Fidalgo Pool & Fitness Center: Opinions

Fantastic experience: Ideal temp for a work out not to warm to stress the body.
Fantastic experience: This is a great community pool with a super friendly staff. A fun water slide for all ages. Lots of floats for kids and adults to enjoy. And even a rope to swing on. Not to mention all of the other fitness activities and equipment I have yet to try.
Fantastic experience: Like the limit of people allowed in gym at any one time.
Fantastic experience: Clean and spacious
Fantastic experience: This place is AMAZING! Warm, welcoming staff and swim coaches! They provide swim lessons for ASD kiddos with incredible passion and enthusiasm! It has helped my son’s sensory needs so much! Thank you Fidalgo Pool & Fitness Center!
Fantastic experience: Great friendly staff, fun group fitness classes and instructors and a great place to host a birthday pool party for kiddos!!
Fantastic experience: Amazing place and such an asset to the community. Highly recommend
Fantastic experience: Went to support a friend @ the March Madness Masters swim meet held there and it was a nice experience...
Fantastic experience: Clean and well managed, nice people.
Fantastic experience: Nice people, pool is old.
Positive experience: Could use some better facilities for the people in the stands. During events there is only two restrooms. Each is for one person. Ventilation could use some updating as well, watching an event in the pool is uncomfortable, the seats are antique.
Fantastic experience: Everyone here is so friendly. I'm new to the area and the class. Carla makes it enjoyable and fun. And I absolutely adore the lifeguard Summer

Positive experience: Lovely
Positive experience: Fairly priced and nice atmosphere, didn't feel like the place where ppl would pee in too often. Locker rooms are kinda off-putting though. But they allowed my non-binary sibling to rinse off in the lifeguards room so that's chill
Fantastic experience: Great pool, friendly staff!

Fantastic experience: Had my granddaughters pool birthday party here last Sunday. The lifeguards and staff members are nice and friendly and very helpful in more ways than you'll ever expect them to be. Thank you all for a very pleasant birthday party. My granddaughter loved it.
Fantastic experience: $3.00 for a hot shower?! Best $$ I’ve ever spent! Have been camping outside Anacortes for a week and the showers at the campground are free with hot water BUT NO HEAT in the bathhouse. Kind staff here and a clean locker room, unlimited hot water! I’m a new woman!
Negative experience: We've been to several public swimming pools in WA, this one is very very outdated. The locker room makes you feel like you traveled back in time. I'm surprised the pool hasn't even gotten a fresh coat of paint to replace the old faded dirty look. Water is also one of the coldest we've experienced, which is too bad especially for the poor kids that end class shivering to death. This place definitely needs updating and Anacortes deserves better. I will say the staff is amazing!
Fantastic experience: Great facilities and staff
Negative experience: Change the schedule last minute
Fantastic experience: i love this place so fun on the water slide
Fantastic experience: Educational. Fun. Work out machines. All ages...
Fantastic experience: Love to watch ama fun
Fantastic experience: Love our pool! ❤️Couldn’t be happier that we have such a fine place to swim...❤️
Positive experience: Can't argue with the price to swim. Wish the water was slightly warmer
Positive experience: It’s an alright pool! Nothing special, but the staff are nice. Parts of it are outdated, but as a competitive swimmer the pool is okay (however, many say it’s way too cold for recreational swimming). They do have a water slide and a diving area, as well as blocks for competitive swimming diving.
Fantastic experience: The most reasonably priced gym option in town. They offer the full spectrum of gym classes and have options for attending the classes virtually as well as in person. A fraction of the cost of other gym memberships, with the added benefit of a pool. The weight room is a little on the smaller side, but has all of the equipment you need and it is rarely crowded. Perfect option for people looking for an independent workout plan, but trainers are available as well if wanted.
