Fantastic experience: Keana (sorry if I misspelled) is by far the best thing about any Mountainside location. I’ve been to them all(minus Avondale and Surprise) at opening hours.. Typically in a line of people waiting at the door for 430 to hit. She is the only person I’ve ever experienced that gets to work and just opens the front door. When you work early in the morning that extra 15 minutes is everything so it really helps. Plus she keeps everything stocked and somehow at 415 has an upbeat attitude. Other locations should take note. I know a lot of us talk about it and some tell you, but on behalf of us all, thank you. Something so simple benefits a ton of people. And you’re great with the kids in the daycare. She should really just manage the place. :). Holly’s great too! Always been super nice and accommodating when I used to go to the greenfield location as a guest when I first moved here. Her kindness was one reasons I chose to even get the membership. Between you two ladies that place is in good hands.

Negative experience: After almost two years as a member, I canceled my membership after a passive-aggressive interaction with management (blonde hair woman). I was made aware of the gym’s no-filming policy while recording my workout. I’ve been recording since I became a member, so if it was really an issue it should’ve been addressed from day one—not a year and some change later. Despite this, I was told I couldn’t record while other members were actively recording and taking photos throughout the gym. When I asked why, the manager said, “everyone talks and complains about you,” and was smiling ear to ear when I mentioned canceling. As a Black woman, the selective enforcement and tone used by the manger made me uncomfortable. This is a warning to content creators: this gym is not the place to capture your progress or express yourself. I hope management trains staff on respectful communication so members don’t feel targeted or unwelcome.

Fantastic experience: Love love love this mountainside. They take such good care of the babies. Every other gym closes in the afternoon. As a momma of 4 I need flexibility and that often means 1pm or 2pm workouts. It also is nice because you get to go during non peak hours which makes it less likely your child gets sick. It’s nice to have that option especially With a newborn.

Positive experience: Why can't these people update their hours on Google when there's a holiday? It's the same thing every holiday. Every other business seems to be able to do this, but the people at Mountainside can't seem to figure it out. They also seem to have trouble figuring out how to replace the filter on the water fountains when the light is red.

Fantastic experience: Our family joined Mountainside Fitness mainly for the childcare, and as a homeschooling mom, that feature is a big deal—attempting to get some space in order to take care of myself can be tricky. My oldest can be out on the gym floor with me, but my younger three need a safe, consistent space to be while I get a workout in. We rotate between three locations, and from a childcare perspective, Ocotillo is hands-down my favorite. The childcare staff there is excellent, and Faith is truly the best. She knows my kids by name, is warm and welcoming, and somehow manages to help my toddler feel comfortable being separated from me for 45 minutes twice a week. She genuinely seems to enjoy her job, and it shows. The Gilbert location is larger and has a nicer locker room setup (red light, cold plunge, and other amenities), and my 9-year-old likes some of the activities the childcare staff set up (for the older kids). But I’ve had to cut my workout short multiple times because my toddler “needed snuggles,” which makes it hard to relax and commit to going there regularly. The Ahwatukee location has kind childcare staff as well, and I’ve never had to retrieve my toddler early from them—so it’s a solid second choice. Overall: Ocotillo is #1 for childcare, Ahwatukee is #2, and Gilbert is #3 (even though the facilities are great). For families like ours, it really comes down to having childcare staff who genuinely enjoy kids and are good with them.

Fantastic experience: This gym is awesome, the staff is very kind and welcoming and the members here are all friendly! Many of the trainers are super knowledgeable and JD at the front desk is a great employee!!

Positive experience: Semi-crowded neighborhood gym feel with middle of the road equipment suitable for all skill levels. Often broken or damaged machines on any day keeps you moving and sharing. That said, there’s just enough equipment for the crowd size on most days. Classes are offered and accessible (yoga, etc) and have had decent/average experience in the classes attended. Overall a good middle of the road gym based on three to four days a week the last year.

