Negative experience: Esta gente son unos abusadores de 15 dolares lo subieron a 50 dolares sin previos aviso...a tienen las personas con mal humor incluido el maniger...busquen otro gym esto es una estafa total These people are abusers. They raised the price to $50 from $15 without warning... they have people in a bad mood, including the manager... find another gym, this is a total scam.

Negative experience: Whoever is running their accounts and billing is an idiot. They don’t know the difference between a 29.99 monthly versus a 49.99 annual fee and they have been charging the annual instead of monthly. Don’t bother with this headache.

Negative experience: Do not sign the contract and expect them to honor it. I moved across the LV and wanted to cancel my membership. I sent a written notice of cancellation via certified USPS mail, which is explicitly permitted in the contract. They continued to charge my card. I visited the gym TWICE in person after that to cancel, and they continued to charge my card. I filed monthly charge disputes with my credit card company, and Maxx continued to charge my card and did not respond to any of the credit card company's attempts to contact. I eventually filed for fraud investigation through the credit card company and changed credit cards. Maxx continued to attempt to charge the cancelled card, with an additional return service fee, and sent a text (no email, call, or written notice) stating that if I did not pay the outstanding balance on my account it would be sent to collections (this is less than one billing cycle following the "missed payment"). I called the gym and was told I have to come in person to cancel. I emailed the gym, no response. I went with my husband to the gym to resolve this once and for all, and they tried to give us the runaround, initially threatening to charge us hundreds of dollars even above what is listed as outstanding on the account, including a "cancellation fee" of $98. They had no consistent explanation for what the charges were. When my husband pressed them, the manager on site tried to defer to the manager above him, who is conveniently only in on Tuesdays. The whole matter was only resolved after my husband negotiated to pay the two months of "outstanding membership dues" with his Amex and threatened to pursue a fraud investigation on his Amex if they continued to charge. In a final note of insulting irony, it states at the top of the cancellation form that it is preferable for memberships to be cancelled via written notice via certified mail....which I now realize is likely included specifically to lure people into situations like this. Unfortunately this business actually appears to be a complete scam, luring people into contract terms that they then choose to change or disregard at their whim, knowing that their customers are generally not people who have the time or money to sue them for fraud and breach of contract.

Negative experience: If your thinking about joining then listen to all this comment and don’t they will really screw you big time. How a place like that is going to charge you 10 dollars bring you to a contract Without telling you anything bring the price up to 50 dollars this gym should be closed permanently they have no transparency. Negative experience: Signed up for the 29.99 promo in august and was told minimum was 6 months, rate still went up to $50. Cancelled today after 6 months and was told I have a 1 year membership obligation. Website says $58 to buy out membership but now it’s $88…even though the website still says $58. And I still have to pay for next month. Price increase is advertised as paying for upgrades like saunas. The only things done have been fixing lights and eventually a new floor. None of the other new amenities. Lots of bait and switch. Run down facility with broken equipment. Not worth $29 let alone $50.

Negative experience: I personally don’t recommend this place. On two separate occasions I almost fell from the treadmill. Some employees have a bad attitude. In general the gym isn’t worth it.

Negative experience: Worst place ever. They raised their rates by 400% from $10 a month to $50 a month. When we complained and asked to cancel they said we have to pay it again before we can cancel. They said they sent an email in September and we are under contract and have to pay it. They refused to let us talk to the owner. They stated there is no corporate or main office. They said if we did not pay it they would send us to collections and mess with our credit. The attitude and rudeness we received was outrageous. Raising by 400% in this economy for working folks is just wrong. The place is not worth the price.

Negative experience: Mike Colon is the worst manager that I have ever had to deal with and that speaks volumes. He was rude, argumentative, and disrespectful. He based his argument on the contract terms where nothing in my contract justified a random price increase. He did not try to work with me and instead merely shrugged his shoulders as he rolled his eyes; fighting back the entire way without an ounce of empathy. He should not be running any establishment and should be fired for this absolutely poor customer service demonstration.