Negative experience: This pool is FREEZING. I signed my daughter up for aquatots and the kids that had already been in the class were in WETSUITS. I dreaded going every week because I didn’t want to be in the cold water either. I will be taking her elsewhere in the future where she can have a positive water experience and not be begging to get out of the pool at under 2 years old… the amount of kids that go through this place they really need a separate warmer teaching pool. It’s time for an update, it’s the exact same as it was when I was a kid.
Fantastic experience: Love this 25 meter pool. water is nice temp, warm but not to and the water quality is nice, low chlorine but clean - not to harsh on the skin and hair. The pool facilities like the locker room and toilets are decent, nice for what a locker room is and the front desk is real helpful and friendly. So thankful for this pool in our community. Great for lap swimming which is what I like to do. Parking seems to be plentiful. I would think the local swim meets and teams are lucky to have such a great home.
Negative experience: I arrived to swim for an hour. The pool charges just over $8.00 per 30 minutes of lap swim. Oak harbor’s pool is $7.00 with time only limited to the swim schedule. Poor service, over priced, and needs a renovation
Fantastic experience: Not nearly as crowded as we expected.
Fantastic experience: We had a great time watching our grandsons at swimming lessons!
Fantastic experience: Thankyou, for being organized and letting people swim ! (...in these days of masks and ...)
Fantastic experience: It is hard to find a large pool that a family can enjoy all together. Our family commutes about 30 mins to Anacortes just to go swimming. Fidalgo pool has a little bit of everything. A diving board, floaties and even a waterside. During covid times we had to make a reservation online during one of the rec swim times. The water slide is shutdown right now but we still love going to swim there!
Fantastic experience: During the time of this pandemic my wife and I have been struggling to find fun activities for our family. My wife decided to call Anacortes and ask the pool people about scheduling they have half an hour blocks available for $5 a person where you pretty much swim privately!! We had a fantastic time during our stay the water is warm and clean the amenities are also nice and very clean as well!!
Fantastic experience: Really nice and helpful staff
Fantastic experience: Taking swim therapy for post cardiac arrest,
Fantastic experience: Very clean, friendly
Fantastic experience: Great people lovely facility
Negative experience: Wasn't the best place to swim in and the locks on the toilet doors didn't lock neither did the locks on the changing stalls
Negative experience: I really wanted this pool to be amazing, however, this was a HIGHLY disappointing experience! I'm always looking for a new pool to add to my list of those that I frequent, and this one isn't far from my home. The actual pool was fine. However, I'm very sad to report that this pool gets 1 star, and won't get my return business because the pool staff were very rude and disrespectful. The front desk lady was quite lovely though so she gets the star.
Negative experience: Parents should be aware that the "life guard" is useless walks by kids staring into space. When observing swimming lessons one mother had to yell out from the balcony that her daughter had slipped off the table into the water and no one noticed until she yelled down. My child was put in a class that had children who were advanced swimmers when I made it clear my child knew nothing about swimming. The two female swim instructors spent more time taunting, teasing, and insulting a youth with high behavior needs. I could often overhear both of them telling the child he was "evil" or "mean" then laughing at him. I timed each class and It was over 15 minutes every time with one kid. Whoever is in upper management needs to do a complete overhaul of the staff who interact with the kids. I would also suggest staff who work with the kids have some basic skills and working knowledge, or plain common sense when interacting with kids who have high needs. No wonder you do not want parents or guardians down by the pool. Person answering the phone and greeting people was polite and helpful
Positive experience: We've been taking our daughter swimming here twice a week during the pandemic and have enjoyed this pool! The staff are friendly, the facility clean and for the price we've been very happy. However this pool is frigid...When we ask for the temperature to be turned up we're told to talk to the director who we always seem to be crossing paths with. Any given time we go swimming multiple pool users are wearing thermal layers bordering on wetsuits, including staff, so I don't think it's just us. Unfortunately we can't keep going here as we just can't enjoy it anymore, which is a shame given its 1 minute from our house and we'd prefer to support our community.
