Negative experience: When you sign the initial contract you should just put your notice in at the same time. Their services that they provide do not match what is advertised. They will continue to charge you after you notify that you want to end your contract. They do not provide childcare, there machines are often broken and customer service is poor. I informed the front desk worker that I wanted to cancel and his conversation was brief and said good luck. Very poor experience. I won’t be back and won’t recommend this gym to anybody.

Fantastic experience: I love this gym! I drive extra to go to this particular family fitness. It's clean, the staff and friendly, and I love that there are two separate floors which give tons of space. The members are all nice and follow the rules. I was told about the annual fee which goes to improving the gym and I can see the improvements being made which makes me feel good knowing it is going towards what they say. The cancellation fee is only if you want to cancel early. Which is with a lot of memberships, not just gyms. Give this place a try you won't regret it!

Positive experience: Has all the machines you need if you're new to the gym and most staff are friendly. Unfortunately, it is missing some equipment for more advanced lifters and bodybuilders, and the stacks on the machines are pretty light, which kinda sucks. Still would recommend starting here over most other gyms.

Negative experience: They got my phone number by mistake. I’ve asked them to stop texting me and they said they would. However they continue to text me. Huge red flag. I would be scared to ever sign up for this gym because they clearly cannot be true to their word. I’m glad they just have my phone number and not my bank info because they probably would never let me out of a contract. Beware!

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend joining Family Fitness; the atmosphere, staff and equipment is phenomenal. Cannot beat the price for what this gym offers. You’ll never find yourself waiting to use equipment, or lacking space for cross training. Delicious in house smoothies are a bonus!

Negative experience: You’d think with what this place charges they’d update equipment once in a while or maybe even get the card reader changed out since they know it’s broken? You shouldn’t have to give me a tutorial on a card reader reach into your pockets and replace it!!

Fantastic experience: Great atmosphere and quality gym. Two floors to separate cardio equipment and strength training. Multiple bathrooms, locker rooms, classes, punching bags, etc. Lots of benches, squat racks and freeweights. I tend to gravitate to places like this versus the shiny places like planet fitness. They are over crowded, dont have the proper equipment, and are way too commercialized.

Fantastic experience: Really enjoy this gym! It’s usually never as busy as many other places around town. They have all of the equipment I need, and I don’t need to wait to use anything. Prices are fair, and the 24 hour access is awesome.

Positive experience: I don't quite know what to say here other than my experience was less than stellar. Of course talked into buying personal training sessions, that I thought were going to be life changing for me. My first meeting the trainer forgot about. Fine, I can get over that. But it's after the first session that I started to question. I paid for 4 sessions and I'm not going to the last 3. My schedule is busy, which is why I added a third star to the two I'd like to give. It seems like a very tight nit family, meaning, not everyone will feel comfortable here. There was a lot of weird stuff going on with reception when I joined. Came in once to pay my bills and no one could take my cash because they didn't know where the cash box was. There's lots more I could say, but I'll find somewhere else to go.

Fantastic experience: I've been working out here for a little less than a year but I deliberately waited to give a review because I wanted to see if feeling welcomed was a continuous positive emotion that I received and if the environment had good natural vibes. It is, and it does. Kaity does an amazing job here. It is the most comfortable facility I've ever worked out in. The culture she sets forth with her staff is very positive and upbeat. They are also very welcoming. Comfort is incredibly important to me, and I'm glad the staff makes me feel welcomed. I always get a smile from the staff when I walk in, and I'm always greeted with positive vibes. There is plenty of locker space, the showers are always clean, and everyone working out is very respectful. I haven't signed up for the yoga classes yet, but I've heard very positive things about it. Working out here has definitely helped my mental health and my physical health. I feel the energy in this facility and it feels great to call this place my workout home. I had a free training session with Emily and enjoyed the knowledge she gave me. I look forward to her training sessions. Emily's plan for me fits perfectly for what I'm looking to build! Thank you for the amazingly comfortable environment and the positive workout vibes. I'm glad I chose Family Fitness as my workout home.

Fantastic experience: This gym is a great lifting environment. The crowd is usually super nice and encouraging. The layout of the gym is unique and there are plenty of free weight options and machines. The staff are always very welcoming and talkative(especially Kaity and the cleaner, Sonja). The building itself could use work, but the environment definitely trumps planet fitness.

Fantastic experience: This gym is a must when in the area. In terms of layout, equipment variety and quality, and service, Family Fitness of Alpine (FFA) checks every box. My Coach and I traveled from out of town to compete at the OCB Michigan Natural and were looking for gyms when we stumbled upon FFA's listing on maps. The gym was above and beyond expectations. The facility was CLEAN, the staff was BEYOND friendly, and for the meathead in me, the equipment was top-notch (the hack machine goes all of the way to the floor as one example). Fast forward a year from the first visit, we have both returned to the area with athletes competing and our experience was as excellent as the first time. If you aren't going to Family Fitness of Alpine, what are you doing?!

