The Gym @ Contagion Athletics

Fantastic experience: It's a great Gym. The only thing that they don't have that I've noticed really is an assisted pull-up machine and they don't have sweat towel service but I just take my own. Overall this gym is elite in Amarillo Texas.

Fantastic experience: Contagion is a beautiful gym. I’m visiting from California and wanted to get a quick workout in after work. I have to say there’s nothing like this in California and if there is, it would be miserable to get a work out in. Here I had the most fun workout of my life. Being in a clean facility with great members and staff really was the cherry on top. If I lived here, I would without a question buy a membership and take advantage of a place like this!

Fantastic experience: I Attended the West Texas Classic bodybuilding championship 2025. It was very enjoyable and professional, the show was a lot of fun and everybody that competed in it looked great and did a fantastic job. I went during my birthday and took my mom and then the environment was very welcoming and professional. I have never worked out at contagion but I was very amazed by the facility. I really enjoyed the artwork, the turf was ginormous. Didn't make my way upstairs but the track looked amazing and all the equipment looked state of the art. I really appreciate all the different events that the owners hold for the community here in Amarillo. I think with each event and each thing that they do, they bring something new and fresh as well as listening to feedback from the community. I highly recommend this place.

Fantastic experience: More than a gym...to me, Contagion Athletics is an elite sports training facility catering to every fitness level and busy "life" schedule of their clientele providing 24/7 access. The founder has invested in and continues to invest in state-of-the-art equipment...literally, there is something for EVERYONE including an indoor track and a training turf field! The addition of the recovery room featuring single-person saunas, a cold plunge, and massage chairs for those aching muscles is absolutely luxe. I realized this year that in order to reach my weight goal and improve my overall health, fitness, and strength that I needed to partner with one of their coaches. I needed someone to push me beyond my comfort zone, and Coach X who holds a Bachelor's in Sports and Exercise Science from WTAMU has done just that! I am super excited because I am only a week and a half in, and I am already seeing results as Coach X educates me on body mechanics and as he assists me in rebuilding and strengthening my body. The staff are super friendly, knowledgeable, and encouraging. They are more like Ohana than "staff." Love that the women's locker room has an inspirational Post-it quote vanity; so that as you see your reflection in the mirror, you are surrounded by all of these beautiful inspirational quotes that the women before you have left behind in order to lift others up. Fantastic experience: Awesome facility with all of the equipment that I needed to continue my workouts while traveling. Everything is new and functioning like new. 24 hrs access is a great benefit. Jaime was very polite, professional, and helpful. I noticed that he called every customer by name when they entered. Definitely recommend this place if you need a day pass while traveling or especially if you live in the area.

Fantastic experience: The gym is really nice, it’s clean, I like the graffiti on the walls it makes the gym stand out, the staffs are really cool. I come from Utah and this gym is definitely different then what we got out there, I like the atmosphere here and great for selfies.

Negative experience: They have flashy equipment but lack alot of the classic and basic gym equipment. The atmosphere is extremely sour and lacks any sort of sense of community. And not to mention their membership prices are ridiculously high

Fantastic experience: CA is absolutely the best gym in the Amarillo area, if you want a gym that has the highest quality facilities and equipment along with having a cafe to grab a drink or snack, a detail shop with a highly experienced detailer, and an owner that puts on huge events for the community, this is the gym for you. I have been going to Contagion Athletics for around 11 months and have never once had a “bad” experience, the desk staff is always friendly and ready to answer any questions you may have. I could not recommend this gym enough to anyone who is looking to better their physical health, whether it be weight lifting or just general mobility, CA has personal trainers that will help you accomplish your goals.

Positive experience: Good place to workout compared to other gyms in town. Left a bigger gym recently to join this one because there's not 10 broccoli heads standing around each piece of equipment. So the higher member price here is well worth being able to walk into the gym and get your workout done without having to wait on equipment. Only reason for the 4 stars is the owner is kind of push offish and the music is absolute garbage. Pretty sure their playlist is named "songs with the most cursing". Simple fixes by quit saying good morning and wear headphones.