Fantastic experience: All of the staff are amazing. However, if your looking for a place for child care during your workout the staff here are the best and will hands down treat your child like their own. Faith is always here when our son is here and she is amazing. The cost is nothing compared to the care you get.

Positive experience: JD is great. He was very helpful when I got an injury and was really good on top of things. He always greets us with a smile and is super pleasant.The staff is very friendly. However, several pieces of equipment are in need of repair (rips and tears, other malfunctions) and it typically takes a while to get things fixed.

Fantastic experience: The childcare alone is reason to join this gym! Faith & Olivia are my 5 sons’ favorite people they beg to go to the gym everyday!

Fantastic experience: Mountainside Fitness – Excellent Experience** I’ve had a great experience at Mountainside Fitness, especially working with my personal trainer, **Loralee**. She has been wonderful — very knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely attentive to my arthritic knees. Since starting with her, I’ve seen a noticeable improvement in my leg strength, flexibility, and overall energy. Her personalized approach has made a big difference for me. The gym itself is clean and well-maintained, and the staff are consistently responsive, professional, and respectful. I also really appreciate that the **sauna and steam rooms are clean and fully functional**. One area of improvement would be to have **more massage chairs** available and to ensure that all of them are working. Overall, the environment is positive and the members are respectful of each other’s space. I highly recommend this gym — and especially Loralee — to anyone looking for a supportive and effective fitness experience.

Fantastic experience: I like going to this gym because it has a diverse demographics and has spacious area to workout. My personal trainer, Loralee Chrestler is awesome!!! She structured my program workout each time we have training together. She has introduced me to different machines and exercises suited to my needs. It’s never a dull moment working out with her. I highly recommend Loralee as a personal trainer.

Negative experience: These guys will not allow you to cancel your membership online or even over the phone. They force you to come in. That's unethical and anti consumer, cannot support that. Update - Responding to message below: You could earn 5 stars by allowing customers to cancel online or over the phone. It's a shady practice to make it difficult for customers to cancel. It's a desperate, bad look for your company. I'll update the review if you guys make this available.

Negative experience: I've been member of this gym for 20+ years and generally love it. However, there's been a noticeable decline in the last 6 months that I hope gets addressed soon. Seems there used to be someone cleaning almost non-stop. No longer the case and it shows. Machines are dirty and locker room is even worse. The amount and duration of broken equipment is another concern. Machines used to be fixed in a matter of days. No more. Both of the massage chairs are broken (one in a good way in that there is no time limit). Sad because I pay extra for unlimited use and can longer find an empty chair. There are too many treadmills and not enough Precor Ellipticals with handles (I've provided this feedback to management multiple times). They get constant use and 2 of the 5 are presently broken though still operable. The elevation function does not work! As the hefty annual equipment fee levied every September nears, I'm hoping to see more Ellipticals and the broken equipment fixed. I'd love to see this facility returned to the way it once was otherwise perhaps it's time to shop for a new gym. MSF can do better than this! I've seen it!!

Positive experience: EDIT: I'd like to update my review and say that I have noticed that they've been A LOT better about having people clean around the gym, and they got new towels and are keeping the locker rooms refreshed. Kudos to the team! Thank you for taking action! The only thing keeping from 5 stars is that there are some nasty people that don't wipe down their equipment when they are done. I know that isnt necessarily the gyms fault, but maybe post some signs saying to wipe down your equipment when you are done or something.

Positive experience: The mountainside on alma school in Chandler has really gone down hill. I’ve been a paying member of this gym for years & it has become disgustingly filthy. Most of the equipment was there when I started 10 years ago. Now we have 3 stair steppers down 2 for the last month. This leaves 3 to choose from with several individuals on them for over an hour at a time. When you can finally get on the machines they are saturated with sweat because they aren’t being cleaned. I would ask that these machine be regulated more closely, repaired, cleaned, & a 1/2 hr time limit at least while the other machines are not working. This is my favorite gym but it needs a lot of work.

Negative experience: Annoying that I'm sold a membership on being able to do one inbody scan per month with my tier membership then out of no where now only premium plus can use it.