Fantastic experience: I have had nothing but Great things About the Family fitness on 4 mile> A great Buzz of fitness in the air when you come in greeting and the equipment is outstanding after a 30 minute orientation, I was ready to go.

Negative experience: Do not join! This place is seriously awful. First of all Shawn will trick you into signing a year contract and just tell you that you are just signing your name for “signing up”. He doesn’t give you anything to read that tells you are signing a year contract he just brings up a box on a touch screen for you to sign. If you try to cancel they charge you cancellation fees and you have to contact them about 10 times before they actually do it. The gym is dirty and there was even mice spotted on multiple occasions while I was there, the employees knew there was a problem too. The showers are always broken, trash will sit in the bathrooms and locker room floors for a week. The equipment is old and outdated also. Avoid the hassle and go literally anywhere but here.

Negative experience: I have been here for many years. That said they care nothing about you They increase your payments and take stuff away. The upgrade charge they go to bring in extra equipment is a joke. People who work there are rude and obnoxious. God help if you do something wrong. Instead of nicely telling you or or asking you to do something they YELL and POINT a finger at you like your a kid. If you say something back they get on the phone and complain your running your mouth mouth

Fantastic experience: I joined this facility almost a year ago now - I was looking for a gym with a diverse selection of equipment, they have many great options for every muscle group, both free weights and machines. My personal favorites are the hack squat and v squat! There’s a women only section for those that would feel more comfortable in a private environment. The staff and trainers are all very welcoming and happy to answer any questions you may have. I look forward to all of my workouts here :)

Negative experience: Beware if you join this gym and ever want to leave. My son was a member and moved out of the area. He cancelled his membership and then a week and a half later they charged his card for the NEXT months membership fee and would NOT give it back! What an unscrupulous way of doing business! Shame on you Family Fitness!! I guess you are desperate to get every last dime out of your clients.

Negative experience: This gym is so relentless about getting members to sign up, different people constantly contacting you to come in and sign up. Friends of mine signed up because it’s close to home for them, and that’s great! But don’t bother people to join just because someone gave out a phone number for a giveaway. It’s annoying and definitely makes me take my business elsewhere

Negative experience: Greedy SOBs ask for more money every time you go, call anyone you refer to hound them too. The contract is a trap, do NOT sign up.

Negative experience: If I could give it 0 I would, lol. Don’t sign up for a membership because they sign you up without your knowledge for 2 years and then once your “contract” is up, automatically signs you up AGAIN. They don’t respond to emails either so good luck.

Negative experience: Terrible gym, they trick you into signing a multi-year contract with a high cancellation fee. They don’t phrase it that way at all when selling you on it (they phrase it as “keeping you at a good rate” for at least a few years), and the phrasing of the contract is shady. The treadmills never work, and there’s a lack of equipment variety. This is probably the worst gym I’ve ever been to in terms of price, equipment, and staff. Stay as far away as you can.

Negative experience: Called to see about my membership i got when i was in Muskegon Michigan went out of state to work for 5months i refuse to pay for a gym i cant use they have no locations for over 100miles she advertised me it was in collections i said ok n ask her simply how can a company charge for sumthin i cant use she got really mean toned n started going off on me how its a contract.Long story short i said im sorry if i came of mean called her hun to be polite got told i was not her friend dont call her that n she hung up really bad costumer service.Wouldnt recommend to anyone go somewhere where u can cancel at anytime no contact planet fitness is half the price i was paying 40$ a month that still not full Access smfh

Negative experience: Do not waste your time and money with this place. Deceptive practices. Signed up for the online month-to-month special that should give me access 5 days a week during staffed hours. Went in just to be told by the manager (shawn) to pick 3 days a week to attend. After being surprised by this nowhere-to-be-found "policy" I emailed the same address I got my contract from and they replied and said to me that there must have been a misunderstanding and that I can attend during staffed hours. So I come back in today (Saturday) just to be told by assistant manager (Katy) that I could not workout because Saturday was not "one of my days" that I was allowed to be in there. I asked to see the so called 3 day policy and showed her the email I got from corporate all on deaf ears, I was given the choice of either paying $10 to upgrade or leave, I chose to leave and never come back. Absolutely disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Joined here a few months ago and can say this is the best gym I have worked out at! They have every type of equipment from weight machines, cardio, stretching, and etc. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is overall a 10/10. Would recommend this gym to anyone looking to make a switch!

