Fort Rucker Physical Fitness Center: Opinions

Fantastic experience: Great gym. Super clean and has everything I need. It isn't overly crowded as long as you can avoid PT hours. Worst times are 5-7 am Tuesday and Thursday.
Positive experience: Well stocked gym on post. Real busy and for good reason.
Fantastic experience: First time here and it’s pretty nice. Big track outside and the inside is filled with any equipment you can think of. An excellent place to train.
Fantastic experience: Great place, alot of machines
Fantastic experience: Nice track area, definitely worn. Never had an issue with anyone bothering me and never felt out of place as someone with mobility issues. Well lit at night but no security cameras.
Positive experience: My only gripe is that this gym does not abide by their own policy. I have been told to change shirts (the same shirts that I have worn at without issue). The shirts were not absurdly revealing or immodest; they were exactly what you would expect to see men wear in the gym. I addressed that, although I understand yoga pants are traditionally acceptable in society (along with muscle shirts), why isn't this rule enforced as well? The response was that rule just hasn't caught up with the times yet, which is why it isn't enforced. With that in mind, the gym should choose one of three COAs: - Update the rule regarding yoga pants, which authorizes them. - Update the rule regarding the midriff for men (with modesty, of course). - Enforce the rule regarding yoga pants.
Fantastic experience: It was great
Fantastic experience: All encompassing!
Fantastic experience: Good gym has everything you need large facility
Positive experience: The staff are ALWAYS cleaning and working very hard which is great to see. There is one team member there who I have yet to see sitting down, she is constantly sweeping! However they didn’t have hot water for a few months. Then their only water fountain in a HUGE gym was leaking and that took a few days to fix. Some days they don’t open on time, which really sucks if you try to get there early to beat the rush. Well equipped, lots of room to play. Managers/members do a good job of equipment stewarding, and always respond to broken machines in a timely manner.
Positive experience: Spacious gym, friendly staff, and clean locker rooms. A wide variety of equipment for any type of fitness needs. Please change the location of the boxing equipment, especially the speed bag.
Fantastic experience: Awesome facility, great staff the gym has a wide variety of equipment and locker rooms are always clean...
Fantastic experience: Lots of space, and no one bothers you.
Positive experience: Ft. Rucker gym is a great place to exercise.
Positive experience: Good gym, lots of equipment
Fantastic experience: Wide range of equipment for all of your fitness needs.
Fantastic experience: Friendly and great
Fantastic experience: Great equipment
Fantastic experience: Great Post gym
Fantastic experience: Better than Fort Campbell
Fantastic experience: Great gym!
Positive experience: Good gym.
Positive experience: Great gym, friendly staff.
Positive experience: Very busy in the evenings, but the excellent staff does well managing the rush. Very clean and maintained.
Fantastic experience: I’m not a gym rat, but am slowly getting to know this gym. It has a lot to offer.
Fantastic experience: Good Army gym. Nice clean sauna and men's locker room! Good selection of equipment and not too crowded
Positive experience: Had not been here in close to 15 years. Lots of equipment set up all over the basketball courts.
Positive experience: Has a great spot to practice your acft events. There is tape with the measurements wrote on it going down the lanes for the standing power throw
Positive experience: Pretty good variety of equipment. Not a 24 hour gym so that is a bummer. ID is required. Has a pool, lots of squat racks, at least one racquet ball court, full sized locker rooms and showers w/sauna. No basketball courts cause the space is utilized for equipment. Also, has dedicated areas for sled drag/pulls and ball throws for ACFT training.
Fantastic experience: Good layout and effective use of space. All the essentials for a good workout. Staff are friendly and the locker room is clean.
Positive experience: Nice big gym. Good selection of machines and weights. Clean and adequate facilities. Selection could be better, but the gym is large and good enough.
Positive experience: Great gym stayed open even thru the pandemic but with strict policies to keep all who enter safe. But one problem im really concerned about is the showers are not being cleaned idther at all or not properly, when there is dark black mold around in certain areas in the showers; makes me wonder is the remaining gym in general being cleaned. A place were there's a lot of different people from all parts of the world, this gym needs to be more paid attention in this day and age.
Positive experience: Great front desk staff. This is a very clean facility and the employees are constantly cleaning and checking out the rooms and equipment for the safety of patrons. I hope they replace the fiber glass pool ramp because it leaves little fragments of fiber glass in your feet. All the amenities work well and the pool is the perfect temperature.
Positive experience: Gets the job done, decently clean, and provide cleaning products to use before and after equipment. Wish they had a basketball court in this location, one is located at the smaller gym on post. It's an older building and does get hot inside in the summer.
Fantastic experience: I mean it’s a good mix of machines and free weights; typically I never have to settle for something I don’t want; nor do I have to wait very long for a particular thing. Overall great and the staff is alway helpful. Really really wish they had CrossFit classes like so many of the Army base gyms but I can’t have everything I want. Please add CrossFit! Do it !
Negative experience: Too many soldiers
Positive experience: Wish they'd play music again
Negative experience: Honestly have no idea.. I don't use it.. I run outside.. go once they get rid of the masks
Positive experience: Good facility & equipment. TONS of squat racks & deadlift platforms, pretty awesome.
Negative experience: Lots of space and equipment, but at least 10% is broken, and there is no A/C...for 3 weeks now. Unacceptable.
Fantastic experience: I'm the trainer here, and I absolutely love the staff and atmosphere! Everthything is kept clean and organized. Yall come see us!
Fantastic experience: Has everything you need for an amazing workout!
Fantastic experience: Best gym in SE AL!
Fantastic experience: Great location and staff. Plenty of equipment but you may need to wait a little during peak hours. If you have a problem with the facility don’t be one of the people giving the staff a hard time- simply fill out an ice complaint/compliment and someone will call you back.
