The gym is particularly noted for its cleanliness and friendly staff, making it a pleasant environment for workouts.

Gruber Fitness Center: Opinions

Fantastic experience: Well stocked free weight and Hammer Strength equip, large cross fit area as well as a large open gym, fully stocked with good well maintained equip. Early morning and late afternoon times visited were not busy at all.
Positive experience: It’s a gym, old and screaming for an update but it works as intended
Fantastic experience: Clean, 24hrs service (just get the access card for $10) really enjoy this gym especially after hours is practically empty and I have the whole gym for me
Fantastic experience: Awesome sized gym with a great selection of free weights machines and a dedicated cross fit area
Negative experience: You like saunas? Don’t worry it’ll be broken for 6 months. They make up for it with 24 hour access… that won’t work and you’ll be locked out during the only time you can work out. The place is filthy. The only locker room that is half decent is closed every single night so you can’t use it (because of some stupid reason I’m sure). The other locker room you nearly break your ankle going into and the lights are always off with an impossible to find light switch. But hey at least they have good ac… oh wait they don’t. They turn it off every single night so in the summer you get to work out in a sauna.
Fantastic experience: Great facility! Thank you, Lawrence, for making the 24-hour signing-up an easy process!
Positive experience: Could use some deeper cleaning but that’s the only critique I have. Equipment is in good shape. Plenty of treadmills and lifting equipment is up to date within a few years. Over all pretty nice for a military gym
Fantastic experience: Love this gym! Very spacious.
Fantastic experience: If you have access to the facility on base, it's the best fitness center around. Plenty of weights and machines to accommodate any individual of any level. Never had a bad moment. The 24 hr access is definitely a plus.
Fantastic experience: Great place it being 24/7 is real accesible for any type of work schedule
Fantastic experience: Great gum
Fantastic experience: Great gym.
Negative experience: A nice facility with nice equipment completely ruined by abysmal hours and a wretched after-hours system. You have to set up an appointment to get after-hours access. Annoying but doable. But this insane process of kicking everyone out of the gym at 1750, just so they can sign back in one at a time renders this place a burden. You are better served finding non-government resource. The Army fails its soldiers again.
Positive experience: Decent gym with plenty of equipment. I gave three stars because it closes too early. How does a main gym close an hour and a half after people are released from work? That does not make any sense to me, especially when the gym was still crowded and the employee was having to kick people out. Update: 15 Jul 2024. No change.
Positive experience: Equipment is great. Cleanliness is not. Lots of hair over the floors, mats, and around the machines.
Fantastic experience: Nice cool
Fantastic experience: 24/7 access to fitness and great equipment. What's not to love? This place is great with it's cardio, free weights, and functional fitness areas.
Fantastic experience: This is my go-to gym on base! It may look old on the outside, but don’t let it deceive you because the equipment is new and this place has everything you need! Staff are always friendly and willing to help if needed. The locker rooms are a little out of date but the staff make sure it’s as clean as possible. It can get pretty crowded during lunch time, but I have seen a lot worse. There is no pool at this location, but they do have a lot of equipment for heavy lifting and those people who like to do that CrossFit stuff. Even though I always wear my own headphones it would be nice if they had some music playing every day for those random days I forget mine. Other than that this place is a great spot to get your lift on!
Fantastic experience: This is the best gym with awesome equipment. The vibe is a big part of why I go.
Fantastic experience: Lots of weights very clean
Fantastic experience: Go here 4-6 days a week, busy from 1600-1900, but good place
Positive experience: It’s a little old but other than that it’s a gym.
Fantastic experience: 24/7 with registration, better then what you expect from an mwr gym
Fantastic experience: Great gym! Plenty of squat racks and equipment
Fantastic experience: Not as big as the other gym but nice
Fantastic experience: Amazing Staff, Great Equipment Disabled Marine Veteran
Positive experience: Solid gym with plenty of equipment and space. Lacks adequate water stations so make sure you bring a water bottle.
Fantastic experience: Fabulous weights and equipment! Plenty of room. Friendly people. Highly recommended!
Fantastic experience: Great gym, never feels overly busy. Always clean with a lot of options.
Fantastic experience: 24 hour access. Have to get an appointment so sign up. That's right, you can CGSC / ILE and still PT at 0100
Positive experience: This is a decent facility with great, brand new equipment in the main strength conditioning area. It's also nice they gave the CrossFitters their own area so we don't have to watch their nonsense. My only complaint is that the front men's room is always disgusting and smells like urine constantly. There are so many O3s running around... Grab a few of them and have them clean the latrines if the staff aren't going to do it. There's usually a couple of them in the latrines taking pictures of themselves anyway, so might as well make them useful.
