Firehouse Fitness

Positive experience: I was a member here for a couple of months, the staff is super friendly, the facility itself is amazing, and hardly crowded. I have 2 complaints, the first is the sauna takes well over 30 minutes to reach barely 90°. The second and biggest complaint I have is that members are allowed to bring their kids and let them play on the equipment, or run around while others are working out. I understand it’s a family based gym, but that is not safe whatsoever, and I shouldn’t have to ask someone to get their kid off the one non manual treadmill at the gym because I, the paying member, need to use it. I was worried about hurting someone else’s child on accident and ultimately that affected my workouts here. That was my final reason for canceling, and switching to crunch.

Fantastic experience: Love the home like feel and relaxed atmosphere. The staff is always helpful and willing to answer questions and help. They have all the equipment you need and the feeling of accepting anyone regardless of where they are at on their fitness Journey. Loved having the outdoor patio lifting section on the sunny days. If you want a small town gym feel this is the place.

Fantastic experience: Firehouse fitness is a top tear facility. Clean gym, personable staff, friendly members, and the equipment selection is next level. It’s a must visit gym and a great choice for your home gym if you want to get STRONG!

Fantastic experience: One of the best gyms I’ve been to. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and community is awesome. Has plenty of equipment for bodybuilding, powerlifting, or strongman. The building itself is kind of small, but it is rarely crowded enough to matter. 24/7 access is huge. A membership here is worth every dime.

Fantastic experience: We came in for a quick workout while visiting Abilene and were instantly impressed by the gym and the owner. This gym has everything a powerlifter could ever want, including a great environment. We’re dreading going back to our hometown gym now. Thank you for the hospitality, Josh!

Negative experience: The gym is adequate for working out and has a decent power lifting room. I how ever was not happy with my experience. I was told it was a month to month no contract pay as you go. That's not how they operate I was charged 2 months billing to cancel an agreement clause that was not supposed to exist. Yes sounds like big box policies. They may rate well in a small town like Abilene because lack of competition. But I would not recommend them if you are in the area for a short period of time. Well as of now I have been charged a total of $328.00 for their cancellation policy. Here is the real problem there is a policy to cancel. lol Of course owners like to state their policies etc, when someone complains. Best of luck,

Fantastic experience: Awesome gym and great staff! Was only in town for a few days and they were very welcoming and gave me a tour of the gym. Has everything you need and more to get a great workout in. They also had spin classes going on. Definitely would come back when I’m back in town.

Fantastic experience: Overall astounding gym, the staff members are exceptionally friendly, there is a solid lineup of equipment for targeting any muscle group with any style of training. Calisthenics, bodybuilding, powerlifting, aerobics or simply cardio they check all the boxes and have a surplus of support equipment. They manage to provide a very homey, beginner friendly vibe/atmosphere while still also catering to people of elite fitness levels. Gym is aestheticly pleasing and has a lovely outdoor area with equipment. If you are frequent gymgoer there is absolutely no reason not to check it out.

Fantastic experience: Owners Josh and Andi are some of the best people you could ever hope to meet. They know their members and care about their progress. They’re knowledgable trainers who can work with people of all fitness and ability levels from those with disabilities to college athletes. Equipment in the gym is great whether you’re just getting started or a competitive strength athlete. Can’t recommend Firehouse strongly enough.

Positive experience: Great experience with the owner, Jasmine, as we walked through. The gym has some great additions, the outdoor patio being awesome to incorporate on nice days. The only reason I didn't give a 5 start rating was they don't offer childcare. While I was offered the choice to bring one, the options wouldn't lead to a stress-free workout.

Fantastic experience: Went in to check it out. Looks small from the outside but just keeps going and going inside. Staff was very professional and gave me a tour of the place. The Rogue pulley machines are by far the smoothest machines I have EVER USED. VERY NICE.

Fantastic experience: I am in Abilene to watch my brother play baseball at ACU and wanted to work out while I was here for the week. As I was looking up gyms, this one stuck out to me because of its uniqueness and variety of equipment and training styles that it caters to. Even cross fitters are welcome! Josh and his staff were awesome and very welcoming. They made it feel like I was a lifelong member. I love small businesses, and these guys are the epitome of American business. Thank you! Fantastic experience: I’ve officially been lifting here for a month. The staff is always super nice and personable, and quick to ask if you need anything! It seems very close-knit, as a lot of members know each other on a first name basis. The equipment selection is awesome. They have everything I could hope for/need and the 24 hour access makes my crazy schedule work no matter what the time. I’m happy to go here and look forward to continuing to lift at firehouse!

Fantastic experience: THIS GYM ROCKS!! We are from AZ visiting for baseball and these guys were so nice, accommodating & friendly! As a woman, this made it less intimidating. I would 100% recommend this gym! The staff is so nice and friendly and they have tons of great equipment. Plus the whole gym set up was so cool being an old firehouse.