Positive experience: Awesome amount of space and training areas. Plenty of training equipment.Very clean. Staff is friendly. Please add some Yokes and strongman equipment lol XD. The only complaint I have is the insufferable policing of mask use. Staff would rather see you pass out than catch you breath before you pull it back up.
Fantastic experience: Nice location for those with post access to get a workout in. Hiden gem is that hardly anyone uses the pool for lap swim.
Fantastic experience: Great place to work out everyday. Plenty of equipment for every and great variety.
Fantastic experience: The Staff is really friendly and the gym is really equipped.
Fantastic experience: This gym is one of the largest I’ve been to during my time in the military. Even during peak times, there’s equipment available. Not to mention the pool and full track. They have stand alone mirrors placed throughout. You only need to wear a mask if unvaccinated. Some equipment is closed due to Covid including a couple self ran treadmills. Otherwise, this gym has everything.
Fantastic experience: My all-time favorite Army gym
Fantastic experience: Great facility with top of the line equipment to help with your fitness goals
Fantastic experience: Basketball floor has been used as a gym. Great amount of equipment and weights plus indoor pool. If you're visiting rucker don't use the hotel gym. This one will be a new home away from home.
Fantastic experience: Great amount of racks and machines. There are also two more rooms if the racks are full. Cardio room also has plenty of space.
Fantastic experience: Clean great people
Negative experience: 3/10 Equipment is old and beat up. They require a mask while working out. They require visitors to carry around a spray bottle while the work out. Poor quality and pointless rules that do nothing for safety.
Fantastic experience: Basketball floor has been used as a gym. Great amount of equipment and weights plus indoor pool. If you're visiting rucker don't use the hotel gym. This one will be a new home away from home.
Negative experience: I served 26 years the army I worked out every day at lunch in my uniform by just taking my blouse off which is my top of my uniform with my combat boots on. Now I am retired I tried to go to the gym and workout while my son is in swim practice now I am being told by the manager that I cannot lift weights because I am wearing blue jeans even though I am wearing gym shoes. What has the army come to? I retired at the perfect time The army has went to hell in a handbasket
Negative experience: Would be 4-5 stars if a mask wasn’t required! Super spacious gym to “social distance” and the Army uses zero common sense. I’ll workout off base.
Fantastic experience: We workout here as often as possible. Great gym. Love Ft Rucker.
Fantastic experience: So big and they have many machines and a lot of room for exercise
Fantastic experience: We had an awesome time at the indoor pool
Fantastic experience: This being the large gym, has pretty much any sort of equipment you need for fitness. The other gym is less crowded, but lacks a bunch of stuff this gym has.
Fantastic experience: There's soooo many things to do and they have so much extra stuff readily available.
Fantastic experience: Great gym
Fantastic experience: One of the best MWR gyms I've ever visited!!! The equipment is great and the facility is always pristine! I really enjoy coming here to work out!
Fantastic experience: Best Gym in the Wiregrass
Fantastic experience: It's a basketball court that has a plethora of exercise equipment. There's an indoor pool. Military-grade indeed. Perhaps the best thing on Fort Rucker?
Fantastic experience: Safety everybody wearing masks
Fantastic experience: Get swoll
Fantastic experience: Full service gym with good equipment and decent hours.
Fantastic experience: Got everything you need
Fantastic experience: Has plenty of equipment
Fantastic experience: Get swoll
Positive experience: Due to COVID, you require go wear a face mask all time
Fantastic experience: Paid for by your tax dollars! Decent equipment and normally not to crowded, even during peak time you can usually find equipment to get your workout done without looking to hard...
Fantastic experience: I pick things up and put them down. Get swole!!!
Fantastic experience: Great place to get gains
Fantastic experience: Very good, but they need to fix some of their machines faster when they break.
Fantastic experience: Awesome gym, but it can get very crowded. Wish it was open 24/7 too!
Fantastic experience: Location and equipment are fantastic
Fantastic experience: In here everyday making my fat hurt it's great for whatever you wanna do
Fantastic experience: Great walking track
Fantastic experience: Why can they never keep employees.....
Fantastic experience: Nice gym with all the equipment for a great workout
Fantastic experience: Love this gym
Positive experience: Lots of equipment just old
Positive experience: Lots of different equipment.
Positive experience: It's a serviceable gym.
Positive experience: Wish it had better hours
Negative experience: Oppressing gym. Do not let your sports bra show in any way, shape, or form. They will make you change or kick you out.
Positive experience: Well equipped military gym. Would be nicer if the gym had 24hr access.
Positive experience: Pretty decent...guess they know that if you're stuck at Rucker, you'll need to burn off some frustration.
Positive experience: Great gym but not available 24/7, which is the standard at every other base gym I've been to
Negative experience: No basketball court. Staff has no customer service, expects customers to know things. We are new to the area, and guarantee we will not be back. The other gym is closed due to holiday, which today is 12/30/18 never knew the 30th is a holiday.
Fantastic experience: Great memories of my day's at fort Rucker..was there in 1993 until 1995
Fantastic experience: Extremely well equipped gym. There isn't a single piece of gym equipment missing whether you're doing Crossfit, free-weights, olympic lifting, cardio, or abs. They even have a few extras that you wouldn't normally see such as movable mirrors for form checking and climbing ropes. There is a track outside as well. They have towels available for guests' use.
Fantastic experience: Excellent Aqua Zumba class
Fantastic experience: Great gym
Fantastic experience: everything that you need for a good workout
Fantastic experience: Nice gym. Many options for different classes. Has a big pool with some adult swimming classes as well. Sometimes it gets a little crowded but very functional. Fairly clean and has a friendly staff.
