Thrive Gym

Fantastic experience: Great gym. Owner is very communicative and was able to pause/cancel my membership as needed with very little hassle (just a quick email to the owner) which was amazing as a college student who had summer internships and is now moving from Iowa City. Worth the extra couple dollars a month compared to other Iowa City gyms especially with the great and clean amenities, friendly staff, and no annual or hidden fees.

Fantastic experience: The best gym in town. Open 24 hours. Stan is an awesome trainer as well.

Fantastic experience: Friendly environment, lots of great equipment for just about anything you could think of, and I especially like the private bathrooms/showers.

Fantastic experience: this gym has equipment that is difficult to find anywhere else and goes above the expectations for a commercial gym great for powerlifting and has some strongman equipment too very well put together and layed out , overall great experience

Positive experience: I was trying to sign up online and it was buggy and not working. I ended up having to call and spoke to Stan. He helped me get signed up very fast and easy. Thanks for the help! Also, I have been here before. Super nice and roomy facility with a nice sauna.

Positive experience: Excellent location! Easy to sign up! Open 24hrs! More than enough equipment! Sauna! No contract! The ONLY reason I didn't give 5 stars is the music volume overnight. I can't even hear my own headphones it's so loud... I have asked multiple times for the staff to please lower it. I will revise my review if this happens, but I definitely recommend this gym

Fantastic experience: The BEST gym I’ve ever been apart of! This gym is kept so clean and has everything I could want, including free lockers and massive private bathrooms. All of the staff I’ve interacted with has been so friendly and kind. I feel very at home here. Coming to thrive has become the best part of my day! I can’t recommend this place enough!!

Fantastic experience: I live out of town and every time I come to Iowa City to visit family I drop in at Thrive. Cleanest gym I’ve ever been to, smart equipment choices, good layout. Also plenty of space to get your workout in even if there are several other people there at the same time. Visiting or a resident I recommend Thrive Gym!

Negative experience: I am very disappointed as I previously heard very positive things about this gym and I was hoping to become a member. Unfortunately, I’ve been hearing there has been an increase in racist actions, lack of valuing employees, and a decrease in classes due to wrestling mats/lack of ability to use equipment. I started at Performance in North Liberty and their classes are great and it feels so much more inclusive.

But other than that; friendly staff, top notch eqipment and a general positive attitude (both from management and patrons) are the best things about this gym. Also I believe being a woman-owned, women-managed establishment is behind all this

Fantastic experience: This gym has tons to offer, from a video "teacher" room with lots to choose from, to a sauna, they have tires, regular and inclined monkey bars, different types of treadmills, lots of different weights and machines, stair steppers, a boxing class, a smoothie bar witb protine available to add, and other things i don't even know what to call. Would recommend.

Fantastic experience: This place is the best! The trainers are understanding, the owner and management is dedicated and local and they always go above and beyond! This place is better then any other gym I have been to! The equipment and style of the gym are by far more uptodate then any place!

Fantastic experience: Great gym, abundant equipment, open space and excellent staff. It's nice to have private bathrooms to change/shower and many lockers for use at no extra cost. The cleaning staff keeps the whole facility very clean and immaculate. There are tires to flip, peg boards to climb, many benches, squat racks, sand bags, sleds, free weights and more. If you're looking to do some light training, heavy lifting, yoga classes, boxing, group training, personal training - this is the place for you. I've been to 5 other gyms in the area and this one beats them all. They do not serve pizza or donuts but they do have a pretty good smoothie bar

Fantastic experience: The saddest part of moving away from Iowa City was leaving Thrive Gym. I love this place and all the people in it. They have amazing equipment and Lowkey the nicest showers. I hit my fitness goals and more!

Fantastic experience: Never crowded with all the equipment you could want. It is always clean and organized, and everyone's resepctful.

Negative experience: Ripped me off on my credit card and had to keep calling to get reimbursed...watch your charges!

Fantastic experience: So far this is the only gym I have stayed long in. My trainer Brooke is amazing. Each time I leave after training with her I feel so good and excited to go home and run for at least 20 minutes. I’m really hype to keep training with her and at thrive gym!!

Fantastic experience: This gym rocks! Tina and Marsha are the bomb! The entire staff is super friendly and the gym is always very clean. Tons of free classes and coaches are available for just about everything you could imagine. The price is very competitive with everyone in the area but you get far more bang for your buck! Would highly recommend for anyone looking to get away from the insanely crowded gyms downtown Iowa City. Smoothies rock!

Positive experience: I look for a wide selection of resources to aid my training for conditioning, power, strength, speed, and fun. Thrive gym offers exactly that equipment tailored to your specific workout. It is not just equipment, it is good and well maintained equipment. I did mention fun because when the iron starts to get boring, you can refresh the gains on new activities such as the peg board, the hanging ladders, boxing, dancing, and much more provided in an organized space all for you. When everything is done for the day, Thrive offers clean and modern/homey personal bathrooms to clean up, and on the way out you can choose from a wide selection of smoothies with or without protein to finish a great day at Thrive.

Fantastic experience: I felt like a kid in a candy store with the variety of gym equipment and comfort of the atmosphere. Will certainly be back and can't wait to try their delicious smoothies again!!

Fantastic experience: The equipment at this gym is incredible. There are single stall bathrooms for privacy, the bench press equipment could be used at powerlifting meets. They even have boxing and ninja warrior type stuff. I can't believe the price!

Fantastic experience: Bruce is the best trainer I have ever worked with. The workouts keep changing & challenging me. He also is big on form & will teach you to avoid injury & help heal old injuries.

Fantastic experience: I went to Thrive for a workout session, and it was a great experience! It was a refreshing contrast from the university gym, which typically features wait times and little interaction. Bruce worked with me to find a challenging workout that fit my skill level. I learned about which workouts were effective to counteract long hours at a desk, and the proper form to exercise safely. It was a really positive experience. I felt tired, accomplished, and motivated to do more. I appreciated the low energy use, there weren't a ton of ellipticals running and people watching TV with headphones in. I learned to use resistance bands and LOVED the self paced treadmill. Thrive Gym has a great positive vibe and an unintimidating approach that is suitable and and challenging for any fitness level.

Fantastic experience: Awesome gym!! Coralville was a halfway meet up point for me and a friend, we got Hurts donuts then headed here to get a lift in. The gym is super nice, and the owner was so helpful!! wI'll definitely be back.