Fantastic experience: Great gym! New equipment, healthy meals, and an awesome outdoor workout area along the creek. They are 24/7 access and have free weights, circuit equipment, and cross-fit type equipment. They also offer a great boot camp class twice a week, yoga, Zumba, and a kickboxing class. Worth a look!

Fantastic experience: I've been lifting in Abilene for the past 8 years and Firehouse Fitness is hands down the best gym I've ever trained in. I've spent years at Icon (formerly Gold's), Powershack, and the Dyess gym but Firehouse without a doubt takes the cake. Not only do they have the newest equipment in town (especially at the new Wylie location at 8050 Buffalo Gap Road) and the friendliest staff you'll ever meet, but I've seen every single demographic I can think of at both locations. They really go out of their way to make everyone feel like a part of the Firehouse family!

Fantastic experience: I have yet to find a gym I enjoy more than Firehouse Fitness. I really love the small size and "neighborhood feel." The classes are my favorite thing about Firehouse and they're a great way to stay motivated. I always look forward to the kickboxing class with Gary each week because I know it'll be fun and I will feel accomplished afterwards! They also let you do a free 5 day trial to see what you think so there's no reason not to try it out!

Fantastic experience: The best fitness facility I have ever trained at. They have something that chain fitness centers don't have and that is the ability to be different than the rest. They have an outdoor workout area that is completely different than any workout experience in town!

Fantastic experience: Came in to work out for the day that I was in town. The gym is kept clean and the equipment is nice. There is something here for everyone. Anyone that powerlifts or bodybuilds would have an easy time with the selection of equipment. Its also a welcoming environment for anyone new to exercising and new to going to a gym in general. The staff was very nice. Friendly small town atmosphere.

Fantastic experience: The facility is top tier. With multiple subdivision, it’s convenient to get a good work out in without being overwhelmed with high traffic. Not to mention they stay stocked up with filtered water AND a meal prep service to the likes of FitPineapple. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. Literally can’t think of anything I don’t like about this place.

Fantastic experience: While visiting family in Abilene I found Firehouse Fitness to work out for the week . I have worked out in many good gyms but Firehouse had it ALL. The moment I walked in the door I was greeted by friendly professional staff who allowed me to work out for free. The gym is split up depending on what you like and even had a old school outside gym area for heavy lifters. Entire gym was extremely clean and well maintained. If you enjoy working out on any level I highly recommend Firehouse Fitness. Thanks for letting me workout!

Negative experience: Called numerous times and sent a message to the Facebook page looking to get a membership, nobody answered and never got a response. I guess I'll go somewhere else. Thanks for nothing.

Negative experience: I am happy to see gyms opening. Front desk lady is friendly. However, We need far more than one broken spray bottle for the gym. With the virus, they can be readily available. Also, the sink needs soap! The equipment is dusty and doesn’t look like it’s been cleaned thoroughly. This isn’t good with current affairs.

Fantastic experience: Firehouse is the perfect mixture of a friendly neighborhood gym that can accommodate everyone from someone just looking to get healthier to the competitive lifter such as myself! Josh and Andi are two amazing people that go out of their way to make all their members feel welcome! Not to mention you can get gourmet coffee from GRND and supps from refuel right in the foyer!!!!

I can always find Josh or Andi around the gym, and they do an excellent job making guests and members feel welcomed and a part of the Firehouse Family. One of my favorite things about Firehouse is that they have everything that to serve my needs as a former athlete, and the collection of high-quality and unique equipment is growing all the time. If you are on the gym search Firehouse is where it's at in Abilene! I also love being able to stop at GRND or Refuel when I need a little pick me up, or forget my pre-workout at home!

Fantastic experience: I love the “neighborhood gym” atmosphere of Firehouse. There really is something for everyone... from people who are super hardcore and know what they’re doing, to people like me who are just trying to be healthier. All the trainers and staff are super friendly and helpful and I never feel dumb for asking questions. Everything is always so clean and the machines are always in working order and I LOVE the sauna!

Fantastic experience: So i'm in there, jacking 380 on bench (no seriously) when BAM, I hear a stack of weights drop to the floor and someone groaning. As a medic I naturally stood up to see what all the commotion was and the person was already surrounded by 3 friendly FIrehouse staff members there to not only help save their life and get the weights off their chest, but they coached them thru the rest of their reps and gave them the confidence they could do it. Josh (Maybe James? I'm terrible with names lol) is one hell of a manager and athlete. The nicest, and honestly I mean one of the nicest and most genuine gym owners I've ever met in Abilene. I will gladly pay the little bit of extra money and leave Crunch fitness to go to Firehouse and be surrounded by people who are caring and love what they do and are not in it strictly for a paycheck! Also I think by next thursday i'll be jacking 395 on bench thanks to some new techniques they showed me!

Whether you're a bodybuilder, a powerlifter, a recreational gym goer, experienced, or just beginning, I guarantee Firehouse Fitness has something that will meet your needs. Perhaps even more positive than the atmosphere and variety of equipment, is the owners and staff. They welcome you in, and you immediately feel like family. I would highly recommend this gym to anyone.