Fantastic experience: I love this gym it is always clean, quiet, never crowded, there is a pretty view, and pool access. There is basic equipment, events rooms available for rent, pool rental available, and the grounds are nice and big if you want to take your walk outside. The monthly fee is around $50-60 but you can buy a day pass for $10 for the gym and pool, and on Sundays there is a $5 day pass for the pool. Yesterday an employee Ashley went above and beyond when I couldn't get my water bottle filled and she highlighted the best time for me to swim on a schedule. Thanks for being an AWESOME employee Ashley
Fantastic experience: Everyone is polite and very efficient. Facility is clean
Thanks Bruce! We love the feedback.
Fantastic experience: Ftiendly staff. Adult only swim times.
Fantastic experience: Great place to stay fit.
Fantastic experience: They have been over the top in customer service and help!
Positive experience: Water too cold in the pool.
Positive experience: Very nice facilities.
Positive experience: Excellent classes offered.
Positive experience: The swimmers say the pool is nice. The facility seems nicely kept. The viewing area can be challenging to watch from depending on which lane your swimmer is in.
Fantastic experience: Great Facility. Pool and nice gym area. Kid friendly open swims are a blast.
Fantastic experience: Older place, but still lots of fun.
Fantastic experience: Very nice place for a birthday party. They have large plans for a great expansion.
Fantastic experience: Best place to swim. Deep water aerobics the best. Wish I were back there. Lynell
Fantastic experience: 3/8/19 - came back it was a Friday night they were crowded and when that happens the rules change. Which was very disappointing, for a 6 year old and a 2 3/4 - but when redirected they continued to enjoy themselves. One change was parents weren't allowed to catch their children at the bottom of the slide and the first time I was allowed to. Second no child with flotation device was allowed in the area where the floats were. I feel if it's not safe it's not safe changing the rules depending on the amount of people attending is not acceptable. I was told by one life guard I wasn't allowed to be further than a arm length from my child who was very capable of swimming and going under the water fine. While three large boys were in the shallow end where the young kids were making waves and nothing was said to them. We ended leaving and I was a bit dissatisfied with this visit. 2/27/19 - update: brought my grandchildren here last week we had so much fun swimming, it was great my granddaughter went down the slide and my grandson played on the floating water toys. Will return lots of fun for all ages. Nice big pool. I really dig this place the classes they offer are perfect for any adult age person. Classes appear set for different ages and level of peoples abilities. I am a 49 year old female who has never taken yoga and strength & conditioning classes and they have them and I feel stronger and less muscular pain in just three weeks, no pressure to attend. They have a beautiful aquatic center and a nice but petite cardio/weight room very limited cardio equipment, however with all the other amenities they offer it gives you opportunity to try something new. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the spirit of the place is good.
Fantastic experience: Awesome pool!
Thanks Sam! We love our patrons!
Fantastic experience: Some days the water is warm and others are cold.
Fantastic experience: Excellent.
Fantastic experience: Very fun and safe for my 8 yr old daughter
Fantastic experience: great swim
Positive experience: Nice
Positive experience: Classic city pool. Looking fwd to the new pool
Positive experience: Friendly staff, although use fees could be lower
Positive experience: A little older of a building, but great vibes!
Positive experience: Went for a swim meet, can't see lanes 1 or 2 from the balcony. Beautiful neighborhood with spectacular views of Fidalgo Bay. Host team ran a very efficient meet, very appreciative.
Positive experience: We were delighted with the quality operation here. Glad we went to see our grandson compete here. Good layout. Parking was convenient. Staff seemed on the ball.
Negative experience: The ladies dressing room is very, very dirty all the time. The floor, the sinks, are dirty, and the air vents on the ceiling are clogged from dust/dirt. Often small pieces of number two (poop) on the floor! Pretty often urine smell inside the dressing rooms and in the shallow water! Mold on the floor and walls! This is a disgusting place. Water is usually cold and lifeguard never say Hi!