Fantastic experience: Best gym in the Army. Period. And that’s coming from a career of SOF gyms.
Positive experience: This is a great facility. Some of the equipment is a little dated but the team works to maintain it as best they can. The policy to clear out at closing time and then swipe back in for after hours access doesn't make a ton of sense though. If the staffed hours will a little bit longer in the evening then it may not be as big of a problem. This really most impacts those that come TDY for a short timeframe.
Fantastic experience: The hours are listed incorrectly for Gruber Fitness Center. Here are the correct hours: Monday-Friday 0500-2200 Saturday and Sunday 0800-1800
Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff! Kim’s class was killer but a great variety of workouts. The staff were extremely nice and helpful!
Positive experience: People are great. Equipment needs updating.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff! Kim’s class was killer but a great variety of workouts. The staff were extremely nice and helpful!
Positive experience: Very nice gym. Clean. Plus there's a running track in front of the building.
Negative experience: When I got there this morning the water had been off for over 24 hours. The commodes were all full.. Employees were without drinking water or bathroom facilities. The sign on the door said no water until further notice. There was no water to clean up an accident. I called the Garrison commander's office and the water was back on within an hour. Thank you for such quick action on the part of the Garrison commander's office. But I do not think employees should have been made made to work in a building with no water for all day yesterday. And if I hadn't called the Garrison commander's office who knows how long that situation would have gone on.
Negative experience: Please open the gym back up for regular hours like before the pandemic! Best option for military dependents who can't afford a full gym membership. Currently the hours can't be utilized by people who work 8-5 M-F
Positive experience: Today's the first time I've been in two plus years since the mask mandate was lifted this week. Great resource, equipment, etc but hours NEED to get back to normal. Closing at 1700 and 1800 is not helpful for much of anyone. I would happily take advantage of the 24/7 access option but I don't have a CAC any longer. I haven't used the bikes pictured but is a great brand and a nicer version of what I did use at a YMCA. They do have SPD pedals. The tread next to the elliptical is very loud, I'm wondering if all three are older/on the way out.
Fantastic experience: Awesome place for ACFT prep!
Positive experience: Would be 5 stars if you didn't have to wear mask while working out.
Positive experience: Meh
Positive experience: I've been to this gym for about a week and it's never too packed to get a workout in, even during regular PT hours. As far as Army post gyms go, this one is better then average with plenty of room, weights and machines. The facility itself, and a portion of the equipment, is showing its age, but does not prevent one from getting a good solid workout in. (Physical Fitness uniforms are NO LONGER required between 0630-0800 for all active duty SMs)
Fantastic experience: Favorite place to workout
Fantastic experience: One of my favorite gyms!
Fantastic experience: Lots of choices
Fantastic experience: Good gym with a lot of equipment
Positive experience: Good but not enough cable machines.
Fantastic experience: Excellent facilities. Very clean, social distancing and masks enforced.
Positive experience: Enjoy going here, easy access to the machines. courteous staff.
Positive experience: It's good, but it can use some minor improvements.
Fantastic experience: Excellent facilities. Very clean, social distancing and masks enforced.
Positive experience: Great little gym with a good mix of free weights, machines and cardio equipment.
Fantastic experience: Plenty of room an equipment to use.
Fantastic experience: Best kept secret in Kansas
Fantastic experience: Gruber checks all the boxes as far as fitness amenities: cardio, free weights, dedicated functional fitness room with sled and kettlebells, etc. It does get crowded in the morning around 0530 to 0700 during unit PT. The staff is very accommodating and courteous.
Fantastic experience: Excellent facility, a lot of quality equipment, and plenty of space to exercise
Fantastic experience: Very spacious, all the amenities, very clean!
Positive experience: Good place to lift free weights
Negative experience: Sad and outdated.. is this base really this broke
Positive experience: Didn't really visit this place.
Positive experience: Allot room and equipment. Need to fix TVs on cardio machines
Positive experience: Always packed no matter what time you go. good equipment.
Fantastic experience: Nice clean facility with free weights. Great Sauna
Positive experience: Top notch workout area got every machine to get you into shape.
Positive experience: Equipment is varied and relatively good condition. They have some challenges with getting the staff to do anything (with the notable exception of John).