Recently opened a recovery room, however I wish there was a steam room and more abdominal focused equipment. many people complain about the pricing, however this hasn’t been of concern to me since i’m on a cheaper student membership. these are just minor complaints though. overall would highly recommend

As someone who is just getting into personal fitness, it is definitely a welcoming and encouraging environment! The only gripe I have, if it can even be called one, is that they gotta start throwing some Crowbar or Hatebreed onto that gym playlist they got, the heavier music the better.

Positive experience: The gym is nice, but no hot tub, pool, or amenities like that. They just added a sauna/steam room. I like that they were not crowded, but you pay a premium for that. Overpriced for equipment you can get anywhere else. My main complaint is that the contract auto renewed and locks you into another year instead of going monthly after the first year with zero notifications. I tried to cancel membership about a month after the renew happened that I wasn't aware of via online chat, it said I had to call, so I did. The person I talked to said I would have to talk to a manager, that never called me back. I called back again a week or so later when I remembered and had to await for another call back. He called back the next day this time, but slightly argued about the renewal and tried to make me pay for the whole year for cancellation. After some discussion, they canceled for me. Keeping and eye on my bank account though since I was told last time that it would be no problem, but was continually charged. They did not offer to compensate for the lost months. Gym was nice, if simple, but not impressed with the service and policies.

Fantastic experience: Take your vehicles to CA autospa and talk to Ron! Hands down the best in town! Very professional, detailed, and will get the job done to your satisfaction! I took my truck there and he definitely made it look and smell brand new! I will definitely be back!

Fantastic experience: Out of all the gyms I've been to in Amarillo, this one is byfar the best! Great equipment, huge building and they utilize the space very well! There's so much that you really never have to wait on something to be available. & it's 24/7 which makes it better!! Nothing more irritating than having to wait till 9 for your gym to open on the weekends.

Positive experience: Honest Review! (Literally writing after my workout in the parking lot lol) PROS- First thing the gym is really chill and nice for the time slot i was working out. Barely anyone there nice and quiet with ALOT OF ROOM! 24/7 is amazing! So much equipment and exercise equipment to fit anyones needs. Has a decent cafe for pre and post workout nutrition. And a BARBERSHOP! (IF YOUR INTO THAT IN YOUR GYM NECESSITIES) Cons- PRICE!!! My next comments will go into why i disagree with the price… NO DAYCARE! This was a deal breaker for me. If you don’t have kids you’re clear. $80 for a single membership is kinda crazy considering the lack of fitness amenities. And that’s just the single membership excluding any fees. They have announced that a recovery center is on the way and that would honestly steer me toward being ok with the membership price. But once that recovery center is implemented the MEMBERSHIP WILL GO UP! ‍♂️ Lastly…BARBERSHOP! Lol it’s just a personal thing but a barbershop is unnecessary for MY gym needs. I feel that space could have been better utilized. All in all it is a very nice gym but not at a $80 single membership price point. Lack of amenities and daycare just kills any desire to spend that amount monthly.

Negative experience: They will not cancel you or subscription. I have asked them to cancel the membership 3 times over 3 months. They keep charging me, and they will not stop.

The price is fair with the knowledge that you are paying for a community of like-minded individuals who are there to better themselves. Fantastic experience: I haven't been this excited about a gym in over half a decade! They know some of the best brand names in the business, they are open 24/7, and it's no frills fitness; meet your goals. This place has it all: Rogue bumper plates/bumpers/pads, Texas Strength Deadlift Bars, Assault Runner Treadmills, Arsenal Plate Loaded Machines, Dedicated Dumbbell room (with mirrors), bouncy track, a glute room, a private posing room, cable machines, indoor turf with sleds, Row machines, Wind Bikes and more than I can continue to list. They are in a great location, plenty of parking, and have friendly members and staff. This place truly is the Mecca and feels like my new gym home. Thanks contagion, y'all are awesome. (Also they have a robot arm under the stairs, it hypes me up to lift harder.)