Negative experience: If this one isn't your home gym they will restrict your access, screw with your account, then staff will cover it up and lie to your face. They’ll give you the runaround until you’re so frustrated you leave because they don’t want to deal with customers that aren’t paying them specifically. Even other Family Fitness locations say this is the shady one of the bunch. Avoid at all costs; there are better gyms out there.

Negative experience: They do not honor their freezes. I was deemed disabled five years ago and called to cancel my account. They said that I could freeze my account and then when I was ready to use it I could unfreeze it and that time would be added on to the end of my membership. I called to unfreeze it and cancel my account since I will be able to use the gym within the next few months. I was treated very rudely by a girl at the alpine location. She talked over me and treated me very poorly. I got the email for cancelations. I wrote and just received an email saying my account has been canceled. I received no information on how to use the freeze time. I paid on my account 15.99 a month for five years and I get nothing even though I signed a freeze. Stay away from this business. They are nothing but crooks. I lost $1000 to this place. Watch yourself.

Fantastic experience: I happened to be back in town for a week and was able to use the 7-day free pass at this location. I really enjoyed my time here and the staff was so friendly each time I came in. I would definitely recommend a membership here to anyone who lives in the area.

Fantastic experience: Almost a year ago when I signed up for this gym and I have nothing but positive things to say. love the energy I get walking In, it provides a safe, functional, and comfortable workout environment, and creates a pleasant and enjoyable atmosphere for recreation and socialization but, most importantly and what I love the most is the staff. They are very good people who love their job, take it seriously, extremely helpful and have always behaved very well and professional. I am super happy here and I don't think about switching gyms for a long time. Thank you Family Fitness!!!

Negative experience: If you want to be screwed over this is the perfect place to go. When signing the contract they do not outline the hidden fees, naturally of course right? The buildings and machines are very outdated and for the high price of the membership this is ridiculous. All of the reviews about the cancelation policy being a mess is true. They make you jump through hoops. Very unprofessional. I canceled my planet fitness member ship in hopes I would get more out of my money here but sadly mistaken. Also a HUGE factor is security is a joke. Someone tried to steal my boyfriends motorcycle while it was parked. There are no security cameras. Respectful I will never EVER return here. If you like headaches more than fitness then “family” fitness is just for you!

Negative experience: It was really sad to an old lady crying trying to get her membership cancelled because she was deceived by Aaron, one of the managers for Family Fitness.It's a good gym, however the company itself is equivalent to Kirby Vacuum salesmen. The Family that owns this gym encourages their employees to lie to you to get you to pay more than you should for your membership.They aren't good people and don't deserve your money. When I worked here they had some sketchy promotion where they gave out "2-night vacation stays" at participating hotels, which sucked in a lot of people who had no interest in the gym itself. But again, the gym isn't bad, however it is one of the most dishonest businesses in West Michigan. There is a reason why the Attorney General filed a cease and desist with them.

Fantastic experience: Went with a guy who has a membership there, and loved it. Didn't get to try everything, but I did go to a yoga class taught by Aleah and it was so relaxing. 10/10 would recommend!

Fantastic experience: The best gym I’ve ever been to. It’s a 25 minute drive from my home and still worth the drive everyday. Its clean, the staff learned my name within weeks of me showing up, and it’s an environment that has helped me achieve all of my fitness needs and then some.

Fantastic experience: I've belonged to about a half-dozen gyms over the years, and this one is easily the best. Spacious facility, tremendous staff, affordable, and they have a diverse clientele in regards to level of fitness, which helps it feel less intimidating. Negative experience: In 2016 I signed a 36 month contract which is obviously finished. In 2019 I moved to a different country and I tried to cancel my contract with no success. I let it go since I only had a few months left in my contract. The problem is that they are STILL trying to charge me for this membership. It’s very easy to sign up to their gyms but what they don’t tell you is that it’s impossible to cancel it.

Negative experience: Wish google allowed 0 stars cause this gym deserves it. They have the worst police regarding cancellation even during a pandemic. This company is one big scam for your money and they have a lack of communication to get back with you on your problems. 10/10 would recommend you to look somewhere else for a gym.

Negative experience: Wish I could rate it a 0. HORRIBLE communication. This gym is top tier scammers. I had to freeze my account due to an injury, assuming that a freeze would mean to freeze payments. Little did I know, that 'freezing' your account means you still make payments, but you get extra 'free' months at the END of your membership. How does that make sense? The entire time at this gym they just kept trying to get me to spend more money, and stay for longer. Even added a cancellation fee and an early notice charge because I left during an injury. It's a TRAP!