Fantastic experience: Nice clean facility with free weights. Great Sauna
Fantastic experience: By far best gym in the Army!
Fantastic experience: Nice place to do exercise
Fantastic experience: A great place to workout. Modern equipment and great staff.
Fantastic experience: Love this gym. Wish all army gyms were like this one. Machines, free weights, aerobics room and a functional fitness room. Something for every fitness enthusiast
Fantastic experience: Great gym! They have everything you need and the staff is great.
Fantastic experience: Excellent small moderate size gym. Never overcrowded, plenty of Nautilus equipment and free weights. There were only two Bosu balls and no soft mats that I could find. But there a nice climbing rock wall and excellent fitness classes that are offered.
Fantastic experience: I had to reedit my rating after going to the gym a few times to get a feel for it. Compared to other gyms, this one can't be beat for the variety of gear it posesses. From the multiple free weight and machines available, to the TRX scaffolding, climbing wall, and multiple squat racks, you won't get bored here. Plenty of cardio from bikes to treadmillls, Jacobs ladders and several concept2 rowing machines. Several cardio rooms for spin and other classes. There is a running track out front if you want some afresh air. Theyn have two masseuses available by reservation. Several clean shower facilities and a suana to boot. Like any other gym, it does fill up on occasion when CGSC ramps up with the Iron Majors getting in shape. Best part, as we are all professionals, you don't deal with the negative roid heads you'll find in commercial gyms who hog the gear. If your a CrossFit'er, you'll need to go to the Harney Gym clamshell to do your thing. Everyone knows we are in there to be our best - as one day we may need to be in our best shape to help out the guy/gal on the machine next to us. Don't worry, you don't have to be in your PT uniform with saftey belt to enter either.
Fantastic experience: Variety of different machines and classes
Fantastic experience: It is a lovely place to go. I go here because I am not included at my gym at school when it comes to powerlifting workouts since I'm quite weak and slow. I decided to go here with my dad and they have everything a powerlifter needs! Squat racks, benches, bar bells,DB's,trap bars and, more. They also have lots of bikes, treadmills, ladder climbers, ellipticals and, a bunch of other equipment out in the main area that looks helpful but I have no idea how to use them. As a sixteen year old I get dissaproving looks here and there but, adults and militants will feel welcomed. Try it out, clean, warm (literally) and, lots of equipment.
Fantastic experience: I love this gym. There's equipment and classes for everyone, regardless your preference. The functional fitness area is new and well-equipped.
Fantastic experience: Has great workout machines all up to date, and has great equipment overall, has a racquet ball room and has things like racquet balls, weight belts, bands, etc. At your disposal. The staff is very nice and friendly. The gym also has lockers and showers at your disposal (you just have to bring your own lock) their is soap in the shower as well.
Negative experience: Dirty
Negative experience: Smells muggy..like a hot dirty jock strap!
Fantastic experience: Very welcoming staff. And the place is always clean.
Positive experience: Polite, courteous staff. Older facilities but plenty of equipment.
Positive experience: I'd like to see more machines along with the free weights. It's a bit crowded as well it'd be nice if the building was expanded.
Positive experience: Really cool functional fitness annex. Good locker rooms.
Positive experience: Not bad. They has free WiFi for an hour. Log in as guest.
Positive experience: Excellent gym. The only way it could be better is if it were an Air Force gym.
Fantastic experience: Love this gym. Wish all army gyms were like this one. Machines, free weights, aerobics room and a functional fitness room. Something for every fitness enthusiast
Fantastic experience: Very welcoming staff. And the place is always clean.
Fantastic experience: All you need for a great work out.
Fantastic experience: So I will start by saying I changed my stars. I give this gym 5 stars because of the overwhelming ability for the staff to accommodate special requests within hours. Example, "Oh darn it! Can I do this in 10 min?" Management and Staff "yes" The staff is positive, polite and respectful and the manager has been a huge help organizing events across the installation requiring their facilities. Easily the best Gym I have been to in the Army! Thanks Gruber Gym!
Fantastic experience: Good mix of equipment and it's always clean. staff is friendly. one of the best base gyms iv ever been to.
Fantastic experience: Great gym. Awesome equipment and never TOO busy
Fantastic experience: A+
Fantastic experience: Wonderful fitness center and staff
Positive experience: Allot equipment and room, clean gym
Positive experience: Great on post gym
Positive experience: Crowded. Equipment is pretty decent, on par with any mid-sized global gym.
