University Fitness Center: Opinions
Negative experience: Giving this Gym a one star review because its not free if your a part-time student. The gym facility also needs to be completly renovated because the equipments, machines and dumbell are worn out.
Fantastic experience: Excellent swiming pool and gym equipment
Negative experience: The gym facilities are satisfactory, but unfortunately, I have encountered several significant issues with the pool and swimming lessons. Despite the scheduled hours indicating that the pool should be open from 7 am to 7 pm, this has often not been the case. The pool has been closed frequently and seemingly at random, including a lengthy closure between 12/26/2023 and 1/1/2024. Furthermore, the quality of the swimming lessons for kids has declined compared to previous years when the program was led by the previous director and instructors. My child had a positive experience and showed improvement under their guidance. Since their departure, the program has taken a noticeable downturn. In summary, if you are seeking a reliable pool or quality swimming lessons for kids, this may no longer be the ideal place based on recent experiences.
Fantastic experience: Great gym. Good variety of free weights and cardio. Helpful staff. Lots of good pickup basketball games
Fantastic experience: Very friendly, helpful staff. Very clean space with handy, convenient supplies to help guests be mindful of others. Very nice variety of equipment. Family friendly location that serves the community. With covid activity continually going on, it's nice to see the staff still committed to health and safety - DaShawn and Emma were the superstars I caught shining... thanks for that... it means alot! Thank you!
Positive experience: Great facility, great price. When I signed up they offered me 2 free personal training sessions. I was interested in a personal trainer and would have gladly paid for nothing else than the motivating factor. However, they were supposed to contact me but its been months. I emailed them twice before scrapping that idea. Must be a backlog. Besides that, you cannot find a better facility in this area.
Fantastic experience: sup
Positive experience: A Great fitness center, but the parking for autos is horrible at times.
Positive experience: Excellent strength training equipment and run/walk track (1/10th mile per lap). Pool is very nice, but it is often crowded. Gym is nicely air conditioned, which is mostly good, except for the cold walk from the pool to the locker room. The locker room facilities - esp. the showers - are the nicest and CLEANEST that I've seen in any gym. The only reason I don't give this gym 5 stars is because their wi-fi system is for students only. Non-student members cannot access their wi-fi.
Negative experience: If you’re going to have a million different “exceptions” to what qualifies as a family member, then how about you change how you word your policy. Instead of saying “1 additional family member” will a million exceptions in fine print how about you say “spouse or children under 19” only. It’s ridiculous. Just saying.
Positive experience: I just switched to this gym from planet fitness after my husband started working for the university. I am enjoying it so far and there are a lot of amenities like fitness classes, a track, and a lap pool. Because they are involved in the community, there are times when camps/other events are taking place there, which can be distracting when you are trying to work out.
Positive experience: Does anyone know the days and times the gym is least crowded??
Positive experience: I gave four stars because the hours of operation is my only complaint. Why would a gym only be open from 1pm to 5pm on Sundays? How is this accessible hours to students? I, like many other students, can only make it to the gym a certain amount of days during the week due to school and work schedules. So why would you have such a limited open time on Sunday? Some students want to come the gym on Sundays but can't during your current operating hours because they have work and mandatory study/project group meetings. I would love to come to the gym on Sundays but can not because of work and project meetings. If the hours were similar to Saturday's hours that would be better and make more sense. I love attending the fitness classes. The instructors are always happy and encouraging and politely correct your form when needed. Everything is always clean. Staff is always friendly when I sign in.
Fantastic experience: Positive: Professionalism , Quality
Fantastic experience: Great gym for the community. Some say its a little pricey on the memberships but once you include the weight room, cardio room, indoor pool, basketball court, and indoor track i think its a fair price. It can be a little crowded at times but most gym's are. I dont believe you can beat the cleanlyness of the entire facility expesially during todays threat of covid. The staff are all more than willing to help you out with anything they can. My only complaint would have to be that i wish the equipment was newer and up to date, but that is all i can say is lacking in this gym. All in all its a great place with great people working there. Oh and i forgot to mention all the great classes they offer to keep you motivated or try something different in your workout.
Fantastic experience: Always clean with friendly supportive staff. Family friendly. It would be great if more water fitness classes were offered throughout the day. The current times are not feasible for the many who work at the times now offered.
Positive experience: Glad this pool was so close to my hotel, though that and the friendly front desk staff are the only reason it gets any stars at all. The pool room is too hot, including the water - it's an indoor pool, there's no reason to have the water so warm... Why is a pool at a university so shallow? Not even 3' at one end, 5' in the middle, and maybe 8' on the far side... The staff shouldn't blast Christian Rock music. It's inappropriate, not to mention uncomfortable and boring... No crowds and had a lane to myself each time I went... Locker rooms were good. I didn't look at the rest of the gym. - I am not a student. The $10 day use price is a bit steep. Outdoor olympic size pools in other states charge half this rate.
Fantastic experience: Great staff, good variety of equipment to use, clean facility. I highly recommend this gym.
Fantastic experience: It's got every single machine and weight you'll ever need to get fit. Also, the staff are great people and they are very supportive.
Positive experience: Huge variety of machines, free weights, indoor track, indoor pool, clean facilities. Lot of activities and programs. Great Gym, Staff is nice, membership can be a little bit pricey.
Positive experience: i love the gym but workers at frontdesk they are rude af
Positive experience: too many dudes and bros
Negative experience: Coming back to change my 5star review that I gave 6 years ago, to 1star and I wish it was an option to give 0. Good facilities, awful administration staff!
Positive experience: The facility is clean. The service is nice (fresh towels all the time). The classes they offer are generally good (Yoga, Zumba, etc). The machines are fairly new and in good repair. The track often gets loud since the basketball court is below. The biggest complaint, thus the low review, is the parking. When you pay a premium to attend this gym you should have to do half your cardio walking to the building...
Positive experience: Overall the gym is great. Has great strength training, classes, pool and a track. I've always made this my first choice gym in town. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is, I do wish the cardio equipment was more updated and available. Its impossible to get an elliptical some times during the day and they are old and half of the headphone ports don't work on them so you can't listen to what is on the tvs. I also wish that the wifi was accessible to anyone who is paying the fee to use the gym.