Negative experience: Facility is staffed by teenagers that look like they hate their job. Called to cancel my membership was only told I had to come in in person to cancel and then was told I have to come it before 8 pm after I had already wasted time and gas money to get there. Gym charges way too much for the limited equipment. Very frustrated do not recommend to anyone.

Positive experience: This has been my home gym for the last couple of years. I do enjoy it, but improvements need to be made in the near future. There are a lot of older machines that need updating. Love the sauna and steam room but typically a bit dirty. Also, there is a continuous black mold in the showers. This needs to be addressed.

Fantastic experience: When I go to regular gym, also take muay thai at Chandler mma but not been in awhile, I typically come here or vasa. Use vasa to swim. I use a benefit through my health insurance to access various gyms. But I do like coming and using gym here.

Positive experience: This is an awesome facility with great people in it, however, there are a few things that irritate me. The sauna in this facility is like the best Sauna in the world, however, it has to be working for that to be the case obviously. Why is the sauna not working/broken about 20% of the time I try to use it? There are times where I literally drive to the gym just to use the sauna, only for it to not be working, and have to head home. Drank so much water to prepare for it, drove there and back, waited for it to heat up and barely got past room temp; I've literally wasted hours of my life because of how often this happens. I also feel like the workers slack on their duties. I shouldn't have to walk all the way across the gym to get a sanitation wipe to wipe down my cardio equipment. There are sanitation wipe dispensers everywhere, but almost all of them are empty at all times. There is also way too often an extreme lack of towels. Finally, they slack with regards to restocking toilet paper. People shouldn't have to check multiple stalls just to find one with toilet paper. All of these things are constant issues, this is not even remotely close to only being one time or just a handful of times. If they could do these simple things, and get the sauna to function properly, the gym would be so much better. Plus, the ro water system has been broken for like 3 months and they havent fixed it!!! How have you not fixed it in that amount of time. Completely unacceptable and ridiculous.

Fantastic experience: My heart was broken after the 202 and Val Vista location moved to Gilbert and the 202.. BUT I live on the 202 and Germann anyways and I am in LOVE with this gem on Alma School and honestly the great old school equipment is awesome ! BUT I really came here to leave a review for the child care girls they are so sweet and Jaylen loves coming to daycare here.. they are so kind , welcoming and I feel so at home with them and it’s always positive , great conversation and Jaylen is ALWAYS accounted for.. thank you so much you guys ALSO the front desk always says hi, always is focused on the customer even while conversing with there staff! I use to run a gym and those relationships are important so I think the dynamic here is awesome !! keep it up guys you ALL rock!

Fantastic experience: This Mountainside Fitness location is clean, has various equipment to use, and the staff is very friendly and professional. I love bringing my son to the KidsClub here as well! The girls who work at the KidsClub are nice, caring, and compassionate. This is an all around good gym!

Negative experience: Had a bad experience with the personal training. Was not as consistent as I had hoped for and felt like my time could be used elsewhere. Not only that I found out that the personal training auto renews even though it could be a few days or weeks before you can work out with the personal trainer, felt like I was the one pushing the trainer to have to push me. It felt very much like I was working out with a friend as opposed to a trainer since they don’t encourage or motivate you, overpriced training for what it’s worth, definitely recommend taking your money elsewhere

Negative experience: I wouldn’t recommend the personal training as it’s too costly for the services received. They set the expectation that you’ll have someone consistent to make sure you’re achieving your workout goals but it’s more spontaneous with random workouts which result in no real progress made. Additionally they misinform you about how the personal training works by doing 3,6,9 month plans but don’t disclose that you have to manually cancel as otherwise they’ll continue charging. Even after bringing the issue up with the manager Sterling Davis and after mentioning that they failed to disclose this, this still refused to issue the refund. They skim over the contract details during sign up to make you sign up without disclosing the fine print. Additionally, I had filled out a cancellation request that they conveniently didn’t have. Waste of money and a waste of time.

