La Alma Recreation Center: Opinions

Fantastic experience: Awesome place to be!!!
Fantastic experience: Nice and clean.. lifeguards very attentive !
Negative experience: The rec center part seems to be nice, but that pool smh unless you’re okay with hearing a whole bunch of kids cussing, sounding like they have no home training- I wouldn’t come here. The first and last time I went, kids were cussing non stop in the pool, outside the pool and around the pool- also, a parent came to get their children, but instead of waking in like a normal human, they just blew their horn over and over while being ignored by their kids that never acknowledged her & kept swimming!!!!!!! Not a place where I would take my three year old again, but if you don’t mind a little “ghetto behavior” , loud cussing from minors and parents to lazy to get out and get their kids “ this would be a cool spot to come too I suppose !
Fantastic experience: We came for the swimming pool had a great time and cooled down the lifeguards are nice and friendly we had a blast

Fantastic experience: Nice place.
Positive experience: Great place and conveniently located
Positive experience: Nice park. Several amenities. Small skate park. Playground. Restrooms in community center. A couple homeless residents
Fantastic experience: 1st time there nice and clean good place to take the kids good price for adults
Positive experience: I think that it was cool but the only thing that I don't like about it is that the water slide is only open for 15 minutes but other than that its really fun.
Positive experience: Friendly staff
Fantastic experience: Great price and location. The gym equipment is really nice too. I wish they had workout classes and art classes! Maybe soon.
Fantastic experience: History
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, community involvement. Hours aren’t ideal but great being in the neighborhood
Fantastic experience: Hung With Karmen

Positive experience: They have lots of places to shop
Positive experience: nice
Fantastic experience: Need to open
Fantastic experience: Great place. Every Sunday the place is rented out and turned into Cornerstone Church. Family oriented. I love Sunday service there.
Fantastic experience: That Park used to be cool even for the children but today drug dealers and fighting drunks homeless kind of really messed up that park with the children playing in the park our eyes have to be fast on them because there's so many things going on around that park now it is growing around so is that Park safe for children anymore?
Fantastic experience: Very cool place. I highly recommend you visit!
Fantastic experience: Park is well kept. Good Job Park Rangers.
Fantastic experience: Love going here with my kids in the summer
Fantastic experience: This is my rec from times past. So welcoming. And there's 2 adjacent courts outside with the famous pool. It's certainly a mainstay and definitely worth the hours of fun offered. At least three professional sized fields, work out equipment and two jungle gyms!
Fantastic experience: It's really cheap. It's $1 for kids and $3 for adults.
Fantastic experience: Home
Fantastic experience: It's a grate place to bring your kids.
Fantastic experience: Loved the pool area. The deep pool is 12 and 1/2 feet deep, with a full size spring diving board. Also in the kids pool there is a water slide and a whirl pool area. The actual building is good as well.
Negative experience: There’s someone sleeping on your park
Positive experience: Very friendly staff
Positive experience: Place had a very strange vibe to it. I think I will stick to Rude center down the block.
Positive experience: Came here for a self defense classes offered by the DPD. It was awesome! The rec staff were really kind. Awesome to see how the neighborhood has become quite nice too!
Negative experience: Pool seems nice but I'll never know because the management used a telescope to spot lightning somewhere over Utah and deemed that as good evidence to close the pool and resume jerking off.
Positive experience: If you ain't got your hood card, don't bother. Trust me. Other then that we ball over here. There's a very large weight room. Plus the staff is great. It's a very good community center. Everytime I go they're feeding people, who need fed. Keep up the good work La Alma.
Negative experience: Weight room equipment is barely maintained. staff just sits there and chats all day. They did not try to break up a fight I was having with a psycho. I'm not coming back because this place is trash compared to the rec centers up north east.
Negative experience: Absolutely disgusting how the manager of this place (last name Medina) treats the kids that go in there. This is supposed to be a safe place for children and that creep followed and 11 and 9 year old talking stuff as if he was going to fight them. What a poor excuse for a man. I’d be ashamed if I raised a man to be like that.
Positive experience: Went here last summer with my daughter and she is counting down the days until the pool opens again this year. It's small, but great for younger kids and there is a deep pool also for adults and older kids. The water temperature was good and not too cold, and the facilities are clean. The staff and lifeguards were very friendly and helpful.
Fantastic experience: Small but great
Fantastic experience: I love the prices and my son absolutely loved it. Thanks for the great time we will definitely be back
Fantastic experience: Cool lil halfpipe to warm up vert
Fantastic experience: Nice place
Fantastic experience: Home
Positive experience: Fun
Positive experience: Clean
Fantastic experience: Home
Positive experience: Used to be great, family-like, but everyone is gone now :(
Positive experience: Needs new equipment but great customer service.
Positive experience: Great place to hang out in the park and enjoy the sunshine. There seems to be a good community presence here with lots of families with kids.
Negative experience: Very sad that such a nice neighborhood pool is out of control with bad behavior. My sons and I have gone to this pool the last three years and it has progressively gotten worse each summer. Today in the span of one hour there we over heard at least 3 people wanting to get into fights, talk of gang affiliations, drug deals and overall crude language. We ended up having to leave earlier then planned because of violent threats from other patrons when we tried to help their injured child. It is not family friendly and it is dangerous. I hope the city takes note and makes this facility safe and accessible for all citizens!!!
Positive experience: This is My local gym, Squat racks are nice, barbell bench is meh, all other pieces are new and nice, replaced in June of 2017. Plates and clips Arent great, a mix of old and older. Hours are not great. I suppose that’s to be expected given the limited number of people using the facility. to be expected for intended use of the facility-- lots of kids using the place, that’s cool.Membership is by far the cheapest in the neighborhood. Worth paying if you are looking for a decent weight selection, some cables, and a adjustable squat cage. The big guys up front are kind enough - they don’t really do or say much. Except when someone is deadlifting, they’ll comment about that.
Fantastic experience: Great weight room and terrific customer service
Fantastic experience: Love this place
Negative experience: Rude why are u staring at me like that if I'm a member
Negative experience: I walked in after checking out the park outside. My 6 year old needed to use the bathroom. We were both denied access as "there are no public restrooms." What?? I asked again. The excuse was drug addicts use the bathroom so they are trying to stop that. I told him I am a 58 year old man with a 6 year old that needs to use the bathroom and I am not a drug addict. I was again denied.