Positive experience: If kids want to go here for open swim I suggest they go on Friday, that's when they have the wibbet out. Also they ladies locked room is VERY dirty, once I walked around the locker room without shoes on and a got a wart.

Thanks Loree! We love to hear that we are accommodating our diverse community!
Fantastic experience: Swimming lessons for my daughter was a wonderful experience there....everyone is nice
Fantastic experience: Super nice and helpful staff. Pool is a great temperature for exercising.
Fantastic experience: Great little community center for the kids to open swim
Fantastic experience: The fitness center is fantastic - not as busy as other places in town but nice, clean, and with a large variety of equipment in addition to their assortment of exercise classes. I just wish they had a membership option... At this time it is only pay-per-visit or punch card.
Fantastic experience: Best pool around. Staff are friendly. It's a fun time!
Fantastic experience: Excellent gym in a peaceful setting, favorite place to get a great workout
Fantastic experience: They have a great water aerobics program
Fantastic experience: The pool could definitely use some updating. I hear they are getting ready to do so. The womens locker room is nice but some of the showerheads do not work. Bring your own lock. It's a great place to go and have a swim or enjoy other activities. They have a gym. They have a class schedule of all the water stuff they offer online. Make sure you check it before heading there. Or else you might have to take a slow water aerobic class instead of the open swim you were hoping for.
Fantastic experience: Very nice local gym. The package deal is good with pool usage, classes, and gym use included. The pool facilities are a bit old, but are very well maintained. The gym is small, but extremely well equipped with modern equipment all around.
Fantastic experience: Nice people and fun things to do
Fantastic experience: Great place for kids parties.
Fantastic experience: I love to go swiming here!
Fantastic experience: Always tons of fun! My kids LOVE the swimming lessons & the instructors are great with them. I've recommended Fidalgo Pool to many of my friends.
Positive experience: Lots of fun
Positive experience: Not the best quality pool
Fantastic experience: Excellent gym in a peaceful setting, favorite place to get a great workout
Positive experience: This was my first time at this pool, at first I thought it was part of the elementary/high school nearby, the locker room is tiny and, dare I say, cute, lol.
Positive experience: It is a pretty nice and we'll managed pool for a small town. The lifeguards are especially courteous.
Negative experience: Nice pool but there hours for family swim are ridiculous and not very nice staff.
Positive experience: We went to the fitness center for a swim meet for children. The Spectator stands are all upstairs and are very hard and very difficult to see Lanes 1 and 2 from the seats. We had to stand up on our seats in order to see Lane too and if you wanted to see Lane one you had to go down to the fence and look straight down. It is also very hot and humid in the stands so I suggest taking a short sleeve shirt and dressing layered. We didn't go to anything else just the pool area.
Fantastic experience: Great group classes on land and in the pool!
Fantastic experience: Been going here for years, and the new gym can stand next to most any in its price (they did an outstanding job with the addition)! Prices are reasonable (monthly "All Access" cheaper than Thrive), the pool is a godsend for ppl like me recovering from combat injury/ptsd & even has a slide, dive board, rope swing & giant inflatable for the family evenings. Only con I can think of is that it hosts the county swim events so Call Ahead as days can be set aside for them; and the highschool team practices there, so it is jammed after 2pm sometimes. So glad to see the pool thriving to this day!
Fantastic experience: Great pool, well staffed and maintained. Reasonable prices.
Fantastic experience: A SUPER nice pool! Amazing to compete in!!
Fantastic experience: My kid loves to swim there and not always crowd
Fantastic experience: Love the pool!!
Fantastic experience: First of all, I love the water! Classes are the best. Tried many of them and chose one to go to regularly. All the instructors, like guards, and front desk people always brighten up your day. I love the pool and people so much it is hard to leave. I have MS and the pool is the only place I can exercise and not have problems. I have regained strength and some balance. It is an ongoing process and I enjoy it!
