. I'm going to leave a bad review" We and the manager were all left in shock for this sudden uncalled for instruction. Apparently he was too (self-) important to wait 5 min for his turn. I have no idea how he planned to do a workout in the 5 min he waited before storming out full drama queen style. You can also see from his other reviews that he likes to leave 1* reviews whenever he doesn't get his way. The manager is always super helpful and remembers us every time. Gym has everything we need.
Fantastic experience: I’ve been working out at this gym for almost 2 years. I’ve been to many gyms and I think this is a great one, especially for the price. The staff; Carl, Steven and the manager Brian are always welcoming, smiling and they make sure the gym is clean and stocked with paper products and sanitizer. They have a great variety of weight, cardio machines and an open studio fort yoga/stretching l/classes. I enjoy starting my day here and I recommend it for any gym rat. :)
Ali, We truly appreciate the kind words.
Negative experience: Probably the worst of them. I would say consider signing up anywhere before signing up here… this gym is so poorly kept.. so many reasons; where do I start.. a lot of the machines have cracked leather (altho I keep complaining) •Many Machines make this awful squeaking noise at every rep. •Bathrooms are …gross, sketchy, and so outdated. (Just forget the showers) •The gym floor is a safety hazard. I’ve reported so many times all the holes in the concrete floor under the carpet. Nearly broke my ankle at 2 desperate occasions.. •Elliptical, treadmill, and stairmaster all make this terrible sounds. Such poor maintenance. •Rusted equipment •God forbid it rains, your shoes will be soaked from the terrible drainage of the parking lot (that’s not really their fault but to consider) •be ware of the cable machines. High probability of snapping.. the plastic lining on them is half peeled off.. •oh and jeez don’t touch these nasty Mats. So dirty it should have Biohazard sign on it. Whoever owns this gym should be embarrassed and crunch should consider disassociating themselves from him. RUN while you can. Any other gym will do a better job. If you do sign up. (You only have 3 days to cancel without loosing your money).. the only good thing is the nice staff. I feel sorry they have to work these deplorable conditions.
Fantastic experience: Love this gym!!! It’s big, clean, nice and cool with air conditioning. Heaps of space and not crowded so equipment you need is usually free and you can workout in your own bubble. Equipment is all pretty new and they have a huge variety no matter what exercise you’re into. Staff are super friendly and helpful, greeting everyone with a smile and warm welcome (shout out Stephanie!)
Courtney, THANK You!
Negative experience: attended my Crunch gym location in Oakland Park Florida on 9/23/23. As I always do, I do a lot of cardio in the gym which involves a lot of walking, not all of it being on the treadmills. I have done this for quite some time, and have a route/routine that I do. Every morning Crunch wants to run some type of class back in the back of the gym and block its members from doing their workout in that area, which is clearly supposed to be for all gym fitness customers, and I I pay a premium monthly price for a membership. Today I was told that I could not go back in the area because they were having their class, and it was too dangerous for me to be back there. If you're having a class that is too dangerous for people to be back in the area while you're having class, then perhaps that class is too dangerous to have in the 1st place. Secondly, if it is that dangerous for me to be back there, then perhaps the class should be moved to your cardio/step area, where it is secluded and not in the way of other Crunch members who are being denied use of that part of the gym. This was all attributed to Ty and GM Stephanie, who were both less than pleasant. Ty ultimately spreads out his classes workout area, intentionally, so that other people cannot get into the area, except for the heavy weights, which for some reason people are allowed in to that area. This class normally lasts an hour, but for some reason today, Ty decided to extend it for 2 hours. Crunch certainly has the right to have classes for it's members, but they certainly do not have the right to restrict access of their other members, and discriminate against the rest of the Crunch members who are there trying to do their workout routine, especially when I pay a top price to be at the fitness club! To continue this issue, today I was working out at Crunch, and their policy to not let everyone back in that area must only apply to those they seem to want to discriminate against, because not only was the class in session, there were other people in the area that were clearly not a part of the class. Be very careful, Crunch will discriminate to satisfy their own personal wishes.
Negative experience: Every single time I’m at the gym this woman who is supposed to be working is always in the men’s restroom talking on the phone. now because I went and complained and I took a picture of her. I got kicked out because she accused me of cursing at her which was never the case and the new manager is a piece of garbage go to any other gym. The rules state no cell phone allowed
Fantastic experience: Very nice and clean place to work out .All equipment in nice working condition and front desk is very Nice and friendly .Sneezy and Sonia Lea are very acknowledgeable and always with a positive attitude. Highly recommend
Fantastic experience: A place to workout. Love love the classes. Great instructors wonderful results
Fantastic experience: First time here at Crunch Fitness Oakland Park. Staff is so friendly and attentive! Super clean facility and lots of equipment! Great gym!!
Lucy, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We appreciate it! Be sure to check out the BootyBuilder we added last month.
Positive experience: Upsides: Clean and not too crowded. Downside: LOTS of broken equipment- that stays broken for weeks. Equipment is old and outdated compared to most Planet Fitness locations.
Thomas, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We rarely get compared to Planet Fitness since we have so many more options in equipment. We recently added more platforms and bumper plates and will be doing another major addition this November.
Negative experience: It’s Unbelievable that’s it’s “bad gym etiquette” to rest for 30 sec to a minute to rest, change a song, or look up a way to properly use the machine or to look up how to do a workout without someone saying that we’re “playing” on our phones!!!!!! It’s also sad that who ever responds to the comments, respond in a rude way like they know that “we’re” playing on the phone
We can only comment…. that spending time playing on your phone while during your workout is not appropriate or fair to the other members. Claiming/sitting on a piece of equipment while staring at your cellphone and not allowing anyone else to use the equipment is inappropriate. This behavior will always aggravate other members. We only mention this as effort for all members to co-exist and enjoy their time at the gym.
Negative experience: Brian is horrible at his job and should not be in a managerial position. And such a shame he feels he needs to lie and pretend he is a regional of 7 gyms when in fact, he a manager of a privately owned Crunch. This has nothing to do with the charge of “ annual fee “ This had everything to do with how you lied, and handled the situation.
Paul, we acknowledge your frustration with paying the annual fee. The annual fee is a one-time fee each year on the anniversary of the membership. We do not feel the personal attacks are justified as result of the fee's that are outlined in the membership. We have done our very best to explain those fee's and apologize for a negative experience. We wish you the very best at the next facility and encourage you to stay active with your health and fitness program.
