SamFit - Albany

Fantastic experience: SamFit is awesome. I walked in today and Brady asked how was my shoulder and Layton offered an exercise for overuse thumb. Wow, what a staff. I was there for yoga with Nicole and it was super great and zen!!!

Fantastic experience: Had some issues with my billing and membership. Amy and Danny were able to get me fixed up properly !!! This gym staff and equipment are wonderful!

Negative experience: This place is absolutely horrible. I cancelled my membership YEARS ago. Years. 2023. No calls. No emails. Not until $500 plus was owed under my name. They had record of me cancelling and I know for a fact I did not restart my membership because I joined another gym membership. I called and they still made me pay half of the fee even though there’s zero record of me going after I cancelled. They claimed they texted and emailed and I didn’t get a thing until there was a huge balance. Disorganized to the max and clearly their system is flawed. I refuse to ever have a membership there again.

Negative experience: The staff that I have interacted with have always been kind and enthusiastic to help, but lately it has been impossible for me to reach them by phone, and when I sent an email I received an automated response telling me to wait 5-7 days for review, which could be very problematic if you need to speak to someone about billing and are not aware that you will need to contact them far in advance. I can’t seem to find the staffed hours on their website, and I haven’t caught them when they are staffed due to my work schedule. They recently increased the monthly membership cost to $55, which to me feels unreasonable given how little maintenance goes into the facility and equipment and how incredibly difficult it is to contact them.

Negative experience: They don't clean this gym. I've been a member for 6 months now and it's apparent that they never deep clean the facility. The equipment is dirty, underneath the machines lots of dirt and dust has accumulated and since I noticed 3 months ago I've been looking every time I come in and still no one has been through to clean it. They just raised the prices at the beginning of the year too, and for $50 a month I'm shocked. When I was a planet fitness member for $10 a month they were always walking around cleaning equipment. This is a facility owned by a hospital that accommodates many older, immunocompromized individuals.

Fantastic experience: Great Gym, most uninspiring music on earth though. How am I supposed to get pumped to this soft Christian folk music. (Forgot my headphones) Just play yacht rock. Kenny loggins makes me want to pump iron.

Fantastic experience: Clean and quiet

Positive experience: This gym is awesome. Affordable, open 24/7 365 days a year. Excellent equipment, clean, new, never crowded. Lots of classes included. The only thing missing is a pool or sauna.

Fantastic experience: Spacious 24-hour gym offering classes upstairs. I've joined in on yoga class with my friend who is a member. Amazing yoga instructor. Lots of parking.

Fantastic experience: Just reopened Mat 2024, clean, well equipped and easy to access in North Albany

Negative experience: Absolutely no communication about their reopening is basically robbery at this point.

Negative experience: Was a good gym with friendly staff. But its been taking way too long to remodel from the fire that was from my understanding contained to a small area of the overall building. They continued to charge me without even letting me know I can go to another gym in town as an alternative. There was no communication about that. Even some friends who work for Samaritan was not aware of that policy happening. Real shame but I'm tired of waiting.

Negative experience: Closed for renovations for way too long. I've seen apartment complexes built in less time. The new bridge in Corvallis was just started a month ago and that will be finished before this place is open and running. What's the hold up? Not charging enough for medical treatment or medicines? Isn't the 500% or larger mark up for services enough to slap some paint on a wall? Come on Good Samaritan, I expect more from you than the 6 month (true case, it happened to me) it took you to diagnose I had a sliver in my foot and NOT remove it. Let's get going and finish this up already

Negative experience: Did try multiple multiple times to get ahold of this location via phone but they don’t awnser so it’s not really worth trying. And you can’t get into the location without a member ship so it’s probably the better decision to just go to Corvallis to start your member ship.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym with great open 24/7 hours and friendly staff. The gym is pretty much always clean and never too busy. There are several classes available but I haven't went to any of them, I have just had really good experiences with the personal trainers. I like that there are a lot of rooms that you can go into on the sides of the main workout areas so that you can do freestyle routines or things outside of the machines and free weights.

Fantastic experience: I appreciate the SamFit Albany location even more than the Corvallis location where I used to go when I lived there. This location is significantly larger which means that it has even more free weights, strength equipment, cardio machines and training/sports rooms. It is also great that my wife and I get to take various circuit training classes with the same instructors we had in Corvallis. Those two instructors are Brady Vernon, ACE-CPT and Jacqueline Welter, ACE-CPT, USPA COACH. They do a great job teaching the exercises and modifications to either make the workout more or less challenging depending on individual capabilities. The only down sides that I have had with this location were surrounding the COVID-19 closures and restrictions... which is that they were forced to be closed for a while and wearing masks while working out took some getting used to. Since these are pandemic nation wide problems, I don't hold it against SamFit.

Negative experience: Avoid the personal trainer, Angie at this location. She can be very disrespectful with members and the clients she trains. Some people just don't understand how their behavior effects other people. Not a good hiring decision on the part of Sam Fit. The way Sam Fit is being represented through her is very unprofessional and many people end up feeling demeaned by her.

Fantastic experience: Really nice work out equipment and great classes. Very nice new yoga studio. I teach the 6:30 AM Thursday morning class and love bringing people to yoga! Very knowledgeable staff that will help with any fitness questions or support.

Positive experience: I have been a member for almost two years. The staff are friendly and do their best. They are understaffed and under budgeted. It is often crowded and equipment is frequently out of service. It used to be a better value before, when my employer subsidized the cost, expensive otherwise. If you are able to be flexible when you go (as I am), it is worthwhile, otherwise better to spend more for Timberhill.

Negative experience: If I could give this facility zero stars, I would. The management there is disrespectful and simply rude and unaccomodating. When signing up for a membership with my partner, the employees indicated that this was a joined membership. When we attempted to cancel our membership, they assured us that it was done. It was NOT done. They cancelled one of our memberships (which we believed we were in a single SHARED membership). They continually charged my partners card for a year (totalling $1000). They refused to refund our money when we approached them when we found out we had been being charged. This experience was nothing short of a disappointment. I was hung up on multiple times by the manager and received snappy replies.

Positive experience: Good overall . Racquetball courts, arobic machines, classes, and weight machines. Would be nice to have more free weights but space is limited. 24 hrs is GREAT