Negative experience: Faucet in me s bathroom has been loose for more than 6 months nobody fixes it. Urinal has not worked in over 1 year and Noone fixes it it smells like hell. The employees lack any professionalism or care for members or there job. Management does not exist. To top it off its fee is going up 49 dollars. Do to upgrades so they say. The communication with members is terrible, this is the problem Management. You suck

Negative experience: I wish I could give negative stars. Just know that if you join the Allentown Maxx that it is very neglected, that they only care about Saucon and Trexlertown and the other locations. The whole place is just dirty, the equipment Is old, and you frequently find the bathrooms don’t have soap or paper towels. It’s disgusting. And so blatant how different they treat Allentown than the other locations. The only thing that kept me going was the instructor Susie that actually knew what she was doing. But since she is not there there is no reason to go.

Negative experience: This is legit the dirtiest most unsafe gym I’ve ever been to.. Now I get it, are gyms top notch clean? No, people sweat.. BUT you can’t even do push up’s anywhere or anything that involves you laying down without dirt smacking your face. There’s a lady that’s “cleans” in the morning, with the same dirty black mop water over and over. I know she’s just doing her job, but the mopping happens over and over in the same spot where people aren’t going to stop walking around. Soo yea I almost fell getting on the standing calf raises, because she kept mopping the spot over and over and that was the last thing for me to do. The smith machine to the left, is literally falling apart. The bar is extremely bent, and it’s very difficult to lock it in place when you’re done. I don’t understand how and why it’s still there. They need a whole new renovation, or just knock this down, because from the moment you walk in it’s just a dirty environment to be in. Let’s not forget, the lack of machines they have and everything else is rusted. So much for driving here because it’s a little closer than Saucon valley, but what a dang difference between the two. SAD!

Negative experience: Terrible facility, looks like a prison yard. Machines/Benches aren’t nailed into the ground, all 45 lb plates are broken with missing rubber. No air conditioning

Negative experience: I’ve been a member since day 1 and I use 4 out of the 5 Lehigh valley locations. Currently living close to the Allentown location I decide to cancel (mid April) and the girl at the desk takes my request and says ok good to go your last payment will be in may until it goes though. Irresponsible me sees my credit card statement today and surprise I have 7 monthly charges and 1 maintenance charge. Nothing can be done surprise surprise. Filed disputes with capital one and BBB so we’ll see. The facility is sub par. For 29.99 a month everything is broken, rust on the weights, lack of weights and nobody cares. For 2$ more a month you can go to a 24/7 facility and not deal with this. All of this could have been solved if management trained front desk properly on cancellation policies and they were relayed to members.

Positive experience: It's a fine gym for 4 am. Needs more organization in free weight room as there is no specific place to rerack weights except on other machines. All spray bottles are broken as well except one and sometimes I think it's just water in them. But otherwise an okay gym. Also there is No childcare.

Positive experience: Pretty good gym. The people are nice and at times can be helpful. They’ll give you advice with your workouts. The only thing is the locker room smells and it’s pretty tiny.

Negative experience: Gym has become real trashy since it opened years ago. Joined up 3 months ago and there is never paper towels, soap or working toilets in the ladies room. The workers blast the music so you cant enjoy your own playlist. Machines are always down and it is so dirty and dusty. The water fountain is dirty and covered in rust and white film. It is sad it has become so bad will start using the one in Bethlehem. Also the daycare is included in a platinum membership for 29.99 a month and its never open. Can tell the owner or workers dont care about the appearance.

Negative experience: This place a Joke I called the owner out Matthew. They sent me this email in November that the rate was going from 15$ a month to 49$ because they was going to do “Major upgrades” is been 3 month and they done 00000 upgrades. If I was you I’ll go to the Quakertown PA location sign up with them pay 30$ a month and still use the Allentown location ‍♂️ this place so outdated and I don’t see the value of 49$ a month the bathrooms sticks they barely clean it half the cardio machines work and they never open on time. The AG will handle Mr D’Amico lying to customers.