Negative experience: Are you guys serious?! I just moved back to the area and I was so excited to go back to Mountainside Val Vista. It was the only gym like it. It felt like you were working out at a spa at a resort in Hawaii. When I went to the new building over on Gilbert Road, I wanted to cry… literally. The guy told me that I could still go over to the Alma school one because it was still cozy. IT LOOKS JUST LIKE THE STERILE ONE AT GILBERT NOW!! What the heck is going on??? I don’t understand why you would change the reason people joined your gym. There are so many gyms that are big white rooms with tons of lights and sterile. I want to feel comfortable when I workout. Like it’s an escape not a chore. I feel like I’m in a sweaty room and blinded by warehouse lights now. I am so disappointed. I don’t even know where to go now because You guys are just EOS now with a different color. My mom also had her membership for 20 years or so. She’s canceling too. Disappointment is an understatement. Can someone please tell me why? There are enough gyms with that style, why?!??! I seriously don’t know what to do now I’m not going to planet fitness And EOS is like the Walmart of gyms. Lifetime is a ripoff. I’m so upset. ‍♀️ I am at a total loss. You are a carbon copy of VASA, which I recently checked out. Ughhhh. Someone needs to start a cozy gym…

My boyfriend put me on mountain side and I’ve said nothing but positive things about it to the community. The sauna access has been life changing. Fantastic experience: I would like to give Ben Perea, the newest manager a shout out! My family have been members for over a decade, and I worked at this location years ago. I have seen many managers come and go. With Ben I notice his attention to details. This review comes from a bar that was set very high, by two managers I worked for. My general manager, Narissa and my childcare manager, Kayla. Not since then have I see someone like Ben with their potential. To come close to being mentioned with them is one of the highest compliments. I think those at corporate, who knew Narissa and Kayla, would agree. Keep up the great work Ben! If you leave for a better position, I'll regret this review. No, I only hope great things for you, your employees and Mountainside.

Fantastic experience: Tons of open machines, locker rooms with towels provided, steam room and dry sauna. Heavy bags to releive the days stress! Went back today after a hiatus and found two full body massage chairs! Are you kidding!?!

Fantastic experience: Been a member of this location for 12 years and it’s still the best well rounded chain in the valley and the Chandler location is the original. They still have this awesome single leg ham curl from like the Joe Weider days.

Positive experience: Good gym, odd crowd. Today was my first day here. I’m contemplating bringing a GoPro chest rig just to record some of the randomness I saw. There was a guy that was practicing knife skills in the corner. He legitimately had a knife and was twirling it around and practicing his ability to stab with it. Then 2 people started boxing and holding pads right in the middle of the gym where everyone was lifting. I’m all for boxing, but there’s also a place for it. Right in the middle of all the lifting equipment is not that place. Overall, I felt like I was having a fever dream.

Fantastic experience: Great place to get a good workout in, not the fanciest facility but the equipment is perfect for working out and the locker rooms are very updated! General manager is very present on the floor and attentive to his members.

Negative experience: Went in for a tour. No one greeted me. When I asked for a tour of the gym the 2 people at the front desk were just looking at me. They were nice to all of guest checking in. The guy who gave me the tour just rushed through it and was rude and not friendly at all. I will not be joining this gym.

Fantastic experience: Ashton Newell was my yoga instructor on Monday 3/25. She told us that she was a Sub, for our Power Yoga 5:30PM class. I’m so happy that I had the chance to experience her style. I could hear a smile in her voice and her instructions were welcoming and easy to follow. I’m new to yoga overall but have taken maybe 15 classes in my life. Ashton is in my top 5 thank you for making my Monday.

Fantastic experience: The staff has done an incredible job ensuring that the club remains in great shape which it always has. They are always welcoming and have always been attentive to my needs as a member. Best. gym in chandler by far, would not consider going anywhere else. JM

Fantastic experience: After a rocky start, management went out of their way to make sure my experience was top notch. The facility is very clean, there are a lot of great amenities (like kid care, sauna and basketball court) and they offer a wide range of classes.