Negative experience: Mark the owner is the scummiest person you will ever meet. Absolutely 0 morals. The sales team Is reminiscent of used car lots. He encourages them to lie to customers to get them to pay more for memberships then they should. They incentivize their members to leave good reviews which is why it remains over 4 stars. Almost cringe levels of pushy sales people.

Negative experience: Family fitness is trying to charge me a third annual club enhanement fee for a 24 month agreement... Obviously the person in charge of their billing department needs to be replaced. Customer service resfuses to listen to my concerns and keeps stating that I will need to make the payment even though I have receipts to prove I've paid my part. Also they charged my card on a date different from what is shown on my agreement making my account go negative. The gym may be okay but the corporate office is clearly shady and not looking out for the customers. I would recommend going to a different gym that won't charge your card whenever they want.

Negative experience: Listen to me, all these good reviews must be bought or something because this place is as shady as they come, do not ignore this like I did. Do NOT sign the contract without reading it no matter what their staff member says (especially the males eg. Shawn). They make it hard to manage your membership, you are in and stuck until you pay your way out if they allow you to. Otherwise the facility is average, still not worth their overpricing. Stay away no matter how desperate you are, there’s better business elsewhere

Negative experience: Loved it at first, be careful of anything you sign with them. My month to month agreement with them ended up being 24 months somehow? Even though I didn’t even have a lease in Grand Rapids that lasted that long. They could only charge me $75 to cancel, but after doing some research I see this great company got caught up in some legal trouble due to cancellation policies haha. Be careful what you sign. Besides that, nice facility. Staff at the location was friendly

Positive experience: I have a Planet Fitness membership but tried this place because my daughter is a member. Much of the equipment is older, the space is pretty dated in general and I don't care for their pushy sales tactics. I would pay more than double what I'm paying at PF per month and it just isn't worth the extra cost, in my opinion. They do offer daycare which is a huge plus to those who need it.

Fantastic experience: Aaron and his staff run a great gym. This is a gym for most anyone, whether you've been training seriously for a long time or are just getting started. They just got new equipment as well. They also have a nice boxing room with six different bags. Based on what's been said about the place, I'd have to disagree. If you're looking to avoid hassles with recurring monthly charges, just buy a six month or year membership up front. There's no chance of any confusion that way. I've been a member three years now and it's by far the best gym I've ever trained at.

Negative experience: Worst customer service experience. After moving out of town I tried to cancel my membership. Then I learned that I had signed up for a 2 year membership and there is a 150 dollar cancellation fee. Fair enough, I should have paid closer attention and read the fine print. But the customer service rep that handled the cancellation was awful at handling my request. I would not recommend this place. Sub par on all fronts.

Fantastic experience: Lee and staff at The Alpine Family Fitness are the best. I feel comfortable working out here but if I’m having an off day I like that I can go to the “women’s workout area” for some privacy. I’m feeling great and seeing results!!

Fantastic experience: I just recently became a member and I have enjoyed training at this gym so far. It is clean, organized, and full of plenty of equipment. The staff are also very polite and professional. Quite a few treadmills seem to be out-of-order, but things like that just happen over time. The atmosphere feels very welcoming to people of all ages and health status. I know a lot of negative attention has revolved around the company, but it seems that has ended. My contract is simple and I have yet to experience any shady incidents.

Fantastic experience: Not only did they make me feel special when they showed me around, but Maggie (super nice) and Aaron went a step further and asked me what my goals were. They then told me exactly how the gym could tailor to my needs and personality. The attention they gave was so much better than my current gym. Best deal ever!

Fantastic experience: Hi! my name is Linda, I have been a member at Family Fitness of Alpine since December 2016. I have to say for me personally that working out and tanning at Family Fitness has made a world of a difference for me. I lost my daughter last August and became severely depressed, and stopped taking care of myself. My gym family has assisted me in regaining my confidence and I now have my great love of life back, and most importantly my sense of hope has returned. At age 61 my main concern is healthy cardiovascular and muscle tone. After 6 months of working out I have a much more firm physique then I did when I was 30 and I'm smiling again! I feel so healthy! Family Fitness in my book is literally a life saver! I cannot stress how a good workout heals not only the body but the the soul also. So grateful for Aaron and the crew for the wonderful experience. Fantastic experience: Being a student I was looking for a gym that would be affordable and work with my schedule. This gym has been both. The gym has a lot of quality cardio machines and weights. There are plenty of extra weights and machines which makes it easier to get a good workout without the wait. The gym is also really clean and there is usually a staff member cleaning every time I am there. I am greeted by an employee every time I walk in. Overall I am very satisfied with this gym and would recommend it to others.

Fantastic experience: Great gym with good environment. The people are great at the front desk and extremely helpful. A positive vibe from this place for sure and somewhere that I would recommend for sure.