Negative experience: After going to this gym for the last year I can confidently say this is the worst gym that not only I’ve been to in the area, but that I’ve ever been to. The gym itself is absolutely disgusting and everything rarely, if ever, is cleaned. Some equipment has been broken since I initially joined and that includes weights and mirrors. Outside of being broken and in cleaned, weights are never returned and no matter what time of the day it looks like a disaster in there. The employees there nor do the trainers seem to care. Please do yourself a favor and go to literally any other gym in the area. That is, unless you like working out in what looks like squalor. 1 Star is being generous. If I could give zero I would.

Positive experience: I wanted to rejoin back up. The guy there was very nice and transparent. However the movie theater was down and has no idea when it would return. They just can’t get a electrician for help. Everything goes through cooperate unfortunately. So ok I’ll check out a couple treadmills and the first two I seen the tv’s weren’t working. That’s when I knew this isn’t the place to go. Their staffing is very low and seems they can’t keep up with all their issues. Unfortunately I have to look for another gym.

Negative experience: So disappointed went there a month ago to cancel my member chip I got charged twice after my membership was cancel. the person in the front never told or even explain how it was after we cancel but had the audacity to tell me today to leave the place when he clearly didn’t even explained everything. I won’t recommend this place and if the person doest like his then he could just get a new and also he knew he was the one that help me and my husband and was telling me that explain everything to me and once I told him he didn’t he told me to leave the place and to come the next day to talk to his manager.

Fantastic experience: I have been in attendance at this gym for 3 months now I enjoy the cleanliness of this facility. The staff are all very friendly and easy to approach for help tips and advice. The equipment is all in good condition the weights are generally where they belong and easy to find its never extremely crowded exeptance mondays around 530 to 8 wich is highly expected being "International Chest Day". they definitely have outdone my expectations of a 10 gym

Negative experience: Gym was clean, plenty of equipment when I started 2 years ago. I slowly started to see the decline in the whole place. They decided to raise rates(with two months left in the year. Why not wait till the new year to make the price increase?) and not have any updates or any other gym membership options. I since canceled and moved on.

Fantastic experience: Staff is polite and welcoming, cleanliness has improved greatly since their change in management in February. Overall nice facility and I’m obsessed with the protein shakes!

Negative experience: Lots of equipment but not very clean. If you're fully vaccinated, you can probably join more confident of not catching COVID, but what about other diseases??? I doubt it that much of their 30 under crowd are vaccinated. Really doubt it!!! The mask policy is just "encouraged" but not enforced. Yeah...as if that's going to work. And Maxx is afraid of alienating their "refuse to wear mask" crowd because of losing biz, BUT I can assure Maxx that they're losing the business of a big pool of customers - those who care about health. Oh well, join Maxx if you're a risk-taker. Just remember, that once COVID is gone, cleanliness & health measures in a gym will always be of major importance.

Positive experience: Big upgrades to this place and change in working crew has really stepped this place up. Only complaint is lack of plates. Finding them can be a pain otherwise nice staff and solid gym.

Positive experience: The floors are dirty and some of the equipment is damaged. The staff is very nice and hospitable. And the men's bathroom and locker room is always dirty. The 3 stars is for the staff.