Negative experience: I’ve been coming to Mountainside since 2016. I’ve attended Gilbert, Ahwatukee, & Chandler over the years. & I’ve also referred many friends over the years. Currently Chandler is my home location & has been since 2020. Over the last 6 months the Chandler location has gone completely downhill never towels, never eucalyptus spray in steam room anymore, weights all over the place, jacked up machines etc. & I’m not sure when this Chris guy took over but since I’ve heard his name thrown around things seem to not be the usual Mountainside Vibe. I have been going through financial hardships since the end of last year due to the trade work I am in (Telecommunications-Tower Climber) and the first time I spoke with him was at the beginning of this year Jan ‘24 he was super chill I explained to him I was laid off and hadn’t been getting much hours towards the end of last year he was cool about it and understood even told me as long as I make the payment by the end of the month I would be fine. Well fast forward to last month and this month his attitude completely has changed towards me talking over me having an attitude, saying my name wrong after I politely corrected him multiple times, throwing the district manager in my face that she is aware of my account totally not cool. I have always communicated with them on a monthly basis even before him explaining my situation and have always made payments to keep the account active. Now for someone who is communicating and still giving money I really didn’t appreciate the disrespect I got from him especially today it was a total jerk move. I also informed him I recently got back to work and things will be leveling out for me soon & again still rude. I am super unsatisfied with the atmosphere of this location along with his incompetence in his workplace. Instead of taking my constructive criticism he continued to be rude. I hope he can get it together or they find someone else to run this place who has that Mountainside vibe that attracted me to this Gym way back when. If there aren’t changes here soon my partner & I will be changing gyms.

Positive experience: A great gym if your primary focus is listening to people hit punching bags as loud as they can Aside from that, great equipment selection, always really clean, WAY better than other gyms around Chandler.

Negative experience: Policy consistency or employed need to be on same page. I have been here since December and have had no problem using my father’s guest pass since I’m not from the area. They let me know I couldn’t use the gym without him being present. My father called and still would barely let me in. Do I have to go workout with my father now at the same time? A guest should be allowed to workout at whatever time and ya’ll need to figure out a different system to verify. Next time I’ll bring in my birth certificate. I’ve been using his guest pass since December..figure it out.

Fantastic experience: When I moved to Gilbert from Scottsdale almost three years ago, one of my priorities was to find a gym. In my 65 years on this planet, I have belonged to more gyms, including CrossFit boxes than I care to remember. However, within minutes of walking into Mountainside Fitness in Gilbert, and receiving a tour of the facilities, I knew I had found THE gym I was looking for. Mountainside offers a tremendous variety of premium strength training equipment, fitness classes, state-of-the-art cardio equipment, personal training & full service locker rooms, all of which is well maintained, and the facility is incredibly clean, with extraordinarily professional, knowledgeable, friendly & engaging staff. And speaking of their staff, I wish to commend membership services staff member, Amanda M. @ the Chandler location, who went way above and beyond to properly convert my membership to a "Renew Active- Optum" membership via my health insurance. Amanda was able to convert my membership by next day. In my opinion Amanda M. is a tremendous asset to Mountainside Fitness. Amanda made the entire process seamless. I now drive an extra 8 miles to the Chandler gym because of staff members like Amanda in addition to the above mentioned amenities, this facility has a great vibe! Highly recommend!!

Negative experience: It's a no for me. Staff is disrespectful at times and they act like they're all that because they work at a high-end gym. Blonde girl manager is also very unprofessional.

Negative experience: They are a scam. My SO has a health issue and we informed them of it, and submitted signed documentation to stop payment. They kept charging the card. We noticed last month and they had charged us for three more months. Now they state that we should trust them and use these that "we have paid for." Their employees even agree that we cancelled the service which makes the situation even more ridiculous. They are just scam artists like the other gyms. I hoped this was not the case. I am going through my credit card company now. Edit 1: Talked to them, they restarted paused payment which they call a hold and said was a courtesy for medical issues within their gym. Their Better Business Bureau rating is F. Please for your own sanity do not do business with them.
