Pure Athletex Sportsplex

Negative experience: My young son canceled his membership 6 weeks ago and they continue to charge him monthly. He is not on a contract. When he called them in person to cancel, they said they would have to pay another month as a cancellation fee. He’s paid 3 full on this and never day foot in the facility. Another scam gym ripping off young people.

Fantastic experience: All you could want in a gym. Some equipment is dated but that's what makes it great. It's what Arnold would've used. Everyone I've seen keeps their shirt and shoes on.

Fantastic experience: The space in the bubble with the new surface is excellent for pickleball. If anything the surface is almost too tacky. With any decent SHO e you will have almost zero slide.

Fantastic experience: Great gym area... good for 3v3 basketball. Andrew was very accommodating with helping me set up a pick-up reservation for the basketball court.

Fantastic experience: We held a birthday party at Pure Athletex and we’re still talking about how wonderful the experience was! The facility is spacious and clean. And Dave was professional, helpful, and super kind throughout the whole process. Would definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: Pure Athletex was THE perfect spot for my son’s flag-football 6th birthday party! All of the kids had a blast. David, the owner, was a gracious host. He made sure we had everything we needed and it was all set up when we arrived, including flags for our flag-football party. We are looking forward to holding another event at Pure!

Negative experience: Weight room is terrible. Lots of “bros” who don’t wear shirts or shoes. Worst of all no one wipes down anything after using them which due to allowing no shirt and shoes has caused members to get ringworm. Vinyl is torn on almost every bench and free weights themselves are from the 70s. High school kids sit and text instead of using equipment so you are forced to wait a long time to use things. Lots of people carry a backpack around so there is tripping hazards everywhere. Look someplace else in area to go.

Fantastic experience: We had the most amazing birthday party here for my 7yo. He had so much fun with all his friends. The staff was very kind and accommodating. The facility was great! Very clean and updated

Fantastic experience: Pure Athletex is the place to be! We go to the gym most mornings before work, and they have so many great machines and free weights to use. I’ve never had to wait for a machine here! They also have a top notch tennis program, basketball program, and turf for softball/baseball and more! The staff is also super kind and always helpful. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Definitely a hidden gem for gyms in the PGH area. It's never crowded even during peak gym hours and offers a variety of old/new equipment. It has multiple areas so you don't have to wait on any equipment. Also, offers a sauna as well as a track and turf/basketball courts when it's not rented. There's also a tennis academy and offers a lot of kids activities so there's a little bit of everything for everyone. Staff and owner are friendly and responsive.

Fantastic experience: Pure Athletex is a top notch facility for working out, tennis, basketball, softball/baseball, and more (and myself and family utilize Pure for all of the services noted). The staff is friendly and the facilty is kept very clean. The turf area is perfect for baseball/softball training and the basketball gym with shooting gun has been a great (relatively recent) addition that we utilize regularly. If you are looking for group or individual basketball training, Andrew Beckman is one of the best in the area in my opinion (he works regularly with my daughter who is a college player). I coach the local high school tennis team and the tennis program consistently develops the top tennis talent in the area. If I could give a rating higher than 5 stars I would.

Fantastic experience: Great gym! Unlike the chain gym we used to belong to, this place has solid equipment that is always in working order, very friendly and helpful staff, and is very clean. It's also affordable for the quality of the amenities. I highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: My twins had their 10th birthday party here this month! They played flag football and basketball and absolutely loved it! The whole car ride home they kept sharing that it was "the best birthday party ever!" The owner David and his wife were wonderful to work with. They went out of their way to make sure we had a great night. We highly recommend for an awesome sports birthday experience!

Fantastic experience: Great location and atmosphere! There is plenty of equipment to get my workouts and cardio in. The owner and staff are friendly and helpful. I have never had to wait around for equipment. The facility is always clean and stocked well. Very happy that I switched to Pure!

Fantastic experience: Pure Athletex is an all encompassing athletic training center. Ranging from tennis, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, and more, Pure has state of the art facilities and coaches to develop your game. The location is super convenient and I would highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: We hosted my sons fourth birthday at Pure Athletex Sportsplex, and everyone had a blast! We hired the amazing Coach Dave to play games with the kids in the turf room. Which was perfect. The party room was also great, we had a lot of room to set up everything we wanted. Pure provides all the tables, chairs, and made it super easy. I can’t recommend this place enough for a fun and unique party. My son said he wants every party there!

Fantastic experience: Sam Rosenberg and his assistant Mary provided custom and much needed training to a senior citizen who is concerned about his personal safety in these trying times. The training was done in basic steps, were easy to follow, moved in a natural progression, and with practice formed both the mental and muscle memory that led to a formidable strong defense and the judgement as to when and how to become the aggressor in the face of danger. I highly recommend Sam Rosenberg Academy of Personal Safety!

Fantastic experience: I just recently joined this gym and I have nothing but positive things to say about it. The atmosphere is great. There is so much equipment, and there’s also an indoor track which is a huge plus! The owner is very kind and personable. I’m so happy that I found this gym, I look forward to my time there every day.

Fantastic experience: This gym has everything you need and MORE! Its the perfect place to get a great workout in. The gym is clean, the staff is friendly, and they have more machines and equipment available to use than any other gym I’ve worked out in. Give them a try! You won’t regret it.

Negative experience: Stinks. Like a maze working out with so many rooms. Small rooms with very low ceilings.

Fantastic experience: Spacious with lots of varying equipment. Clean. Friendly staff. Never feels crowded due to the layout. I love that it's not just a giant space with tons of equipment and people. There are several rooms so there is still a private feel, even when it's busier.