Negative experience: I found the gyms (Allentown and Bethlehem) to be good value before the pandemic. Even though I wasn't going, I was fine to support local business and pay my membership for a few months (oh, we were members from the beginning going back to 2012). After seeing the pandemic wouldn't end, I figured it was time to cancel my membership, with the intent of joining back after it was safe again, whenever that was. I was told I had to physically go into a club (during a pandemic) to cancel. That is outrageous in and of itself. But life is busy and I had moved so it wasn't as convenient to stop by one of the local locations. My CC was compromised so I got a new card and forgot to call them. They called me and I informed them that I was regretfully cancelling. They told me again I had to come into a location. So I went into Bethlehem when I was driving by one day, only they told me I had to go to Allentown since I originally signed up there. Ok, annoying...but not a huge deal. Keep in mind I hadn't stepped foot in the gym for over a year, but still paid all along. I was on a month-to-month contract and they could probably tell me the last time I was there. When I got to Allentown later that day to cancel, I was told I owed $59.99 in back charges (two months and $10 for each month in late fees). What if I never went back, would they take me to collections, lol? I told the kid at the desk it was ridiculous and he seemed dumbfounded that I would feel that way by the sheer fact that he asked me what was ridiculous about it. I told him that my wife and I would probably rejoin once the pandemic was over...up until I was treated as such. What idiotic business would rather rake a customer for $60 one time as opposed to getting their recurring business back in the future? So needless to say, they will never get another dollar from me, and I have thousands of local households as clients and I will make sure I tell them to avoid this place like the plague...go to LA Fitness on 15th St...better atmosphere, cheaper, and cleaner! Nicely done, Maxx...you turned a 9-year customer into an enemy over $60...morons!

Negative experience: I have been coming to this gym for the past 8 years and the equipment is never taken care of on a timely matter or the equipment is beat to heck, no rubber support around the bars, cable machines are always broken. Maxx fitness has no problem taking my money every month but never fixes or replace torn or beat up equipment do not recommend

Negative experience: I have been there for almost 4 years, and takes them a long time to fix any machine or buy new equipment regardless of charging an annual fee+ the monthly membership. I believe i’m only staying because the staff is young, friendly, professionals and fun people. But above all im staying because of the PT lee clemente the guy knows his thing. If it wasnt because of the staff and Lee i would have gone else where already.

Negative experience: Bathing suit season is coming, but don't go here to get in shape! They have no respect for their members: the place is dirty and they have violated COVID mandates in the past. I told them I didn't feel safe with their uncleanliness and not following masking mandates: their solution that they thought was "more than fair"--I had to pay almost $1000.00 to get out of my contract. They certainly don't care about their members-- they charged my credit card without telling me and did not respond to my emails and letter. You deserve better than this!

Negative experience: This gym was enough to get by for a little while, but it needs work. The locker room is small and grungy. Part of the staff formed a clique that worked out together during their off time (wait were they working?) It was a grunting muscle fest whenever they were working out (which was often) and they crowded out other gym members. Often the paper towels and sanitizer stations were empty. Broken equipment went unrepaired for months. They continued to charge fees during the pandemic. There was no communication about discontinuing service. Then I call to cancel and they tell me I have to go in to cancel.. Oh and when I went in, they said I was going to be charged one more month. Ridiculous in this day and age.

Negative experience: They offer childcare with Platinum plus membership for up to 90min,but I would never leave my child in there it is beyond filthy and disgusting. I felt like I needed a tetanus shot after being in there!

Negative experience: You get what you pay for and sometimes you pay for more than you get. Apparently there was a problem with our recurring payment card (no idea why, that card has been active this whole time). We were not alerted to the problem until three months later, where we were charged for the normal rate as well as compounding late fees for the past months. Poor communication and no efforts towards compensating their error.

Fantastic experience: Love it here. Great staff, they are super helpful. Locker rooms are always nice and clean. They offer great group classes that are included with full membership that I love participating in. I also see a personal trainer here, who is fantastic at his job and really helping me make strides toward my personal goals.

Now i have to keep an eye on my account to make sure they dont keep taking money out. Never again SO TODAY 07 10 2019 MIND YOU ON APRIL I WENT THERE AND CLOSED MY ACC WITH MAXX FITNESS AND NOW I FOUND OUT THAT IF YOU MADE A CONTRACT WITH THE TRIANER IT IS TOTALLY SEPARATE FROM THE MAXX GYM. AND NOW IN JULY THEY ARE STILL CHARGING ME FOR THIS SERVICE, BECAUSE IT DID NOT OCCUR TO THEM TO TELL ME THAT I NEEDED TO ALSO SIGNG OFF ON THE CONTRACT FOR THE TRAINER, REALLY MAX FITNESS.!!!!! YOU GUYS ARE THIEFFFFFSSSSSSSSS.....
